The Denver Tea Room Ratings and Reviews
Wanted to take my 5 year old granddaughter to tea for her first time. Another location was completely booked and we found the Denver Tea Room. What a great find!! The location is in a new building, yet the inside of the tearoom is very traditional. At the time of our visit, they were still honoring the holiday season and the tea room was decorated nicely for the season. They were extremely kind and accommodating for my granddaughter, offering her decaf tea and lemonade. The initial food item was a crust free turnkey pie. Everyone loved it. The we had our tower, with cucumber sandwich, chicken salad on pumpkin bread, scones, and sweet treats. The teas were also festive for the season. My granddaughter, and daughter loved it--and so did I. Wonderful memories and will definitely return!!
We had a lovely time at high tea. Staff was very attentive and all of the food was very good if not exceptional. The tea was delicious and there is a variety for sale as well. It would be the very spot to take an elderly mother to tea or another special someone who enjoys a "tea" atmosphere. They were decorated for Christmas and had a Christmas menu when we were there. They also offer cocktails which is a nice addition to the traditional tea. A baby shower or bridal shower would be fun here as well. A little pricey for the offerings...
This was our first Afternoon Tea experience.
Upon arrival, we were greeted immediately, and ushered to our table after only a few moments. The dining room was cheery and festive. Our table was beautifully decorated, and our server was prompt and offered suggestions for the specialty teas. Our tea arrived, and the food shortly thereafter. The cottage pie was very good - hot!!! - followed by the tier of treats.
We were able to easily converse as the room was relatively quiet (that is a bonus, these days!).
We enjoyed every moment and will return, as well as recommend the Tea Room to our friends and family.
The Tearoom did not disappoint! I found this wonderful little gem on a at whim google search, and am SO glad I did. I already know multiple friends I want to take back here. The food was absolutely excellent, and so much considering the value. The tea was continually refreshed and the ambiance and decorations (we went during Christmas!) were beautiful. I would have wished our sweet server not have to carry so much of the dining room herself, however, even amidst her busyness she was extremely attentive. Meeting the manager was a extra plus. You could tell she was in this business because of her love for tea and hospitality, it shows!
Setting and aumbiance were great! My wife and I do afternoon teas all over the country as she is English. Overall this was a great place. The servicer was great! The tea was good and the food was good. My only thought of what could have been a bit better was a larger variety of foods served on the food pyramid for afternoon tea. Three bite size sandwiches, one scone, and three small deserts.
Butternut Squash soup was delicious and served hot. I especially enjoyed the Quiche. Good flavor. The cream scone was fresh and warm. I also bought a bag of Crème Scones from the super market to enjoy at home another day. I attended the Summer Tea at the Denver Botanic Gardens. I enjoyed the entire presentation given by the owner and her daughter's. Good job ladies!
I've been here twice, with about 1.5 years between visits. Second time was yesterday. Both times it was enjoyable, both times the decor was lovely, both times the service was friendly and satisfactory, and both times the food was pretty typical tasty afternoon tea fare. I took mom (age 73) this last time, and she had a wonderful time. We were both stuffed after a small bowl of soup, a scone with cream and sweets, and then 3 savory bites. Neither of us had room for the sweets at the end! I actually had only one complaint. My tea was too weak. It appears that they prepare the tea and THEN bring it your table, so unlike other places where it continues to steep and get stronger over time (fine by me), it is as strong as it will be when they bring it out. We ordered the same tea, so only one pot came out, and strength was predetermined. Mom loved it, as she likes a weaker cup of tea, but I like mine stronger. No, I didn't say anything there. They probably could have made a stronger pot for me if I'd ask....Next time I'll speak up!
The Denver Tea Room never disappoints. If you want to experience High Tea for a bit more affordable cost, this is the place. The food is always tasty and with their variety of teas there is something for everyone. (Or you can get coffee if you prefer). And the cream scones are the best! Great place for quiet conversation with friends.
The tea was excellent but the service less than expected. Our waitress was very nice but busy with three afternoon tea tables and dealing with anyone coming into the coffee bar. The food was good but portions a bit small for the price. I realize some would think this means I'm not familiar with afternoon tea but I've had it many places. I would possibly return but maybe at a time when they are better staffed.
The Denver Tea Room has the most wonderful afternoon teas. Absolutely everything Margo cooks up is a little slice of heaven. This is my daughter and my favorite place... there are many different themed teas as well, e.g. Downton Abbey, Harry Potter, book club, Christmas and more. I highly recommend The Denver Tea Room.
Husband is half British, we know our high tea. The best thing about this place is their scones. Their chilled Strawberry soup was doable. You can skip everything else, even the tea. They are accommodating, one of our parties was gluten intolerant, but didn't eat most of the gluten free meal.
The ambiance was ok, but we didn't know we would have a Bachelorette party there. Not sure it would be an appropriate place, but hey, we were in Denver and had to try it out.
I took my daughter for a quiet get together. She has to have gluten free and really enjoyed the food as well as the tea! This was my second time here and it was just as wonderful as the first time. I do not like scones, but theirs are wonderful. I got a few to take home with me. So good! We will definitely go again
I made a reservation for my mother-in-law, niece and myself. My mother-in-law enjoys high tea. The tea room was nice enough but the service was slow and our waitress was not very attentive. There was only one other party present when we arrived and 3 parties arrived after us. It took quite a bit of time to be served tea and an even longer wait for our fingers sandwiches. The waitress left the check and never came back to collect, so I went to the register myself. It wasn't terrible, but nothing to write home about either.
A sweet spot for couples or friends looking for a fun meal or afternoon plan. The tea is good, and they have coffee for non-tea people. The food is fine, not the best, but combined with the atmosphere and floral china, you're paying for the overall experience. Great service.
I made reservations for High Tea for Mother's Day and was pleasantly surprised. The food was hot and delicious, and I loved that everyone was able to pick the type of tea they wanted to try. (There was also an option to order champagne, beer, and hard cider.) We were worried that for a table of four we might still be hungry after, but there was enough food for our family. (Each person had 1 chicken ala king, 1 half cucumber herb sandwich, 1 egg salad, and smoked salmon). The scones and small desert plate were all wonderful as well! The service was amazing, the staff was very attentive seating us quickly and making sure our glasses were never empty. I will definitely bring my family back again, thank you for such a wonderful High Tea, you really made it a wonderful experience!
I took my Mother for an early Mother's Day Afternoon Tea. I take her for Afternoon Tea every year as a special treat. I'll never be back. 1st, the young waitress was not friendly and never asked once how we liked the food. She only had 4 tables but seemed swamped.
Here's what you get for $30. You get to try only 1 kind of Tea. Most places let you try different ones. Then we got a small puff pastry filled with a chicken pot pie mixture that was so dry we could barely eat it. It needs more sauce so that the puff pastry is not dry. Then came the 3 plate tier. They were so skimpy I couldn't believe it. On the bottom was 1 cucumber & cream cheese sandwich on plain white bread cut in half. Zero flavor! Next were 2 small rounds of totally dried out bread with no more then 1 TBLS of egg salad with some dried dill sprinkled on top. No other seasoning & there was no S & P on the table. Then there were 2 more small pieces of very dried out pieces of bread with 1/2 tap of something smeared on & a small piece of lox. Not everyone likes lox or raw fish by the way. So that left both of us with the other 2 small tasteless sandwiches, if you could call them that.
The next tier had 2 plain scones. Also tasteless. The tier on top had 6 bitesize desserts. Totally dried out brownies, one bite of some kind of bar & a mini mini lemon cupcake.
That was it. That's what you get for $30! Plus, for the 2 of us she gave us a small amount of clotted cream and I'm not kidding you when I say 1 TBLS of strawberry jam!!! When she finally did bothered to check on us I asked for more jam and she comes back with 1 TBLS of jam. I only got my tea refilled twice as well. I was literally starving by the time I left there. My Mother's 82, so I don't have many times to take her for tea. I'll now have to go spend another $70-80 somewhere else to make up for this horrible experience. Skimpy on the food, horrible food and terrible service. Not a good way to run a business.
We went for "high tea" aka afternoon tea for Sunday brunch. The food, drinks, and service were lovely. The separate tea room had a very nice ambiance. Our server was excellent and engaging. The tea was brewed ideally--neither too weak nor bitter from over-steeping. It's a bit pricey, but that is the nature of formal tea service. The scones were served with Chantilly cream which was lovely, but I prefer Devonshire cream. I would recommend it.
The Denver Tea Room provides a delightful environment for a pleasant time out with family or friends. We had a wonderful selection of teas (both black and green varieties) along with yummy nibbles. The staff was very considerate and attentive. A wonderful experience. We can hardly wait to go again!
