The staff was very courteous and helpful. The food was amazing and there was a very large variety of options. I had an amazing birthday lunch. The table was set very elegantly. The music fit with the atmosphere. It was a breath taking experience. The food, music, service, and environment were all perfect.

Its probably our 20th time enjoying Sunday brunch at the Davenport and as always the selection was fantastic, sushi fresh, homemade crapes, leg of lamb excellent, prime rib cooked to perfection, all of the sides were amazing, stellar service, worth the trip for Montana , every time !!
Come hungry!

The historical room was incredible and the food was excellent. I was so impressed by the variety and the quality of the food selections. I felt the staff at the food stations were well informed and very professional. In particular, the dessert bar was over the top in it's variety of small tasty treats. The custom ice sculpture at the seafood bar was beautiful!

My only complaints are how crowded it was for the cost of the meal. I felt the tables were pushed too close together. I would have preferred that there was a dress code simply because for the cost of the meal, I was surprised how casual many people dressed. It would have been nice to have a coat rack or coat check. My coat was long and was on the back of my chair so it was stepped on by patrons. The wait staff was very slow because they seemed to have too many tables to serve and it took a long time to get our invoice which we needed to ask for.

Our waiter was very attentive in spite of his being very busy. He explained where the stations were located, kept our table clean , coffee and champagne were refilled as needed. We enjoyed ourselves and will return in the future.

The only disappointment was the waffle line. Only one iron was working so it took awhile to get one. Our waiter was excellent.

The food just wasn't as good as last year. Don't know if it was over-booked, the tables were just packed together to the point that it was difficult for the servers to work. The prime rib and the pork were over-done , but the ham and all the cold seafood were excellent. The advertised braised short ribs had been replaced with the tough stuffed pork. We will go back next year, because this is what we do on Christmas and hopefully it will be back on the Davenport track of wonderful food without the crowded mess since Christmas is on Tuesday.

Overall the food was very good but I was so disappointed with the service. When we were seated we were told we could wait for our server or start eating. So our table of 5 filled our plates and began eating. The place was bustling with servers to every table but ours. I thought the server would come since we were all seated and we were at the table between the ballroom and the Hall of Doges right by the stands where the water/champagne stations were. Our waters were low and no champagne was offered although the table next to ours had an attentive server who kept going over there. I looked around several times at various servers like "hey, anyone notice us?'. When we got up for round two a server walked by and I said May I have some champagne please? so my glass & my husbands was filled. Then on the second round our waters had not been touched so in disgust I got up and grabbed a pitcher from one of the stands and filled up the glasses. Immediately I was flanked by a server wanting to take the pitcher from me and finish. I felt like - don't bother, we have been up and down serving ourselves why show up now? Same with our plate removal - when my husband came back from his first round his plate was still there and so was my son's. He mentioned it so when he got up for dessert I grabbed all of the empty plates and put them on the tray!!! On a good note when the hostess saw my snapping pictures she offered to take a group shot of the whole table. I love the Davenport and have wanted to come to the brunch since we moved to Idaho but it was a let down. However I appreciated the chance to say this, I would not go on YELP etc to bad mouth the experience.

It’s an experience, but not a value. The poor wait staff was clearly spread thin, and when we got up for a final run to the buffet we found half of our unfinished drinks removed presumably because they thought we had left. Great selection of items though, done well for a buffet but not quite as good as their restaurant counterparts.

This was a birthday brunch for my mom and there were 10 family members together. The food was great but our reservation was at 11:15 and we waited more than a 1/2 hour to be seated (close to 12:00 by the time we sat down). Our table was ok - not great. Also, 2 of the 10 chairs were broken and there were several other broken chairs next to our table along the wall. Our used plates were not picked up without asking our server to do so. We had to find someone to refill our coffee and provide cream for said coffee. And finally, 2 of the party were children under 12 and I learned (too late) that we were charged full price for them. All in all, somewhat of a disappointment for a special occasion.

This is a tradition we like to do with our family on Christmas. We try to go out for a special meal every year. We enjoy going to the Davenport for their brunch but have also gone for dinners because it is so festive. We felt like the tables were much to close together for comfort and were disappointed that there was no wild fish served as in years past. In was so excited last year when they had wild salmon and looked forward to that this year but there was none. The service was excellent as always. The price is a bit extravagant.

We planned our brunch to celebrate the birthdays of 2 family members. Our reservations were at 11am and you had already run out of prime rib. Turkey was offered as a substitute but wasn't acceptable especially for the price per person in our opinion. Many other delicious food choices but the Birthday girls wanted prime rib and we were embarrassed. Not sure we'll return.

The dining tables were placed way too close to one another. It made getting up and down from the table difficult and uncomfortable. Our server was the best we’ve ever had anywhere, fantastic and very personable. The Davenport used to have the Sunday Buffet on the 1st floor in a much more intimate and elegant setting. For some reason it was moved to the 2nd floor in a very large banquet room and lost the elegant and intimate feel I’m used to. Normally a 5/5, but with the change in rooms/setting and too many tables/chairs, giving it a 4/5.

From the moment we arrived we were well taken care off. The reception desk and our host graciously welcomed us and seated us immediately. Mary was ready to meet us at our table and took care of our every need throughout the brunch. The food was wonderfully prepared and displayed and the variety was overwhelming. Our experience was beyond our expectations.

We attended for the Christmas brunch after hearing such rave reviews about the food and ambience. We had to make reservations through Open Table as the hotel did not take them. We were seated at a table for 4, but we were just a couple looking for a nice Christmas event. We were told the food was fabulous and a wonderful selection including fresh crab. I had dined in the PALM COURT earlier in the week and the hostess told me the crab is in season, and there would be plenty. When we asked our waiter he said none was being served this year as previously people ate too much of it! The rest was very disappointing. Bright lights in a large ballroom over-run by kids on a sugar high were enough to say that for over $100, we would not go back.

The service was slow and the food quantity was low. It was a popular time at the Davenport, but didn’t expect such poor level of service. The server did recognize it after it quieted down, and we were done eating.

We had a reservation for 1130 but we were not seated til nearly 1200. It was extremely crowded and loud. Buffet lines were confusing and disorganized. Food was displayed beautifully. The prime rib was superb, as was the sushi, lox, and shrimp. The fruit was lovely, so were the salads. Coffee was terrible, tasted scorched. Hollandaise sauce was tasteless. The grilled salmon tasted very fishy. Server was ok. Forgot iced tea for one of us, had to be reminded. Refills for mimosas were minimal. Asked if we were ready for the check while we were still eating? I have always loved brunch at the Davenport....now not so much.

Brunch was extremely busy, we were seated almost 30 minutes after our reservation. Due to the crowd, the noise level in the dining room was excessive - conversation was difficult with the quieter members of the party.

Service was top notch, food was very good.

We would certainly return, although we might try to choose a lower traffic weekend.

Overall our group of six thoroughly enjoyed the buffet. One person in our party is a vegetarian and another is gluten intolerant. Their food choices were surprisingly limited compared to other venues we've attended. Perhaps next year's Thanksgiving buffet could have a couple options for people with those dietary restrictions. All in all, everyone enjoyed the meal and the ambience of hotel. Our waitress was wonderful. We will definitely attend the Thanksgiving buffet again next year.

What is the point of making a reservation months in advance for 3 people and paying 65 dollars per person, only to be seated at a table set for 13? The Davenport Thanksgiving Buffet sets expectations high with its impressive menu and the ambience of the hotel lobby upon arrival, but that is where the positivity ends. Upon being seated at our huge round table for 13...all in a row, making it awkward to converse during dinner, and most likely appearing to others that most of our party bailed out, we waited for over 10 minutes before we finally beckoned to a waitress for another section of the room to take our drink orders. Ugh. The food itself varies from very good to bland. Highlights are the appetizers and the desserts. Fresh prawns and snow crab claws, along with a nice assortment of creative and well-presented salads and other offerings were delicious and varied. The desserts were also nicely presented and this year the dessert table was well-serviced and attended by staff, so the choices were kept well-stocked and neatly laid out unlike past years where one had to wait for refills of popular items and the tables were not kept from becoming messy. The main courses were ambitious, but only the turkey and the beef medallions were properly done and moist. The other meats, especially the fish, were overcooked and dry. The accompaniments were also, for the most part, victims of too much time on the warming plate. The macaroni and cheese was way past overcooked. The dressing on the other hand, was moist and delicious.
Still, even with the shortcomings of the food, the price would be almost worth it just for the indulgence and not having to eat leftovers for a week IF the hotel were able to secure competent staff who understand the real basics of good service and what is acceptable protocol for an upscale operation. A bill for over 200 dollars for three people for dinner warrants something beyond what the Golden Corral is offering in the way of customer service.
