Fantastic meal. Food was excellent, service generally great- once we were seated the food was served promptly and it's one of the better values in Philly. Let down only a little by the fact that we waited ten minutes past our reservation to be seated, but on a busy Friday night I can't be too mad.
As a Brit living in the US, I often find British style pubs too kitschy but The Dandelion gets the balance just right. The food was tasty and the ambiance was great. My only issue was the cask ale was very expensive and tasted like the pipes were not well maintained.
Great lunch. Delicious salads and main courses.
The service was impeccable. Not at all overbearing but very attentive. We were seated a few minutes late but were given a free appetizer which we really appreciated. The food was SO good, and we love the various different rooms—all unique. We will make this a holiday tradition.
It is always a pleasure to visit the Dandelion because of the rain my friend and I arrived earlier than expected but they couldn't have been nicer in accommodating our early arrival.
Food and ambience great.
My group will return again. We really enjoyed ourselves.
Our waitress was not overly friendly and didn’t refresh my tea.....just very unenthusiastic about her job that afternoon. The food, as always, was excellent.
My mother and I came in for Sunday brunch. We come here frequently and it’s one of our favorite restaurants. Today it was cold and rainy so we came especially for the Sunday beef special. Oh my goodness it was perfect. We had some scones to start because you should always have desert first! And they were also delicious, the pumpkin scones were just the best fall treat. But the beef, the beef was mmmm just so good. It was cooked perfectly. Rich and juicy and THICK. The gravy was phenomenal and the Yorkshire pudding was airy and just right and the carrots were crisp and perfectly caramelices. Our server was delightful, so friendly and knowledgeable. Another great experience. Can’t wait until our next brunch here!
The waiter was great. My mom has a limited diet and he accommodated her with such ease. Food was delish.
Love the atmosphere! Promptly seated with prior seating request taken into account. Excellent service! Continual monitoring by management. Delicious food with awesome recommendations from the server.
I would recommend this place for a meal, just not for the Afternoon Tea. The prices are high, the food and drinks are skimpy and the sweet to savory ratio was off, IMHO. Too many teensy sweets and not enough tea sandwiches. Also, I'd rather have more of the traditional fare than so many different items...more traditional (cucumber or chicken salad or smoked salmon) sandwiches instead of two pieces of 8 or 9 different, and not always tasty, sandwiches. Ditto for sweets. The scones and sauces were very good. Just a meh experience...
Lovely English pub, great ambiance, phenomenal rabbit pie. Foods better than any English restaurant I’ve been to in London or Cardiff!
I brought my British mother to the Dandelion the day after Thanksgiving. She's been craving bangers and mash. I ordered the Dandelion salad and my dad had the fish and chips. All the food was excellent. Everything was cooked perfectly and fresh. My salad was delicious--which is hard to achieve in a salad. There were no bruised greens, the dressing was delicious. My mom was impressed by the Bangers and Mash, the gravy which tasted like red wine was delicious. It was authentic. Delicious.
The food and the service were wonderful, but the restaurant is very small. Our part of five were placed at a four-top table with an mini-banquette seat for the 5th person. This made for a very tight table. With drinks, a tea pot, and main plates, the table was uncomfortably crowded.
Absolutely delicious, friendly staff, very good ambient, love the architectural antiques style of the dining room...
Cocktails were creative and well crafted. Food consistently outstanding, ambience extremely comfortable. Always a positive experience.
Amazing time ! Food and service was great!!!!
Wow what a special restaurant. I'd you are thinking of coming here, and you like pub style food, just do it. You will not be disappointed.
Our table was ready as soon as we arrived and we were seated in a cute alcove area. Our waitress Katherine was great and knowledgable about the menu. The food arrived so quickly and was great. We are from Scotland and ordered all the classics on the menu. My phone is hard to please but she loved it all! We will definitely be back.
We went for the roast beef/Yorkshire pudding dinner. It was very good. The Yorkshire pudding was the popover type and thigh good, I prefer the way I make it (whole pan). Next time I will order medium rare - the server suggested medium for an even pink, which it was. My wife thought it was perfect but for me, while good, I think a bit under that would be better. Not a complaint at all, just setting the stage for anyone who goes. Roasted vegetables were very tasty as was the watercress salad. Bread was also excellent.
Best hamburger I’ve had in a long time - a little pricey but so delicious !!!
We brought our UK friends to experience our favorite local restaurant and bar. Good food and great service—rabbit pie, mussels and fish and chips Also great cocktails!
We arrived early but they were not able to have us until ur time. We wanted to have a cocktail at the bar while we waited, but it was extremely crowed and uncomfortable, so we left and found a wonderfuly enjoyable place called Rouge, and they were able to accomodate us for our cocktail. Then we returned to Dandelion for an interesting arrray of snall plates. some were tastey, others bland. we had many servers that night as is was extrememly bussy there. Sorry they lost our cocktail business. Will try Rouge for dinner next time.
Fabulous food, ambiance, service and quality. Would go again in a heartbeat.
Great atmosphere and food.
Our tea time was great. We had a variety of tiers including savory and sweet. There’s a kids menu with grilled cheese and pb&j sandwiches as well. The overall ambiance was of an old English pub with woody decor high ceilings, etc. Also-great options for those who wished to not have tea. A definite must. A+
Our dinner was very good. The food was brought in a timely manor. The ambiance was warm and cozy and welcoming. The only glitch with the night was, we had cappuccino at end and waitress began to move anything she could off of our table, brought the bill and kept asking if we needed anything else, or were we finished? Rushing us out. It felt uncomfortable and was disappointing because the night was perfect until then.
Amazing food and an incredible atmosphere. The service was so on point. I'd eat there every day if I could.
Great place to meet for lunch. Little disappointed with shepherd pie. Nothing like the real English version
This is a great little restaurant in Philadelphia. Located in one of the old buildings with several dining rooms on different floors, it has a lot of charm. The food is amazing and innovative. The menu ranges from classical dishes like Shepherds Pie to modern redesigned creation like Crispy Pork Belly on bed of Lentils. If still have try one of their delicious desserts. The service is friendly and observant. Overall it was our best dining experience in Philadelphia.
This is one of my favorites spots in Philly to bring friends from out of town. Great pub fare, excellent service, good happy hour and high tea!
Waiter was no nice man. Very mean! Food good.
Fabulous dining experience -- I've taken many loved ones here for their birthdays -- as was the case with my last visit. It was partner's b-day and this was the place that he wanted to go hands down. We had a great time, great food, great ambiance. Will definitely do this again!
Our waitress was very attentive and thoughtful. The brunch french toast is the best we’ve ever had - the reason we return to Philly once a year!
We had a lovely meal at Dandelion. Great location. Great local old time feeling. Great options on the menu. Generous portions.
First table too squished in to sit at. Then sat in pub. A bit less jammed in. Noise level high. Good waiter and not a long wait for food. Food was good.
This is a go to place for my wife and me. The food is fantastic, the ambiance is unbeatable, the service is always great, the beer selection is spot on. No enough great things to say about this spot. Highly recommended.
excellent food! We might have been advised to order a bit less but that's a minor detail. Burger was delicious. "triple cooked" fries were fine, but ordinary (the adjective made me think they'd be super crispy -- they were simply fine). carrot soup was delicious and interesting. beets (starter) were excellent as was the liver parfait. lemony barley risotto was excellent as well.
First time being here and it was amazing! I definitely will be back soon
Rabbit pie and deviled eggs were delicious. Service was great too.
I’ll definitely be back to have dinner/lunch with my family there.
