The Dead Fish
As always, good food, service and awesome location.
Beautiful place, great atmosphere, excellent service, delicious, delicious food.
Our favorite place to eat specially for special occasions.
Very nice evening with some young adults. Great food and view. We will return.
I had requested a table by the window but it was given to a different party so I didn’t get the table was hoping went there last week for party of 2 and requested table by window and didn’t get the window seat It would be nice if we make reservations ahead of time and requested a certain table request by window and actually get it. Everything else was good though
Should have requested a table near a window, or in the main room. The back room we were seated in was basically the entrance to the kitchen, and the service station. The food deliver, when it was delivered to our table was a little like a food auction, where the runner did not know whos entree went to which person. The food was delicious, really great seafood. But I did not enjoy eating in in a table near the kitchen, smelling like dirty dishes.
First time coming to this restaurant. Used open table to make a reservation. We put in the notes that we would like to sit by the window so we could see the sunset. And that is exactly what they delivered. We also mentioned it was our anniversary and they brought out a candelabra and some cake. It was delicious. Everything tasted fantastic. We will be coming back for future anniversaries!
It was an early birthday celebration for my husband and we all enjoy going to the The Dead Fish restaurant. We arrived early but got seated right away which made me supper happy. We were also all please with our food selection.
Overall the dinning experience was nice - we started with Leo as our waiter and ending with Samone which turned out fine but she was over worked and took a little bit to get her - the food was great
This place never disappoints. We had 12 reservations and the place was jumping on a Sunday. The parking lots were full but our daughter found a parking place across the street easy peasy. I had the clams as I will always have the clams and they were superb. My husband got the osso buco which was fantastic. The View was spectacular of course. We sat on the patio and it was a sunny gorgeous day. The view of The carquinez Straits and the bridge make the experience even more remarkable. Thank you for being consistently wonderful
Have dined at Dead Fish many times, always with a reservation. Had to wait 1/2 hour to be seated, even with a reservation. Not acceptable.
Dead Fish is a unique BayArea experience. Go. Embrace. Enjoy.
Wait staff was very good . Just very very loud in the restaurant. Could not even hear people at our table.
We love the Dead Fish and go there for many special occasions. This weekend was a miss. There were well too many reservations for the available time slots and the reception staff was incredibly rude about putting us at a freezing outside table. Our waiter was kind and gracious, but I would prefer to not be offered and accept reservations when a restaurant really does not have space.
When we inquired about waiting for an inside table after being sat outside, the runner said "you will have to wait at least 30-45 minutes" (mind you, this was for a scheduled and confirmed reservation) and added (in disgust) "that's what all those other people are waiting for" (as though it was impertinent to ask.
This place never disappoints. Foods always amazing! And Ambiance is always a chill vibe.
It’s just not that good. Prices are high for what you get.
Exellent Restaraunt and great views
Service is superb
If you are in the mood for seafood this is a place to go. We had a wonderful meal and the view of the Carquinez Bridge was great!
We love the Dead Fish. This is our go-to spot when celebrating Birthdays. Best crab, great service and all around amazing restaurant.
We had excellent service, food arrived piping hot and was delicious. We had appetizers that came very quickly and were large enough portions for multiple people. The views are stunning as well. Atmosphere is warm and inviting. We had fun.
We had the pleasure of eating the cioppino and garlic noodles! Both were wonderful together!
Our waitress was wonderful . The food was delicious
Lots of great seafood options. Unlike many other seafood restaurants, most of the menu items were not fried. Yay. We had the prime rib and cioppino. Both excellent. And our server, Jeremy, was on point. We sat at the far end of the terrace to get a bit calmer pace. It was beautiful. Great experience. Make sure you make reservations. Seems like this place is busy all day long!
I love the dead fish! It is a place for traveller’s and locals alike. The food is always amazing and the service is impeccable. Yumm.
After reading rave reviews, my wife and I decided to try The Dead Fish as there are very few restaurants dedicated to seafood in the East Bay. We were not impressed. Parking here was a nightmare as all three lots were packed. We ended up parking about a quarter mile away and walking to the restaurant. Upon entering and saying we had reservations and were seated immediately (good) at a table by a service door where the table was so wobbly we couldn’t possibly sit there (bad). Plus, there was only one chair (really bad) so the bus staff found a second chair whose springs were sprung in the cushion (unacceptably bad!). Sitting on the chair would also have been impossible. We honestly considered leaving but our waiter, noticing our discomfort, moved us to a back corner table. (So much for the spectacular Bay views!)
Our wait staff was attentive (good) but the food was average at best. I’d say we could have dined at Denny’s and had probably the same quality. For the prices you pay at The Dead Fish, I would expect great quality, wonderful presentation and a much better atmosphere.
Would I recommend Dead Fish? Nope. Will not be back.
Our Birthday Celebration was FANTASTIC
Evrything was very good. The Food, the service and the great atmosphere with the ocean theme. the only negatives were parking and the prices. Both parking lots were full but the restaurant had many open tables. The prices too high for what you get. $50 for prime rib. $10 for a small slice of Cheesecake etc.
The calamari appetizer was the best I have had in along time. the calamari was actually tender not chewy.
The food is so delish. Bringing a bottle of wine was a great idea. I think it’s time to pull Michael Jackson’s photo down though?! Haha.
Celebrating a blending of families.
Great food 👌
Ordered the crab and mussel skillet. Waited over 45 minutes for the skillet to arrive. At about 25 minutes in the waiter told us that the kitchen was slammed. When the skillet arrived, it was hotter than hot. The mussel shells were burnt. The mussels themselves were mealy and didn't taste good. We asked for a manager and complained to him about the mussels and he had a new batch sent to the table. While not burnt, they were still mealy. Don't know if they were old, not cooked correctly or what but bottom line was they were not tasty at all. All in all it was a very disappointing meal.
Galentine's Day with my gal pals at brunch. From start to finish, it was a memorable brunch & we shared vino without corkage fee, which is the best part of Deadfish and all its affiliated restaurants, no CORKAGE ~ cheers! The view is breathtaking as always. 'Til next time...
Food was a bit greasy and unimaginative. Waitress was pleasant but not very attentive. Kind of chaotic but it was a Sunday...
We went out for Valentine’s Day dinner. Unfortunately when we made the reservations a week in advance the restaurant was full on the day of Valentine’s Day so we made reservations for that next day which was Saturday. Even then they were only a few non-ideal times for Reservations available. We made reservations for 9 PM which I thought was late, but When we got there it was very lively and almost completely full. Our Reservations were for 9 PM but we showed up around 8:40 PM. We waited about 15 minutes for a table to be ready. When we sat down on our table service was fast and very professional . We received our drinks in a timely manner and received our appetizer almost immediately after ordering. That is always nice especially when you’re really hungry, although the appetizer was $20 for three crab crostini’s with salmon it was definitely worth it. We shared a 12 ounce prime rib and a combo skillet (crab, mussels, and shrimp), which still ended up being a lot of food, which we ended up taking home.
I would definitely like to experience the restaurant on a not so busy night or even brunch but our overall experience was amazing and we will definitely be eating here again.
Brother in Law Birthday, sat within 5 minutes of our reservation, our waiter Lak introduced himself and was amazing all evening, food was excellent!
Nice place, very busy on valentine weekend. Loved the crab!
My husband and I went for our wedding anniversary. Good thing we had reservations because they weren’t taking walk ins. The hostess in the front, with the black hair and full sleeve tattoos is really rude. I saw her communicating with all of the customers including myself and my husband and she had no customer service skills, especially everyone walking in would be spending at least $150. She shouldn’t be in the front greeting or checking in people in my opinion.
Other than that our server was nice and the food was decent. We live nearby and come to the restaurant often. The food has tasted better the other times we have gone. It was pretty bland this time.
We will come here again for the view and family time, but not for a special date night out. Definitely not worth it.
The Dead Fish never disappoints. We went Valentine's weekend and it was packed! Despite being VERY busy, the food was excellent and the service was supreme. We used Open Table for the reservation and found they were only offering bar seating without one. Try the Killer Crab (and be sure to ask for extra napkins!). Soooooo delicious.
Yes, I do recommend The Dead Fish and we bring our friends there. I do however have to mention that every time I have been there the restrooms are always dirty. This last time I was there, there was blood on the floor and it was being tracked out onto the carpet., pretty gross. My husband ordered Cioppino and it took 3 tries to get him a spoon. We really like The Dead Fish, I just wish the bathrooms were better maintained, especially for the price you are paying for your food.
Parking was terrible. Had to park three blocks away and up steep hill into residential area for a 3:45pm reservation . No valet parking was offered . Drove an hour , first time there and got put in a “cubby hole “ in back staring at a glazed window streaming hot sun through with no ventilation. Asked The hostess if we could wait for an outside seat or something with a view since we have driven so far and she said no , That they were very busy and the wait was too long and continue to walk us to the back room. I then asked our waitress if we could wait and try and get seated out front where we could see something and perhaps breath a bit better and she also said nothing available and they were too booked and it was first come first serve for dining out front even with a reservation. The ambiance wasn’t what we expected or drove an hour for. We can get great food at a Number of restaurants but we chose to try this one out because of the view we were told about.
