The Dead Fish
I took my partner here for the first time late last year and she has been waiting to come back for a second visit. The staff was very polite and the food was delicious. We will be coming back more often this year.
Foods great!! View Obsolute beautiful, can’t ask anything more.
One of our favorite restaurants! The food is delicious and the Staff, especially the Ladies at the front reception, are the best!! We love bringing guests with us. Keep up the good work!
Always an enjoyable night out.
Kind of a Fisherman’s Wharf vibe-don’t dress up-but very, very tasty food-YUM!!!
The most disappointing thing about today’s visit was that their gift card machine was broken. We took out a special couple for a 30th birthday and planned to use some gift cards that we had. We were unable to do so.
Otherwise food, ambiance and service was great.
The quality is going down. The prices are too much, for the quality!!!
Had a great time just my husband and I it was his birthday! Food was sooooo good! Will definitely be back again, planning a dinner with our adult children.
No need for reservations they put us on a list with all walk ins ...we arrived at 615pm and didn’t get seated until 715pm
This was not okay!
Fantastic service and food. One of our favorite restaurants!
Seating in the lounge/ bar area is always a good experience because the windows are so big and you get a good view of the bay . The cioppino stew is sooo good its a great seafood option !
I took my two employees for lunch for our holiday get together / birthday celebration. It was fun, the food was good. Enjoyed calamari, bread with a really tasty garlic butter on the side we specially asked for. The sea bass and oysters were good. Service was great. Overall really nice afternoon. And they brought one of my guests a birthday cake slice on the house. Extra nice touch.
We had MJ as our server....she is the best ever! We frequently go to the Dead Fish, and servers like MJ are the reason why. Great place to celebrate anything!
We saw our waiter twice, once to take the order and once to bring our check. There were busboys delivering food and removing dishes. One of our entrees was never brought out. When we finally saw the waiter and told him, instead of getting the order he sai oh I’ll remove it from the bill and give you a complementary glass of wine. What? Where is our food? He says it’s too late and delivers a glass of white wine, which I don’t drink. Go figure!
Took my cousin here for her birthday. Had a great time. Great service. Excellent meal.
Prices on the high side
First time visit, friends and I were very impressed.
I took my date to The Dead Fish, as it was his first time there, and had an amazing time! We sampled the calamari, shrimp cocktail, and crab cakes for our appetizers and all 3 were fantastic. The crab cakes were flavorful and had a nice crunch, the calamari was excellent, and the shrimp cocktail had fresh tasting jumbo shrimp which was greatly appreciated. For our main courses I had the filet mignon and he had the seafood combo which included a generous serving of mussels, shrimp, and crab legs on a sizzling skillet with a brilliant presentation. Both of our entrees were cooked perfectly and the seafood combo was especially tasty. For dessert, we sampled the Salted Vanilla Crunch Cake which more than delivered on a promise of 100% satisfaction. I cannot remember our waitresses name but if I am lucky enough to have her serve me again I will make sure to ask for it so I may mention her with compliments on great service and excellent recommendations. If I had to give my overall visit a rating it would exceed 5 stars as I can remember every detail whether it be the food, service, ambience, or their fresh baked crunchy bread (which is baked fresh every day from a highly rated bakery in Berkeley) being very well represented and absolutely integral to a successful restaurant that truly cares about the tastes and needs of its guests. Rest assured I will without a doubt be visiting this restaurant many times in the future regardless of the half hour drive from where I live and this time it will be during lunch time on a beautiful day so I can enjoy that breath taking view of the delta from their outside patio
A fun place with a great bar. Food was ok and prices were on the high end. But a fun place and I would go back. I think in better weather sitting outside would be great .
Wonderful ambiance. Food is great! Love the energy in this space.
Been there twice. Fish and chips and Shrimp Fettuccini, tiny bit spicy, but really good. My daughter likes the Squid ink linguini and clams. Friendly and fast service. We will be back to try the drinks soon. 🙂
I've been going to The Dead Fish since it opened and although the food is mediocre (most things, including fish, are overcooked) the ambiance, view and friendly service make up for dietary deficiencies. This time, however, was a deal-breaker: the new manager doesn't understand how to pace reservations and/or doesn't understanding the Open Table system. I made a OT reservation, during the afternoon, for a Sunday evening at 6:30 p.m. We arrived to a crush of people, all waiting for tables, many of whom had reservations. After over a half-hour we confronted the (new) manager who insisted it was an OT problem (I don't think so since I've been an OT member since 1997 and I know restaurants can pace/deny reservations). We finally were seated 45 minutes after our reservation and served, as usual, overcooked crab.
I made a reservation for 5:30pm with the request for a window seat. The hostess gave us a seat in the back of the restaurant in what appeared to be a temporary tent. I quickly asked for anther table a was seated in the main dinning room. The place was not that busy for her to be trying to seat people in a tent when they have reservations and other seat are available. It really put a damper on my experience at the restaurant. That being said the food and the wait staff were both great. We will go back soon.
Food was delicious, service was great, quirky unique decor. First time at the dead fish and definitely will be going back.
We were seated right away! Service was a bit slow, and while the server was very nice, he was not particularly attentive. We had to wait to get refills and have questions answered. The food was delicious! We will return!
Great! On this visit we had a window table
Great food! The crab, shrimp and steamed clams are amazing! It can be pricy, but great for a special occasion!
Great views, variety of choices, brunch on the weekends, service this time was lacking but not usually the case.
Everything was great! Our waitress was wonderful and accommodating, wish I remembered her name.
Great place, beautiful view and food was good, even though my fish and chips was a little under cooked they took care of that matter fast, service was good
The food was amazing, the service was great and our waiter Robert did a great job! Will definitely be back.
Experience was awesome! Great food, great night-time view of lights on the bridge, excellent service! Only downer was lack of parking. We got lucky that it only took 20 mins. to find a spot... Otherwise a great time had.
When me. And wife son got there at 6pm there was no parking any where so we looked for 3o min but nothing then a car with blinking lights told us to move on so with no where to park we left I will not be back don't need the b s
We waited over a half hour for our dinner reservation and then accepted a table outside. It had a heat lamp but was still not optimal. This place has gotten too crazy. The service was good and the kitchen is fast, but the food isn’t that great. They just add a ton of butter to everything. And the crowd is out of control.
We’ve been coming here for years and brought many friends. Food has continued to go down hill and the service very disappointing. Over server was fine but the hostess was so rude and incompetent it ruined the evening. The manager wasn’t much better. Halibut was very dry and clams were overly seasoned. The Cioppino was very good and so were the fried artichokes. Overall we were very disappointed. Will not be make.
Great view, goodstaff. Food is ok. I wish they can put more personal touch. But price is reasonable.
Awesome, had a great time celebrating my hubbys bday there. Awesome food. Definitely a hidden gem. Will go back soon.
Over priced Meat was Tough not good quality. The wedge salad was just the core of the salad. Ordered a loaded baked potatoe and their version is to only put American Cheese on top for $2 more. Not the standards for the prices they charge. Better options in Monterey.
2nd time we have been there. Food has been outstanding both times. First time we sat in the bar area and this time we got a table in front of the big fireplace. Noise level was louder than normal because of a birthday party but was still very enjoyable. Recommend this place to anyone who likes seafood.
First time here and we were underwhelmed. We had a 7:15 reservation on a Friday night and we didn't get seated for >20 minutes. (What's the point of a reservation if we had to wait with everyone else?) We were seated at a wayward table - half booth, half chairs, near a kitchen entrance. The table was too far away from the booth seat so it wasn't that comfortable for two of us to eat. There seemed to be a lot of wait- and bus-staff, but it took a long time to get anything. We weren't even given bread while we waited for our dinners until we asked for it. It was way too loud for us, too. The one bright spot was the food. We liked our crab cakes and cioppino a lot. The spinach salad had fresh greens, which we liked, but it was not dressed well so we had to add some oil & vinegar. We might come back on a night/day that's less busy b/c the food was tasty. But given the distance (we came from Concord), I don't know if it's worth it.
