Get the steak. The cheese board and the tandoori chicken were also really good. Service was excellent. My cocktail was OK, but the beer selection wasn't bad.
A very disappointing experience. We've eaten here numerous times before and had friendly, charming service and a good meal. This time we arrived mid-afternoon to find Janis Joplin blaring at top decibel. Somewhat taken aback, we asked for the quietest table possible. We were taken upstairs and seated directly under the stereo speaker. I asked to be moved and the waitress disappeared for over ten minutes. On return she said that wasn't possible, despite the empty dining room and numerous better tables. Rather than eat a meal in dead silence, as conversation was impossible, we went down the road and had charming service and an excellent lunch. Why would I return here? You ask me - the service was less than a one star. Food - we can't say - we didn't get that far.
The dandelion is a very cool place to eat. There are multiple dining rooms and it feels like a converted mansion to restaurant. We loved the fireplaces and the general decor. We split the ricotta appetizer which was very good. My fiancé got the salmon papardelle which he liked, I got the shepherds pie - not mind blowing but I liked it very much. I wish we had gotten dessert, the toffee pudding sounded good!
Had a great time - food and service, as always, was excellent. Pretty tight quarters though (tables very close together).
Phenomenal atmosphere. Food was prepared to perfection.
My son joined me for an early dinner during restaurant week, Monday 1/3/2020. It was delicious and the restaurant week menu was well done! Thank uou
Always cozy and great service - would definitely go back. Yum brunch - try it all!
Atmosphere is so beautiful and old. Loved the food and service. We had a wonderful time.
The Dandelion never disappoints. It was wonderful
This place is awesome!
We have been to the Dandelion many times—for brunch and dinner. We always have a good experience. Love the ambiance, and the food is delicious. Brunch favorite is the French toast. They also have a fabulous Pimm’s cup. Next on our list is the afternoon tea!
Can’t wait to go back!
Firstly, our table for 2 was ridiculously situated, my husband couldn’t sit at it straight & was uncomfortable. The waiter was blatantly up selling to all his tables which was irritating to listen to over & over.
I ordered one of their specialty dishes, bangers & mash, when it arrived the mash was very cool & it wasn’t enough to fill me so we ordered a dessert! As a Brit this is a week night meal, & so simple to prepare, keeping mash warm is not difficult. The building is beautiful & very cozy.
Would I return? Probably not, I would describe it as overpriced mediocrity in a beautiful setting.
Grabbed a quick lunch with my brother and everything was great as usual! High marks
I must say that although the atmosphere was just wonderful, I found the food to be just average. The Malbec I ordered was truly a poor selection. I know your establishment does not suffer in patrons, but wish you could not have the quality of innovative food up one or two notches. You can do better.
The heating inside the restaurant was ridiculous. Made the dinner somewhat unpleasant, no need to have it so high. Not even that cold out.
Just not our favorite place for many reasons. If you like getting bowled over by servers as you wend your way between tables (hello, nice places stand aside for customers to go first!) , tasteless tonic water and overall high prices, this is just the place for you. Not us. Atmosphere is darling, but that's it.
Excellent food and staff. However, we had to ask multiple times for music volume to be lowered.
It’s always good, I love tea time. Simple but tasty and your beer flip... 👍
The entire atmosphere at The Dandelion is conducive to a good experience. The service, menu, and ambiance really work well together. There is a great variety (we were there for brunch) and the servers know the menu and are very attentive to your every need. We were there on a crowded Sunday afternoon (Eagles football day) and it was active, bustling, and crowded but we felt very well taken care of. The food was perfect. I was truly impressed with everything. This is my second time at The Dandelion and it will not be my last!
good food, a little pricey. However, service was poor. Our waiter never came to check on our food and had to flag down the manager for the check.... not a great dining experience when you have to do that. Disappointed.
We got there early so we ordered from the limited menu as they were still serving tea. I got lamb shepherds pie and we split a dandelion salad. My BF got the warm roast beef sandwich on sourdough and we split the triple fried fries. All of the food was delicious. I would definitely go again. The atmosphere was cozy and perfect on a rainy Saturday afternoon in January. Loved it!
Server was a bit rude when asked about the menu, which for us first timers, needed some further context. Food was great. Service could be friendlier.
Great food, great service. Make sure to have reservation, they are busy.
One of my very favorite restaurants. The food and drinks are great and the menu selections are never boring. The decor and atmosphere is fun and cozy. The background music is always the best, too. We like to bring guests here because it is such a charming spot. My only suggestion for improvement is to bring the lighting up a tad. I noted diners of a certain age, ourselves included, needed to use the glaring light of a cellphone to read the menu, which is sort of embarrassing. Otherwise, a fabulous place for drinks/dinner.
Pork belly is incredible, as with the chicken and duck pate! Amazing restaurant, can't wait to go back
Service was slow. Food was delicious.
The parfait was the best ting I ate in 2019
Afternoon tea was a great experience for our multi-generational group. It was a more casual, energetic setting than a London experience, so a perfect respite from walking the streets of Philadelphia. Enough choices for both those enamoured of scones and tea sandwiches and those in need of heartier fare!
We had a family New Year’s eve lunch and it was awesome! Both the service and the food was spectacular! Looking forward to going back.
Everything was great! Great food. Great service. Great beer.
This was my first experience having Afternoon High Tea at the Dandelion and it was fabulous!! The savory and sweet canapés and treats were delicious! We also enjoyed our teas and the selection of afternoon sherries! Highly recommend.
The food was very nice, but service was extremely slow and when they brought me. The wrong drink (larger than I wanted) they said they would adjust the bill it and then didn’t. I wasn’t much concerned about the money, which was minor part of a $90 lunch for two, I was more disappointed by the neglect to do as was promised. The food was lovely, I’ll try to remember that.
Wonderful experience, lovely building, great food. What else could you ask for?
When my daughter & I are in the mood for English breakfast we always hit dandelion. We both had English breakfast & we enjoyed it. The restaurant is too loud for my hearing problem but other than that it was fine.

Sat’d pm, timely if not early seating for 6pm reservation. Waiter cordial and diligent. Mussels, salmon and shepherds pie for the three of us; parents and son. Food quite good, including the bread and despite salty bean/ cauliflower addition to salmon. Mussels thought excellent. Shepherds pie very good. Dandelion salad excellent; with fine dressing. Sticky toffee pudding and huckleberry desert good but small. A tad dark in the dining area; but appreciated the comfortable seating arrangement. Not rushed. Very nice and enjoyable evening.
We have been here years before and loved it! It is a great ambiance and was decorated very nicely for Christmas. The waiter was so helpful and the food was delicious. Highly recommend the roast beef and the burger!
Great service; good food. Nice ambiance. Little loud. Ask for quieter place to sit if you want to have an easier conversation.
I found the Dandelion overly crowded. Our table for two was in a corner with a six top positioned such that some of the people sitting at the six top had to practically shimmy past our table to get in. My g/f had the chicken curry dish which was excellent but the menu is basically English pub and nothing more. Worse, for me, with onion intolerance, of the entire menu, I was told only the steak and burger could be served without any onion or onion powder in the meal. Sure, onion intolerance is not very common but most places I go either have more options or a kitchen that will accommodate my limitation. Our server spoke to the manager to see what I could have, the manager spoke to the chef, and there was definitely no offer of working with me ... so beef it was. Good thing I eat beef. The service was great. But it's just an English pub place and not worth the higher prices, IMHO.
