The Dead Fish
Anniversary dinner great service & food only thing is it is loud environment
Food is descent, view is wonderful, carpet is sticky 😝
We have been coming to the Dead Fish for several years and have always sat outside. The weather was cold this time and we were seated inside for the first time. Still, a great view! Our server was on top of everything and very polite. The food was spot on. We ordered a crab Louie, a prime rib, and seafood squid ink linguini. A delightful experience.
Quick reservations. Seated immediately. Served and meal completed within an hour. Great ambiance. View of lighted bridge.
We would like to see more fish and vegetarian choices on the menu, and less beef. For humane reasons, we are vegetarian except we eat fish. The references to dead animals on the menu, we felt to be in bad taste. We really enjoyed the atmosphere and the no corkage fee policy.
The cracked crab was very expensive and it came a la carte. It was covered in some oil or butter which got all over everything and made it difficult to hold onto to crack.
We ordered the steamed vegetables side dish for $9.99 and it was very small.
For some reason, if you order a $14.99 sandwich you can get a side of soup or salad for $4.99 but if you order the $69.99 crab you only have the option of ordering a small side for $9.99.
Will not go again soon.
Worth the drive from anywhere in nor-cal. Views are spectacular, especially at sunset.
Parking is a nightmare!
Our server was darling & we felt she was going to make sure we had fun. Indeed we did!
Celebrating my mom's birthday.
Great food and ambiance, beautiful view of outdoors.
Excellent food preparation coupled with good service, and the only restaurant I know that provides free corkage for your own selected wines overcomes the relatively loud background environment. Beautiful views are also a plus.
The food was very good! But I expected a higher-end dining experience for how expensive it was. The dining room had tables packed in so close you hit your neighbor when you pulled your chair out. The hostess told us there were 600+ diners in the restaurant at the time of our reservation. The noise level in the dining room was deafening. Tables were cleared with loud clattering of dishes and cutlery. It was like eating in a school cafeteria.
It was hard to enjoy the food in such a chaotic atmosphere.
Incredible food. Everyone at our table had an outstanding meal. Service was perfect - not too much but there when needed.
The food appeared to have been made way ahead of time. Salad were definitely pre made. Very hurried service Entres' arrived within 10 minutes. Obviously this is a very busy place and the want to turn the tables as quickly as humanly possible.
Normally never have an issue here but this time my girlfriends meet was more raw than the requested medium rare.
We love the service, we liked the food. The prices seemed pretty high, especially since we were in San Francisco. Speaking of San Francisco, the parking situation was terrible. We arrived 20 minutes early for our reservation, and both parking lots for the restaurant and the commuter lot across the street where are full and we had to park about a quarter-mile away up a hill in a neighborhood. When we were returning to our car after our meal we saw a vehicle near where we parked had been broken into and the owners said they lost luggage and valuable personal items. That situation along with the high prices makes it unlikely that I will return in the future.
Had a fabulous dinner. No corkage fee is a real plus. Enjoyed the resident cat very much. We shared some delicious fish with her!
Love this place.
Our server Chris was excellent. Never had a bad experience.
Food was delicious.
Service was excellent. The waiter knew how to make us feel comfortable, opened our wines, and interpreted the menu
Excellent food but beef items expensive. Thoroughly enjoyed the restaurant and service
Very nice, calm but festive. Nice service, delicious food. Great for any special day or regular day!
Our reservation was for 7pm but we arrived early at 630
The reception said we had to wait in the bar until 7
The bar was full with no seats I went in open table and changed our reservation to 645
They seated us at a table that looked like it was vacant for awhile
The food was great but they served salad and soup
After they brought out the entrees
Was great! We celebrated our 2 year anniversary! The service was good and the food was great, and they brought us a dessert as a celebration for our anniversary
Excellent seating... outside “cabana” with heat!!! Robert, our server was great as always! I love this place...the food, the ambiance, and the service. This is my favorite restaurant by far. My treat, this time, but I told my husband that he has to bring me EVERY weekend day from now forward 😉.
We sat in the bar for the first time & loved it. Snapped vid FH if svuczugof it t oh HSN mnkvcohifyayaoghkloj game gagjptesbj
Great place. Nice dining and great place for a date or family event.
This is a regular stop for my wife and I. Love overlooking the water sitting outside with the Shellfish Cioppino for two. The wait staff and reception crew were pleasant and efficient. It really pays to have a reservation. Prices are quite fair: you can order up or keep it at an affordable level without compromising enjoyment.
Ok not overly impressed
Very poor service. No friendly greeting , waiter gave us bad service. A lot of money for poor service.
Great place to celebrate a birthday! Busy, noisy fish restaurant reminded me of New England places where I grew up. Great food!
Dead Fish is amazing and wonderful! We went on a Saturday night, and it was absolutely packed. All the parking lots were full so we headed up the hill nearby and parked on the street in a residential neighborhood. The view from up there was stunning, just before sunset. We arrived early and had a drink in the bar - the view from the bar area is also stunning! Overlooking the Carquinez Bridge and the water... We went to the greeter right at the time of our reservation, and they seated us immediately in a cozy space separated from other diners by cool drapes. It was quieter here than in the bustling bar. The food was fantastic. Four of us shared the "Double Shrimp and Crab" appetizer. I've never had more tender crab, and the shrimp was wonderfully spiced! (Warning - you have to peel some skin off the shrimp.) Our entrees were all delicious. The menu shows a sense of humor, as did our waiter. One side dish we ordered never came, but on a bustling Saturday night with great food we forgave that. No corkage fee for bringing our own wine! We will return to this place and hopefully we'll get to try it on a less hectic night. Recommend making reservations.
Outstanding experience! Could not have picked a better place for our Anniversary. Definitely a place we will be returning to. Food was amazing and the service was outstanding!
As usual my family and I had a wonderful time celebrating a birthday here. Service and food were amazing and made for a great evening. We look forward to coming back
Thank you for the great service we were celebrating our 39th wedding anniversary and your staff made it special
Way too expensive! Servers were ok. Not as should be for a very high priced meal though. I had the crab lasagna, it was good. Not 24$ good though. The ceaser salad was on par with an 'included with meal' salad, not a 13$ stand alone salad. Overall, I spent over 100$ for two. My experience was just average, except the bill, which was over the top expensive, for what I received. Just to add about noise level, very loud! At times, it was hard to hear my date from across table. We had to speak very loudly to just be able to hear each other. Felt like I was in a loud bar during happy hour.
Its been a few years since I’ve been to The Dead Fish but I feel like the vibe of the restaurant has really gone down hill. I’ve always gone here for a special event (date, birthday, etc). This visit the food was still delicious and our server and most of the staff we encountered were great however the girls at the front weren’t the most welcoming and didn’t have a very professional presence. They provided us with a vibrating pager for our reservation that went off almost every minute on the minutes!!! We waited at the bar for about 15-20 min to be seated for our reservation and having the pager vibrate the whole time was very obnoxious and annoying. I have never had one constantly vibrate like that before. We even went back to the desk regarding it and they just said “it will keep doing that” uhhhh what?! Really?!? They then came and found us at the bar when it was our time and almost seemed annoyed that we hadn’t came up to the front but the pager was going off the whole time and never went off any differently to indicate it was our time. Overall it just think that the front staff can work on their customer service. I’m not quite sure what had caused the change in what was once a fancier restaurant to change (as the overall vibe has really changed for the worse) but I think starting w the front staff setting a better tone would be a good start.
We have been there several times and each time it seems to get worse if you’re there only for appetizers and drinks and to look at the view from the bar it’s fine service in the dining room was terrible our entrées were subpar we certainly wouldn’t return for dinner again.
All the staff was wonderful. Food and drinks were served quickly and were amazing! Thanks to Jason, our waiter, for putting the chicken tender order in quickly after we forgot to order it for our kid. Overall, great experience will be back!
Yes definitely recommend it. The last few times we went, service wasn’t that great. This time was amazing!
