We had a great dinner at the Darling Oyster Bar. Started with the Darling Fashioned which was delicious! I ordered a shrimp appetizer and my husband oysters- both delicious! We shared a salad and the lobster/crab roll. Our server was terrific and made sure we has a great experience. Next time I think we would request dining in the bar area- seemed more vibrant but will be louder. If you are looking for a quieter evening sit in the dining room. We will be back!
Slow service, server confusion about menu, fried my server, mediocre dining room
We were recommended by friends and were excited based on their experience. We were not disappointed! The only thing that fell short was the mussels. I saw online a description much different from the version they had that night. I ended up with a marinara that was not up to par. The mussels made up for that. House special Paloma was amazing! Oysters amazing! Overall almost an overall 5!
Always look forward to being back in town and getting to eat at The Darling, and this visit was no exception. Hosting staff helped find a table that met our preference, server was knowledgeable of all of the oyster varieties and our Bloody Mary were phenomenal!
Will return for sure.. everyone was fresh and place was clean..
Our experience was very disappointing. Server was nice but we were placed in the back corner of the restaurant instead of the more decorative room with the bar. I then found a 2-inch piece of plastic in my first bite of our Shrimp Creole, which they did remake.. but then found a hair embedded in the 2nd “redone” Creole dish. They did take it off the bill but the manager never came out to apologize and we did expect a lot more to be done about this disgusting situation.
Outstanding food, excellent service, good wine list. The oysters are always perfect, but we also enjoyed salads, crab cakes, crab pasta, and the shrimp/fish basket. Finished the meal with two amazing desserts, the bread pudding and key lime pie. This restaurant is always on our list when we visit Charleston
Garrett was awesome! Fantastic food, $1 oyster happy hour. The crab dip and clam strips are amazing. A must to try while in Charleston!
Had an amazing time. Only reason I did not rate 5 stars is because the cocktails were a bit weak :)
My husband and I ate on a high top in the bar area. The service and food were outstanding. Loved the open feel with the big windows! Would definitely recommend this restaurant to friends and family!
It was a big table but one side was getting great service. Not my side! We had to ask for drinks, then ask to order, then remind for the drinks. But the food was fantastic as were the drinks when we got them.
I ordered the baked crab dip and could only taste cream cheese, no crab. The hush puppies were burnt and the clam chowder tasted of only cream and butter. I also ordered the creole shrimp that had no creole flavor, tasted of garlic and whole grain mustard ;the rice cake was the most successful piece of the dish.
Mick was a wonderful waiter. Food was great too!
Stylish place with great food and service. Highly recommend.
Wow what can I say. Dan the bartender and all of the staff are amazing. Becky and I go to Charleston often just to dine here. Mike the manager runs without a doubt the best establishment on king street. The food is fantastic, the selection is great and the whole entire staff is not only attentive, but they strive for you to have an incredible experience. Do not sell your self short and eat anywhere else on King street. Just tell them fred and Beck said hello from Savannah.
In from Pennsylvania… first night in Charleston. Perfect spot for dinner:) my husband and I decided on three different oysters and cocktails while happy hour was close to an end… then shared three small plates: clam chowder, scallop ceviche, crab cakes, and the clam strips. Overall, everything was excellent!
The food was amazing! Atmosphere was fun!! Service was fantastic! I cannot wait to go back
Crab dip is amazing! Oyster shooters are a must too :)
Celebrating our wedding anniversary with friends. Good and service were great. We could not have had a better experience!
A wonderful restaurant and a nice menu selection. Cocktail menu was great
Very beautiful! Food was good, but not great. Serive friendly. 4 out of 5 place.
This was an incredible place for brunch while we were visiting Charleston for our anniversary. The staff was so friendly and nice, the food was SO GOOD, and the aesthetic inside is literally Instagram-worthy at every turn.
Our server was outstanding- she provided knowledgeable, honest recommendations and was very attentive. Food was amazing and so fresh. Must visit in Charleston!
We were really looking forward to our evening at The Darling Oyster Bar. However, we were greeted and served by an extremely unfriendly server and seated in an overly crowded area with tables and patrons within two feet of us on both sides. It was extremely uncomfortable in Covid times but also extremely awkward because we could hear every word of the conversations right next to us. There were plenty of other tables that we could have been seated at. We ordered the half size seafood plateau. The oysters were quite small and definitely not memorable. The shrimp and crab legs were excellent. The drink menu was small and uninspired. My husband ordered a Coke and rum but received a Coke and bourbon. We have been on a seven-day vacation and this restaurant has been our only disappointment. There are much better options in Charleston.
Had oysters and crab legs. Both were good but have had better crab legs for sure. Waiter and service was great.
We had a few raw oysters, cocktails, scallops and shrimp and grits. All very good
Food was excellent - seafood was all fresh and beautifully prepared. Double burger was a delicious surprise. Loved the room - lots of space and very cool vibe. Too pricey to make this a regular dining spot but absolutely perfect for a special occasion.
The only aspect of the experience that could have been better is our server. He was professional and very competent but he made us feel rushed by asking us several times if we were ready and if we were done. Knowing that there is a staff shortage in the F&B industry I'm hoping that we were simply catching him on an off day.
We will be definitely be back to celebrate special times
Oysters were excellent. Appetizer of salmon was the star of our meal.
Had a great night at The Darling Oyster Bar. They were out of two of the dishes we wanted but otherwise it was great, the oysters were fresh and the cocktails were delicious! Service was fantastic too.
Chris was a awesome. Cocktails and oysters were to die for. Highly recommend and we hope to return next time we are in town.
Food and service were perfect
Service excellent. We had Chris as a server. We ordered crab dip for appetizer which was excellent. Previous day we ordered crab dip at Waters Edge which we rated poor so plus for Darling’s. Wife had shrimp and grits which she told Chris was best she had! I ordered the half chicken which was delicious and crispy. Only down side was the mashed potatoes were cold and the beans way under cooked which I wasn’t eating either way. We recommend Darling and we will go back. Thanks Chris
Unbelievable!!!! The service the oysters the lobster omg!!!
I brought some friends from out of town to dinner and we had a blast!
This was an awesome recommendation and our family loved it! Great food and atmosphere. We would return here again!
Oysters are great!!!! Server must have been slow seemed a bit rushed. Or rushing us to order more!
Besides that it was fantastic
Oysters were excellent as were the crab cakes. The peach/tomato toast was nothing special, but I thought I’d try it. Might have been better if the peaches were riper.
I enjoyed my dinner at The Darling Oyster Bar. The best scallops I ever had. Great service.
