Love this place. Excellent food, great drinks, great service. You can't beat the ambiance and design of the space. I would eat here every day.
one of our favorite restaurants in philly!
Everything was awesome, the only annoyance was that we had a 9:30 reservation but had to wait an extra ten minutes until our table was ready. Also the were clearly a number of empty tables
We previously dined here and have noticed that their service has gotten slower and food quality is not as good as it once was. We were disappointed that the manager refused to accept our Open Table dining reward which was issued specifically for this restaurant reservation. Despite the restaurant's refusal, Open Table did make this right and reissued our reward points plus added 500 extra points. We will never go back to the Dandelion.
My friends and I (male and female) were in town for the Philadelphia Flower Show. I was in charge of finding a restaurant that would be suitable for our group. Everyone in our group loved the ambiance. It was a cold night and upon entering the restaurant was a beautful fire in the fireplace. Everyone in my group ordered something different. We shared the macaroni and cheese as an appetizer. It was rich and creamy. We also had salad which was crisp and tasty.
All the entrees were well received. They ranged from the Salmon to a Roast Beef Sandwich to Steak. All thumbs up.
In town for a wedding. Googled restaurants. What a find!!!!
We make sure to have dinner at The Dandelion every time we come to Philly. The food is consistently good as is the service. Excellent cocktails too. Love it here
Finally, I was able to secure a reservation. It was well worth the persistence & wait! Our server was excellent; he made us feel well attended with just the right pacing. My date had a mixed alcoholic drink that she declared made spot on. My wine; Pinot Grigio was well chilled, but could have used more body & tannins. I had salmon & she had chicken for entrees. Both were excellent. For dessert, she had ice cream & I had an English pudding. Both were outstanding. We plan to go back often. We now understand why securing a reservation is difficult.
We came for the afternoon tea. Pastries could have been less sweet but the tea was good (we got English breakfast and earl gray). Dining ware was very cute and the room we were in had a cozy, vintage ambiance. Our waiter however gave off a condescending and apathetic vibe - we were gonna leave a 20% tip but were put off by his behavior. Who knows, he might’ve just had a bad day. Overall would still recommend.
Our first time and we loved it! The ambiance reminded me of the old days at the White Dog on the Penn Campus. The waiter was efficient, but forgot to mention the macaroons of the day. Can't wait to return to explore the menu further!
The food and ambiance were great. Service was a little slow because it was very busy but that didn't bother us.
We usually have the English breakfast which is a very decent rendering of a traditional English Breakfast (we are UK expats). Service was friendly and efficient and the decor is interesting. can get a bit noisy depending on which of the various rooms you are in. Drinks selections are good but tend to be a bit expensive, although I guess for a center city hot spot you have to expect that.
Everything about our meal at The Dandelion was outstanding. The cocktails were fantastic (wines a bit pricey); the bread was so delicious -- do not skip it! Fun atmosphere, nice service, excellent food. One of my favorite dining experiences!
Not our first visit to Dandelion but every bit as good! A happening place with delish British food! That in itself made the evening fun. Creative cocktails and beer selection that make you want to have a big mug of something! Dandelion...try it you will like it!!!
Great food and service. We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves.
Delicious as usual! Always a great time here..drinks a little pricey!
Great food and service! Quaint atmosphere. Only downside was they don’t serve afternoon tea until 3 pm, which wasn’t immediately clear from their website.
Crammed us between two other tables both talking so loud we couldn’t hear each other. Would still come back just ask for a more private table.
We entered on a snowy afternoon to a blazing fire and sounds of happy guests. We sat in the Man's Best Friend bar room decorated entirely canine and it was cozy and comfortable. Great wait staff and unique menu. Terrific evening!
I love the Dandelion - it feels clubby and intimate, it is a good place to talk with your companion. The service is good, and I've liked all of the dishes I've had.
Great advice and attention from our server. The marinated beet/goat cheese/olive tapanade appetizer was amazing, as was the lamb shepherd's pie and fish and chips.
The food at Dandelion was mediocre at best, I had fish and chips and i was not better than Long John Silvers or Arthur Teachers,or similar fast food chains. My wife had the "Hare Soup" purported to be made with real rabbit, however the rabbit must have escaped doen the rabbit hole the day we ere there. We have had afternoon ra before, but unfortunately tea was not a prelude to dinner.
Loved our experience at The Dandelion for our special event. Took my daughter and 6 friends for dinner after she tried on beautiful wedding dresses at Anthropologie just down the street. The Dandelion staff were incredibly accommodating when we asked to arrive earlier than expected. Sat in a very cozy spot on the 2nd floor and our waiter Mike was amazing! Great voice, great service, and a lot of fun. The food of course was fantastic and everyone loved their choices (plus had enough to take home for lunch the next day, which is always a plus for young working women!). Can't say enough good things about this restaurant. Highly recommend!!! Thanks for making our evening even more memorable.
Most wonderful gem of a restaurant in Philadelphia. Authentic English Pub feel with eclectic, yet traditional food with wonderful flavors. Stellar service and great beer and wine selection. Can't rave enough about this place!! Been coming for 5 years now and never a disappointment. On the contrary, every visit is a celebration!
Second time with different friends. Every one loved it. We ordered two burgers, Shepherd’s pie, and French toast. We all cleaned our plates! Also ordered a cheese board for the table. Will definitely come back.
Great staff and phenomenal service. Interior of restaurant has a cozy feel to it. Brunch was delicious.
Excellent food! Great drink selection and service. Our table was a little cramped for 4 people. The atmosphere was very noisy and so dark even our teenagers co-host read the menu. The music did not fit the venue.
Would go again for the food and great service.
The food and service was great.
We were visiting Philadelphia to see the Terracotta Warriors and picked The Dandelion because it was within walking distance of our hotel. We had a great experience. The food was very interesting and the waitstaff was great. I almost never eat hamburgers but it looked tempting. It was fabulous! The beers were excellent, too.
I would come to Philadelphia again just to eat at The Dandelion.
Incredibly dark, crowded and noisy. Table for two was big enough for one. Food was okay certainly not the quality we expected from a Starr Restaurant. Fries were the worst I've had in ages. Thick and mushy inside- not crisp at all. All in all not a good experience.
Had a great time. Wonderful food, service and ambiance.
I had been dying to try this place for a while, and it was dissapointly, fine. Everything was ok. Not outstanding, but decent food and service. Cocktails were good.
First time here for the food and it was great, the ambiance, atmosphere, food (insta worthy), and service was outstanding.
Great experience. We went for date night, and the restaurant has a great homey feel.
We love this place. The room we were in this time was noisy. The dog room or the room at the top and back are much quieter. Otherwise, perfect.
Everything was fabulous except for the waitstaff who need to be trained better. Once of the servers slammed our entrees on the table (no apologies). Then I asked him for some extra plates and he left without an answer. Never came back !
Your restaurant was charming. We had a table next to us with a young woman and two children who decided to sing very loudly. Everyone was uncomfortable for a few minutes. That, of course, wasn't the fault of the waiter or the restaurant but it did affect our conversation for that period of time. The atmosphere was great and the food was very good.
The evening was spectacular from the food to the service. Our server Natalie was excellent, she handled a busy room with ease. Very pleasant to talk to and assist with any questions. The food was excellent, all three course were delicious. I would recommend it for any special occasion or just stop in have a quick bite and drink.
Great food as always. I'm always thankful for the Bombardier beer, just like a British Pub would have. Trish was the best for accommodating us in the "dog room".
