The Dead Fish
Made reservations for 6pm and still had to wait about 30mins. Requested for a window table as we were out celebrating my husbands birthday and I thought we were waiting long for that particular reason. Lady at checkin desk had said it would be a longer wait for the window table and I said ok. When they brought us back about 30-35mins later, it was not even a window table. By that point, I was too tired to even complain. It took forever until we got more bread. And, my usbands birthywas not even acknowledged. What a terrible birthday dinner!!!
Food was average at best for the high price. Interesting place, nice view. Kids options for food was less than average.
have been going for so many years, almost once a month. By the way, one concern is the crab louie salad, not enough crab, for a grand old place, don't skimp on the crab, that's cheap.
We made 5:00 reservations to the Dead Fish for our 40th wedding Anniversary April 14th...Upon arrival we were seated right away at a nice table in front of the fireplace, very quickly Chad our server came to take our drink request. We made our dinner choice and enjoyed our drinks , appetizers and conversation .
Dinner was fantastic and the ambiance was very nice. The service and all of the staff we interacted with was great. We enjoyed our dinner at the Dead Fish and we will be back.
The best crab in town
Our waitress, MJ, was outstanding as always. We had a table near us being a bit unruly with noise/kids and she totally took control for all the tables to enjoy their experience. Our afternoon was great and she was part of that experience.
Crab, salad, garlic noodles, calamari and drinks were all great!
I had a great time here Saturday with my husband and young son. The cioppino is truly amazing. I wished we had been served more bread (I love dipping my bread in the tomato sauce). Also I didn't appreciate the girls at the front be huffy with me about not adding my baby to the reservation. I did not know we needed to include him since I was not planning on ordering him food. Otherwise our waitress was very nice, and the ambiance was perfect. Would recommend.
Very good food and service. Beautiful view! Will definitely return.
It's always a great experience when we eat at The Dead Fish. Especially, when you have a someone like MJ taking care of you. Her knowledge with the menu and attentiveness is on point. After a long work week for my husband and I, what a way to end a Friday night!!
Outstanding food, staff, experience, and time. Had a fun and memorable evening and food. Highly recommend it.
Cold crab on hot soup
Crab in crab enchilada was cold sauce hot
Mussels not as hot as they cold have been
Food was a little rich but that may be just us.
Should have sat in the bar area or outside where the views are spectacular.
Dining room views are limited since the windows are half height vs the bar where they are almost floor to ceiling.
Our first time here and not our last! The view was amazing and the food didn’t disappoint. I got the Cioppino and it was incredible!! I recommend going to an early dinner and catching the sunset down the road after dessert. Great date spot.
Birthday candle and the birthday singing at the was a special treat I just enjoyed the whole experience thank You. Dead Fish staff.
Leisure lunch date before i leave for 3 weeks for work.
Wonderful food, great water view, excellent service! Better than before!
My husband and I had lunch this past Monday. Staff was super friendly and jovial. Portions were very good, we got to take some home. The atmosphere was very casual, quiet and the view was amazing. We look forward to making this a regular date in the future.
The food is pretty consistent here, tasty and straight forward. The view of the straits is beautiful and sitting outside when it’s open is a great experience. Our server, John, was personable and efficient.
Nice restaurant on the border of the Bay. The server was seemingly busy but still attentive. I expected more of a romantic spot, not so much here. The food was awesome, I'm in love with the crab lasagna. For the most part, the scenery of the Vallejo bridge and water is what's worth the price.
We were very disappointed that they had primarily farmed fish instead of wild caught. The service was excellent and environment festive.
The food was delicious. The server was great!
Great place to celebrate a Birthday
Service, food, view, all wonderful. Would highly recommend Dead Fish for any occasion.
Not impressed, very expensive. Wait staff is nice and atmosphere is pleasant.
Wonderful ambiance in a great location! The food is excellent, and the portions are a touch generous for the price point. Service was attentive, but not over-bearing. We brought our own wine, and there was no corkage fee. Reservations are recommended. Parking can be a challenge, but there is ample street parking if you are willing to walk.
Recommend patio dining. Food is excellent and prepared well. Portions are a good size.
Chad in the bar area was great! Cheerful and funny even though it was super busy. Chris was our server once we were seated and he was awesome as well. Personable and efficient. The food as always was amazing. Love love love the crab. And my lemon drop was tasty.
Made a reservation to celebrate my wife’s 49th birthday and specifically requested a window table. Arrived @ 7:40 for an 8:00 reservation. They told me there would be a wait for our “reserved” window table. At 8:30 they finally buzzed us, as our table was ready. The hostess then proceeded to take us to the back of the restaurant to what felt like a closet. The table was VERY small for our party of four and next to a large and very loud party. When my wife expressed that we had reserved and waited for a window table, the waitress rudely explained that this was the only table available unless we wanted to wait a very long time. At this point I thought the hour we already waited was long enough. So we sat down to eat. Long story short.... it took 45 minutes and 3 requests to get bread and butter, which came after we were done with our salads. Our waiters’ name was Mike and we nicknamed him Mr. Personality. He would have been a bad waiter at Denny’s. For a $300 plus meal he was a disgrace to his profession. This at one time was our go to restaurant for special occasions but it seems like the service gets worse and worse. What is the point of a reservation, if it still takes an hour to be seated and make NO ATTEMPT to accommodate any special request. Then when you say something the staff is unprofessional and down right rude.
My wife and I have lived in the East Bay area for most of our lives but for some reason never made it to the Dead Fish. We had heard many of our friends rave about the place and decided to give it a try. Although the location is great, the selection is nice, and the outdoor seating in the summer would be superb, it fell short of our expectations on this particular Saturday night. Although we were able to make a reservation at a reasonable time, when we arrived it felt like a zoo, with people standing around everywhere and making a lot of noise. The potential for a great ambiance was there, but there were just too many people crammed into the space, and the noise level made it less appealing given they charge a fairly high price for a meal. Even sharing a meal we barely made it out under $100, and for that price I am expecting a memory or two. The food was good, the garlic butter and bread was heavenly, but the shrimp was less than spectacular. It seemed that the other patrons treated this place like an affordable and very casual dining establishment, but I was hoping for something a little more special. We will probably not be returning any time soon. For those who enjoy all the noise and atmosphere, it is probably the best place for miles. But for us we aren't looking for action, but rather a great memory.
The food and service was fantastic! Our waiter was courteous, attentive and very knowledgeable of all the food items on the menu. The price seemed over the top considering the casual dining area. Although the fresh air is nice when sitting on the patio, the murky water is not much of a view.
This place is always great it’s a bit pricey but the food delivers every time. One of our faves
This place was great a couple of years ago. Maybe it was just a bad night but the service was horrible during my experience.
Over cooked and over priced seafood. The crab lacked flavor and the mussels were like rubber. Service was just ok. Also, we had a reservation but still waiting 20 minutes for a table.
The crab and shrimp on skillet was truly amazing as were the mussels. Creamed spinach off the hook wonderful
The food was fantastic. The crab had a unique flavor and didn't need any garlic butter sauce. The sea bass was tender flaky and full of flavor. The highlight and surprise of the evening was the creamed spinach. I've been partial to spinach from a small boy and I have to say this was the best spinach I have ever had in my entire life. It just topped off an enjoyable evening. THANK YOU VERY MUCH!!
Everything was perfect except I was waiting for them to sing happy birthday to my wife. I added birthday to the reservation but I guess they forgot to communicate it to the server
A bit loud but fun!
We had to wait and ask twice to get bread
Too many tables for one server
Would I recommend The Dead Fish? Can I say "yes" and "no?" I'd say yes for the view and the service, but no for the food. Our party of 4 shared a large order of fried calamari as an appetizer; it was dry. Two of our group had sand dabs which they thought were just ok. Another had a fried shrimp dish on which she did not comment, and I had the crab louie which had minimal crab meat on it.
