A stellar dining experience. Fantastic food, great cocktails, and excellent service with a cool atmosphere. Always glad to dine at The Darling when in Charleston.
It was my husband’s first time trying raw oysters and they were a hit. The crab cakes and salmon dip were amazing. We would highly recommend this place to others. It was delicious.
Great raw bar! Loved the seafood plateau! Oysters were outstanding, as was the crab, lobster and shrimp. Highly recommend.
Great service amazing food
Celebrated my mom’s birthday at The Darling and it was fabulous! Our server Tristan was extremely knowledgeable and attentive!
Overall the food and service was excellent but it was a bit pricey.
We had a great meal here this week. The lobster roll was excellent. The fried shrimp was very good. Nice cocktail selection. Fun ambiance. Our server Ashley did a great job. I would recommend this restaurant.
Not at all worth the hype. We've been here for 4 nights by far the worst meal and experience.
Great service. Got us seated quickly and waiter immediately took our order. Good a d drinks were fantastic.
Reservation was made in advance. Table was not ready for additional 20 minutes. The vibe is great--nice bar, nice wine/cocktail selections. Slightly disappointed that the oysters were not local as I expected them to be as an out-of-towner. Shrimp & Grits was different in a great way. All of our food was excellent. Hush puppies are a treat...heck, it was all a treat!
A very hip, moderately priced upscale spot, the Darling is the place to be. We loved the friend oysters, shrimp cocktail and the drinks. Very reasonably priced.
Service was outstanding.
Great little spot, nice area with a pleasant staff
Great location, decor, and ambiance. Great value on Oysters ranging from $1.5-$4 a piece. Very hard to get a brunch reservation, expect it to be busy, bustling, loud since its such a popular place right on King. “The Captain” loaded bloody is social media worthy. We did have a scallop ceviche that was not good- it was a weird tomato-creamy with chopped scallop bits and frankly wasnt very Ceviche-like (more citrus/limey). Avoid it. Aside from that poor menu item, rest of items were tasty, great service.
Another evening of delicious food, refreshing drinks, and excellent service. Could not go home without sharing a bread pudding. A family favorite every time we visit Charleston
Chose to dine at The Darling for our last dinner in Charleston and it did not disappoint! Fresh and tasty seafood from the raw bar and delicious entrees and drinks! Our server, Kate, did a nice job of meeting our needs…will be back!
Fun times cute atmosphere
We loved the place, and especially enjoyed our waitress, Logan!
Spend your anniversary here!
Had a great night and again never disappointed. Oysters and the chicken sandwich were amazing. I also branched out and tried the shrimp and grits. They are solid!
Stick with the small plates and apps … main menu entrees were lacking. The vibe was cozy and chic!
Amazing time and great service! Cocktails were on point!
Visiting Charleston, we decided to have dinner at the Darling Oyster. The food is incredible! We started with sweet Carolinas oysters and they were light with a slight salty taste. So refreshing and everything we wanted. We had the oyster shooter and it was the best shot I’ve had! It had a unique flavor with just the right amount of heat. Our entrees were shrimp and grits so creamy and buttery with a delicious flavor hubby wanted to ask for a spoon to lop up every bit. I had the lobster and crab roll with fries and it was so good and flavorful! Our parents would have been proud we cleaned our plates! Dessert was bread pudding which had a wonderful crunch and caramel sauce on top. I had the s’mores and the chocolate was a wonderful balance between rich and light! The marshmallow was sweet and fluffy, it was perfect! Our drinks were delicious and had a perfect amount of alcohol in our drinks! Thank you to Kate our wonderful waitress she was so sweet and helpful! And thanks to the establishment for helping us celebrate our anniversary with the complimentary shooters!
Great service from Nick! Amazing food!
Really amazing food. The menu seems very simple at first glance, but the food was extraordinary. Definitely recommend sitting at the bar area near the oyster shucking station so you can watch all the action.
Very nice place! Excellent food and waitstaff! Wil return!
We had a great dinner at the Darling Oyster Bar. Started with the Darling Fashioned which was delicious! I ordered a shrimp appetizer and my husband oysters- both delicious! We shared a salad and the lobster/crab roll. Our server was terrific and made sure we has a great experience. Next time I think we would request dining in the bar area- seemed more vibrant but will be louder. If you are looking for a quieter evening sit in the dining room. We will be back!
Slow service, server confusion about menu, fried my server, mediocre dining room
We were recommended by friends and were excited based on their experience. We were not disappointed! The only thing that fell short was the mussels. I saw online a description much different from the version they had that night. I ended up with a marinara that was not up to par. The mussels made up for that. House special Paloma was amazing! Oysters amazing! Overall almost an overall 5!
Always look forward to being back in town and getting to eat at The Darling, and this visit was no exception. Hosting staff helped find a table that met our preference, server was knowledgeable of all of the oyster varieties and our Bloody Mary were phenomenal!
The Bloodys on Sunday are everything!!
Will return for sure.. everyone was fresh and place was clean..
Our experience was very disappointing. Server was nice but we were placed in the back corner of the restaurant instead of the more decorative room with the bar. I then found a 2-inch piece of plastic in my first bite of our Shrimp Creole, which they did remake.. but then found a hair embedded in the 2nd “redone” Creole dish. They did take it off the bill but the manager never came out to apologize and we did expect a lot more to be done about this disgusting situation.
Outstanding food, excellent service, good wine list. The oysters are always perfect, but we also enjoyed salads, crab cakes, crab pasta, and the shrimp/fish basket. Finished the meal with two amazing desserts, the bread pudding and key lime pie. This restaurant is always on our list when we visit Charleston
Garrett was awesome! Fantastic food, $1 oyster happy hour. The crab dip and clam strips are amazing. A must to try while in Charleston!
Had an amazing time. Only reason I did not rate 5 stars is because the cocktails were a bit weak :)
My husband and I ate on a high top in the bar area. The service and food were outstanding. Loved the open feel with the big windows! Would definitely recommend this restaurant to friends and family!
It was a big table but one side was getting great service. Not my side! We had to ask for drinks, then ask to order, then remind for the drinks. But the food was fantastic as were the drinks when we got them.
I ordered the baked crab dip and could only taste cream cheese, no crab. The hush puppies were burnt and the clam chowder tasted of only cream and butter. I also ordered the creole shrimp that had no creole flavor, tasted of garlic and whole grain mustard ;the rice cake was the most successful piece of the dish.
