The Dead Fish
The service was amazing! I really appreciate the effort that provided a great experience. We will be back! Our guest from out of town loved it as well!
It was my first time to the Dead Fish. The food was good. The view was great. The service was bad. He had a great personality but he seemed overwhelmed. It took a really long time to get our bottle of wine. When we joked that we thought he had to make it, He told us that he had too many tables and there were no runners for the drinks. Our food came out pretty quick though as there were food runners. My friend ordered a salad and a main dish. She got the salad as her main course and never got her main meal. Our server had those handheld machines to enter the food so I don’t understand how he could have forgotten to put it in. And he didn’t even offer to get her salad off or offer her anything to make up for his mistake. And it took an even longer time to get our second bottle of wine. Needless to say we will not be back. I don’t care how good the food is but if the service is bad I won’t be back.
Super fun for Easter! Lively environment, family friendly, beautiful views and the food and service was perfect!! It was a ten!
We were very pleased to be seated right away on a busy Easter dinner hour. The wait staff was very attentive and efficient. The food was delicious and the portions generous, with one exception. Two people ordered the garlic noodles, one with crab and one with chicken. The bowls were small, especially compared to the platters the other meals were served in. Could be more generous with noodles, one of the cheaper items! We had a great view of the Carquinez Bridge. It was a bit noisy, but that was expected on a holiday.
I will return the service the food the atmosphere fantastic I was sooo impressed you will not be disappointed
Fun place but very loud, it was difficult to have a conversation. The food was fine, not fantastic. The clam chowder was bland. Stick with the basics, don't come with expectations of Walnut Creek-style fine dining, and just enjoy the view and the fun atmosphere.
I enjoy the garlic crab, the garlic noodles, the bruschetta, and that caramel crunch cake was seriously good.....
We heard about this restaurant from many people and decided to try it on Easter Sunday which was my birthday too ! The place was packed when we arrived and our reservation was mixed up but they seated us outdoors in a nice location so we could bring our dogs with us. Normally we don’t bring them , but with the holiday and we were headed north after dining so we had them. We got settled and were reading the menus , when the waiter said we had to change tables ! They gave us a vague explanation and though there were many tables around , they made us move all the way to the back as if we were not worthy of sitting near the actual restaurant! Very rude indeed ! And it was my birthday which was never mentioned by them. Just serve and move on. Nothing about the experience was remotely enjoyable ! They even forgot one of our meals entirely! The manager was right there too as she was dealing with another table that was complaining about the service. Now I know it was a holiday but surely they would have been more prepared! I would not ever recommend this establishment nor would I go back! Horrible experience!
The server was not the best. I saw the table card make note we were there to celebrate a birthday and no one made any mention of the event we were there for. He was very slow and took for ever to show a dessert menu, which was on his possession the entire time. The saving grace was the beautiful outdoor seating.
We come to The Dead Fish all the time and this last meal was hands down my favorite. I had tue cioppino with the Parsely sauce and wish i had ordered the bigger pot. Will be ordering this from now on.
Such a fun place for a family gathering! Spent Easter here and it couldn't have been better for the 10 of us. The food is so good, atmosphere is lively and reminds me a an "mobster" style restaurant that you'd see in movies (pics all over walls, booths, waiters in black and white). Have been here numerous times and each time leave happy with our meal and time spent at The Dead Fish! Already ready to go back and have the Cioppino!
Just hard to find parking because of Easter
It was Easter Sunday and they handled the expected large crowd very well. Our food took a little longer than usual, but they were nice and gave us updates. Great service.
this is our 2nd year for Easter holiday. We were offered spot inside or outside we chose outside. great view great table. awesome service. delicious food and cocktails.
Was good, very over priced
We had excellent service, the food was delicious, and an overall outstanding experience!
Fresh sea food .... we got Crab, Shrimp, Mussel planter , Prime Rib with mashed potatoes ... so good ....
Food was great. Beautiful views. Not sure if waitress was overwhelmed with tables but alittle slow on service. However, when she got to us, she was great. The support staff, (servers) were awesome and did a great job assisting our waitress.
Great view and great food and good service. Usually you get one, maybe two but rarely all three at the same time. I eat here every month or two and The Dead Fish consistently delivers all three. The kitch in the bar is cute and I like the nautical theme in the dining room. The patio is 1 or 2 table deep so everyone gets a great view.
Get the patio tables when the weather is nice, and sit back with drinks and delicious food with gorgeous views right in front of you. We absolutely love the "No Corkage Fee" to bring our own wine, you know the more wines people drink, the more food people order to go with the wines. Many of the food came in big portion = good for sharing. Must visit restaurant when we have out of town guests.
All the dishes our party had were delicious. The cioppino was truly excellent, rich broth densely laced with a verity of fresh seafood. Service was very attentive and no corkage, a plus. The view of the busy Carquinez Strait is lovely.
The Dead Fish is always a good dining experience: lovely views, great food, (clam chowder is one of the best I have had), good service. Suggest that server remind customers who are splitting orders how much of the main dish each will receive. Two ladies split the crab cakes and received only two each (small ones). They said the flavor was delicious!!!
We and I will be back soon!!!!!
Excellent service. Loved sitting in the cabana.
We have good memories of the Dead Fish having been going there for decades. We had not been in quite awhile. My son and his wife said they went there a few months ago and thought it was pretty good. This current experience for us was not all that great. The waiter though friendly, was not attentive and seemed distracted. He left us sitting waiting to order for at least 15 minutes. We were beginning to think he was not coming back. Finally we ordered. I had the Shrimp Fry, and my wife had the Crabwich melt. The Shrimp were so greasy the breaded coating slide off the shrimp. Plus these shrimp were small, and there were only 8 of them, but seemed less since so small; they put them on top of a large mound of french fries. The fries were actually good, they were seasoned but I think they were trying to make up for the small portion of shrimp with a giant portion of fries. My wife's Crabwich was dry but she grabbed some of my tarter sauce and improved it enough so she enjoyed it. The Shrimp Fry was $22.99. I have had better at half that cost. The environment smelled moldy and felt dirty. The bus boys shirts were all dirty and stained looking very unclean. We ate very early in the dinner sitting so were surprised at how dirty everyone was. I had asked for additional seafood cocktail sauce, but my waiter forgot, and by the time he remembered I was about done. So the experience was not awful, but it was a long way from being worth the cost, and will not be going back any time soon.
Made reservations for 6pm and still had to wait about 30mins. Requested for a window table as we were out celebrating my husbands birthday and I thought we were waiting long for that particular reason. Lady at checkin desk had said it would be a longer wait for the window table and I said ok. When they brought us back about 30-35mins later, it was not even a window table. By that point, I was too tired to even complain. It took forever until we got more bread. And, my usbands birthywas not even acknowledged. What a terrible birthday dinner!!!
Food was average at best for the high price. Interesting place, nice view. Kids options for food was less than average.
have been going for so many years, almost once a month. By the way, one concern is the crab louie salad, not enough crab, for a grand old place, don't skimp on the crab, that's cheap.
We made 5:00 reservations to the Dead Fish for our 40th wedding Anniversary April 14th...Upon arrival we were seated right away at a nice table in front of the fireplace, very quickly Chad our server came to take our drink request. We made our dinner choice and enjoyed our drinks , appetizers and conversation .
Dinner was fantastic and the ambiance was very nice. The service and all of the staff we interacted with was great. We enjoyed our dinner at the Dead Fish and we will be back.
The best crab in town
Our waitress, MJ, was outstanding as always. We had a table near us being a bit unruly with noise/kids and she totally took control for all the tables to enjoy their experience. Our afternoon was great and she was part of that experience.
Crab, salad, garlic noodles, calamari and drinks were all great!
I had a great time here Saturday with my husband and young son. The cioppino is truly amazing. I wished we had been served more bread (I love dipping my bread in the tomato sauce). Also I didn't appreciate the girls at the front be huffy with me about not adding my baby to the reservation. I did not know we needed to include him since I was not planning on ordering him food. Otherwise our waitress was very nice, and the ambiance was perfect. Would recommend.
Very good food and service. Beautiful view! Will definitely return.
It's always a great experience when we eat at The Dead Fish. Especially, when you have a someone like MJ taking care of you. Her knowledge with the menu and attentiveness is on point. After a long work week for my husband and I, what a way to end a Friday night!!
Outstanding food, staff, experience, and time. Had a fun and memorable evening and food. Highly recommend it.
Cold crab on hot soup
Crab in crab enchilada was cold sauce hot
Mussels not as hot as they cold have been
Food was a little rich but that may be just us.
Should have sat in the bar area or outside where the views are spectacular.
Dining room views are limited since the windows are half height vs the bar where they are almost floor to ceiling.
Our first time here and not our last! The view was amazing and the food didn’t disappoint. I got the Cioppino and it was incredible!! I recommend going to an early dinner and catching the sunset down the road after dessert. Great date spot.
Birthday candle and the birthday singing at the was a special treat I just enjoyed the whole experience thank You. Dead Fish staff.
