The Dead Fish
We love this place but service was not very good this time and hot food was lukewarm. However, that will not stop us from going again
It was one of the most enjoyable birthday luncheons we have ever had. Leo, our waiter, was friendly, meeting our every request with a smile. All six of us were unanimous in our praise of the food. Even the weather was cooperative with blue skies and bright sunshine the perfect backdrop for this unique setting. I recommend lunch or early dinner times to enjoy the outside views and inside hospitality.
I really wanted to love this place. Lots of things were great. We were seated right away at a nice table. Service was very attentive. The place has a nice ambiance. We only had two things, so that is all I have to judge the food by. We had an iceberg salad, which was fine. We also had a large pot of cioppino for two. That tasted good, but did not seem like good value to me. I mean, here is a restaurant that prides itself on its crab, yet charges $50 for a pot of cioppino that includes no (zero, nada) crab? That did not seem right to me.
We had a reservation for 6:30 and because of your difficult parking lot, we did not get inside until 6:33. We were made to wait until 7:18 before we were seated, watching numerous people (with the same sized groups) come in an be seated long before us. We felt like we were being punished for the three minutes we were late.
The food was wonderful and the wait service was exceptional.
The atmosphere, the flavor and quality of the food was great! Definitely will come back again. Service was amazing.
Very buy restaurant. It took a while for server to arrive to the table; she was very helpful on recommendations. Food was fresh and good but nothing spectacular. Roasted Crab was good and did not come with sides. Shrimp Louie good, with large shrimp, but not something to rave about. Prices are on the high side. Not very many restaurants in the area to compete with the Dead Fish and I suspect that is why prices are higher.
Excellent food and service on a busy Presidents Day. We will definitely return.
On this visit, our server charged our bill to another table’s card and ours was charged to that table. I brought this to the server’s attention. Server corrected it but then he didn’t cancel the first transaction because we got charged for the 2 different bills (found error with bank. We’ve been many times and this was the only negative we’ve had.
Everything it was cracked up to be!
I don't like the menu has changed for none seafood eaters like me. Especially the meat lasagna.
I had a reservation at 8:15 but i did not get seated for a while . overall nice place and excellent waiters
The seafood squid ink linguine was AMAZING
Valentine celebration ❤️
Appetizers come to are table after we had the dinner, and was really cold in the patio heather didn’t work.
We got to sit next to the fireplace. One of my dreams on our valentines date.
Have unknowingly driven past the place hundreds of times over the years. What a pleasant surprise to discover it. Great vibe, awesome food, nice views, attentive service. They do not rush diners, we enjoyed a 2+ hour lovely dinner. We had cocktails in the bar before dinner and enjoyed the views. For appetizers I recommend the oysters, fried artichokes and crostini. For dinner our party of enjoyed the cioppino (best I’ve had!) salmon, crab, sea bass and crab linguini. Bring your own wine... NO corkage fees, unheard of in nicer restaurants. Our birthday girl was treated to dessert along with a candelabra of large candles at our table. MUST make a reservation. Next time will sit outside for brunch!
Amazing crab as always! Service is always outstanding! Always a favorite spot for my wife and I
had a five o clock res, seated at 530 not good , food was ok, over priced, won't hurry back
Soup was cold. Sea bass was good. Would of liked to have a better side than sweet potatoes
Excellent Food and a beautiful atmosphere! I love to sit by the bay windows to drink in the glorious scenery. Holidays and weekends, it tends to packed but still easy to access reservations online. Great restaurant!!
The service was terrible at this place. Starting with unhappy hoststess greeting us, and continuing receiving negative attitude from our server. As soon as we stepped in we were “greeted” with the hoststess that was very irritated and without saying much took us to our table. Our server made it seem like it’s not a big deal to serve a drink in a dirty and cracked glass. When my husband requested this glass to be changed she said it’s fine since it’s not luiqing. I don’t think we are ever coming back to this place seeing other servers don’t wash their hands after using restroom. This is very unsanitary and disgusting. Very unpleasant place due to poor service. Food was okay, had better food for this price.
Went their for a family birthday celebration. The service was great and the food was awesome from the prime rib to the crab.
I've been going to The Dead Fish for years and it is consistently good. I recommend this restaurant as well as their other restaurant The Stinking Rose in San Francisco.
Delicious brunch, good variety of choices, friendly service
Dead fish made us wait 45 minutes although we had a reservation. They claimed we were a no-show because we were at their bar ordering drinks during the wait; food was good when we got it but very displeased with how the manager didn't do anything to rectify the situation or give us a discount. Probably won't be back
This was the worst place i went too. We made a reservation had to wait 40 minutes to be seated. Food came cold drink was watered down. We was seated at a tiny I MEAN TINY table. For the amount we paid the trip we took to get there🤬😡😡😠 this place is the dead fish in my book im done
Great location, decor, and friendly staff made our 1 hour long wait despite having reservations bearable. The food is amazing. I ordered the beet salad and was pleasantly surprised. Also ordered the delicious crab. Seasoning was fantastic on the crab and there was plenty of it. Since crab is what they are known for, that should be expected, and not did they deliver on it! Highly recommend coming here, just maybe not the weekend after Valentine's day unless you want to wait until 9pm for your 8pm reserved table.
Sharin, the general manager is amazing 💜 and so was my server/service. thank you!
Great Food .. it was very crowded when we got there we were seated 15 minutes after our 6:30 reservations, but regardless the service was great and the food came pretty quick after we ordered. We will definitely be coming back.
Our hosts name was Chad. He provided excellent service and was very helpful in answering any questions on the menu.
No parking. Overbooked. People standing everywhere. We made our reservation weeks in advance but ended up in the bar on a table so large and the bar so noisy we could not hear each other. Other people desperate for seating came over and asked if they could sit with us. The waiter was overworked. One of our dishes was burned. It took 3 hours to get through our meal because of delays. We spent $374.00 without tip. Only one drink with alcohol. My husband could not join us because there was no parking in any lot nor in the neighborhood on the hill. NOT worth the hassle and food is nothing special.
Superb as usual!
This restaurant never disappoints. The food is always amazing! Can't wait to come back!
Awesome service from the moment we walked in. Ordered the Cioppino and crab legs. Both were great. Server was friendly, professional and attentive.
We loved the Dead Fish. We have been several times and have recommended it to many of our friends.
I made a reservation was 1s put outside and it was cold then put in a back room really wanted the front room with a view of the water. My reservation was at 3pm and thought that wouldn't be a problem. We were kinda left in a corner. Food was great and would come back and have told friends how good the food is.
Made a reservation and still had to wait 25 minutes to be seated. The greeter claimed that there were no walk-ins and if that's true then why would there be a wait. Then the greeter failed to mention that our pager would not work if it exceeds a certain distance, therefore, we missed our notification for our table. The only thing that saved this restaurant from a very poor review was our server. Aside from the fact that there was a piece of hair in our fries, the waitress accommodated us with an upgrade of fries and free dessert.
We had a reservation at 8:30 pm. We arrived early and they told us we cold wait at the bar. They checked us in at the time we arrived. They told us that we could come back to the hostess at 8:30 to get an alert buzzer when our table was ready. At 8:45 I went back up to them to ask about our table. They said they were seating people in the order they arrived, even though we had a reservation. I knew this would be bad, so luckily we found a seat at the bar and could eat dinner there. By the time we left at 9:30, we still had not been seated or buzzed to be seated. As we were leaving we told the hostess that we had waited for over an hour for a reservation at 8:30. She looked stunned (even though she was the one I was talking to earlier). As they rooted through their list, I could see that they had crossed us off as though we had been seated. Completely disorganized. I'm just glad that we got a seat at the bar otherwise our night would have been ruined. The food was pretty good, but I suggest sitting at the bar. The bartenders are great at their job. The rest of it was a racket.
Everything was perfect, only thing they can improve is restrooms they need to be cleaned besides that we had a great time always enjoy their food and service.
Even with a reservation they were going to make us wait an additional 45 minutes for our table. So we sensed up sitting on the patio. The server told us they were short staffed, which ended up with poor services and unappetizing food.
