Slow service. Took 3 trips for 3 drinks. My daughter asked for no mayonnaise on grilled chicken and avocado sandwich and chicken was slathered in a mysterious red sauce. Fish and chips were served as one large hunk of fish that was wet inside. Waitress was apologetic but she was slammed. Asked for a Mai Tai and was told they couldn’t make it. No rum? Bill was $120 before tip. I won’t be back.
Great reincarnation of an old English restaurant and pub. Took me back to my time at the University of London, which is a really great memory. The Yorkshire pudding was a little over cooked, but the roast beef was perfect. Also enjoyed the flight of old English beers. Outstanding service. Wonderful ambiance. We will be back!
It was wonderful, everything was amazing
We had a wonderful brunch this past Sunday! The Full English Breakfast took us back to a recent trip to London!
I enjoyed the service and being taken care of here. Everyone was wonderful and on top of things. The food was great and the ambiance was great and lively as well which set a really great mood seeing everyone just happily chattering and enjoying themselves.
Always an enjoyable experience. This time with a friend from out of town; he also enjoyed the meal and service.
This was my second time having Afternoon Tea at The Dandelion, and my third time dining overall. It was just as tasty as my first two times! I went with my boyfriend--it was busy but we had a reservation so we were seated relatively quickly upstairs. Our server was attentive and did a good job reviewing the various offerings. We ordered the A Royal Occasion spread with a pot of Earl Grey tea, as well as a side of chips. It was plenty to eat for the two of us--we actually ended up taking a good portion of the sweets home with us. The chips are thick cut--more like steak fries than the sort of standard size fry--and were very tasty. Overall this is a fun, unique spot to enjoy an authentic and delicious English tea time experience!
Great staff and drinks and food!!!
Such an extraordinary experience- ambiance and feel of the rooms just puts you in the right happy place. Excellent food and in our case, lunch menu. A ‘“must” while in Philly!
Loved the basil punnet drink and the dandelion salad! Will be back for more.
Food was excellent
Amazing place for a date, the cheese board was EXCELLENT
Food was delicious. We shared the roast special, it was amazing. The cheeseboard was fun and made us feel adventurous. Apple Crumble for desert was heavenly. Salmon Cakes for appetizer was not my favorite, a little underwhelming. Service was mediocre (at best), though it was Valentine’s Day so perhaps they were understaffed for the flow. We had difficulty getting our waiters attention, and she failed to offer us many of the options she gave the table next to us (like pepper!!). We also struggled to be seated (even though we had a reservation) and they tried to force us to sit in the bar area.
We've been to Dandelion several times (including brunch) and they never disappoint. Love the food, the atmosphere and the service.
Valentine family night
Appetizers were great, but even more amazing was the ambiance of the entire place. Romantic, intimate, cozy. The great food was just a bonus.
I love afternoon tea at the Dandelion and plan to come again. We came on Valentine's Day and the room we sat in was too full. It was a little chaotic with a loud family with young children nearby. The waitstaff seemed overworked. The food and tea was great, but the vibe was off. I think it's my fault for coming on a busy day.
The dandelion is absolutely adorable. It is such a cute and quaint place to come for afternoon tea! I can’t wait to come back again. The tea and crumpets were scrumptious and it is a truly unique experience.
Staff here is always really friendly and food is always great!
Great place. Food fabulous, service good. Warm and cozy on a winter’s night. But it was so loud! Music should be in the background not the main thing! We asked the waiter to turn down the music but I don’t think he did.
This restaurant is one of the best that Philly has to offer. Simultaneously upscale and unpretentiously cozy, the decor exactly replicates a traditional English pub down to the mismatched tableware and chairs, functioning fireplaces and use of every corner of the space. Not to be outdone by the decor, the food is an unmissable experience. Do yourself a favor and make a reservation and get down to the Dandelion. Or don't and leave room for the true fans.
Server forgot our order of scones but everything else was amazing!!!! Great recommendations. Food was amazing and ambience was top notch
Great - good food, great experience all around
This could be a very romantic spot with the lighting and decor. However it was VERY loud the night we dined there. (Just with friends, not romantic dinner.) Food was excellent though. My favorite was the house-made ricotta appetizer. Service was pretty standard; did not feel neglected or hovered over.
Joseph our waiter and the server were outstanding! Our experience visiting from NY has made us want to come back to visit soon!
Lovely location, great staff. Afternoon tea was a great presentation. Some of the sandwiches had bread that was getting stale.
Love this place. Love the food, the feel, the ambiance, the service. Need I say more? Brunch Lunch Dinner are all winners
Cute place, but not if you have mobility issues because most of the dining is up a long flight of stairs. There are a few main level tables, but I would suggest that you include a request with your reservation. Food was good, had carrot soup which included toasted coconut topping and raisins. Tasty
Excellent evening and delicious
Everything was perfect. The only feedback I would give (and this is super specific) is that I went to great lengths to hide the surprise birthday dessert for my boyfriend, but before the dessert with the candle came out they brought out a dessert soon--effectively ruining the surprise.
Next time just bring the spoon with the dessert!
While the food seemed unsure if the kitchen could substitute mashed potatoes instead of roasted potatoes with our Sunday Roast; forgot to bring the mashed potatoes that we ordered in addition to our meal; did not clear off the tea cups and saucers on the table that were there from the mid-day tea. Our table was crowded and cluttered and we had to hand off the cups & saucers to make room for our appetizers. In addition, the bathrooms were in horrendous condition - papertowels strewn on the floor, the toilet needing cleaning and the trash can is in need of replacement - as it is rusted and grimy. This was to be a special night out with family and it was not quite up to snuff.
Took a good friend to tea for her birthday. Had a lovely time and they even brought out a candle in ice cream for dessert. We’re definitely going back!
Dandelion is a must experience in Philly. Cosy gastropub with great ambiance and fantastic food.
Fabulous food, unfriendly waiter.
Wonderful date night place!
Wonderful food, service and ambiance. Good value too.
Just had an interesting experience at dinner. I travel extensively for work and as a result often have to eat by myself. There’s a certain pleasure one derives from the opportunity to be alone with ones thoughts, and if one is being honest, with one’s technology over cocktails.
I was excited to eat at The Dandelion, it came highly recommended. Pulling up to the restaurant in my Uber, I must confess to being absolutely charmed by the quaintness of it all. The hostess was lovely, the lady who showed me to my seat—a small table tucked away in the corner. I was pleasantly surprised and grateful to have this little tucked away space, a bit removed from the thrum of cheerful diners.
Just as I was settling into the space, one of your employees, a black gentleman brought two male diners over. Apparently, he had agreed to move them (I’m assuming at their request so they weren’t too close to the large group of exuberant guests adjacent to them. So, in light of his I distance and persistence in asking if I minded relocating tables, I sadly caved to the request. While I could have firmly insisted on keeping my nook of a table, I acquiesced. But here’s the thing, I should not have had to. Placing a diner in such an awkward position, having other diners looking on and not making any move to be, themselves, accommodating, brought the first sour note to the evening.
I appreciated my cocktail—which was delicious by the way—being comped. The meal itself was very good, particularly the cod of your fish and chips and the sticky toffee pudding. Both eased my homesickness a tad and irritation.
But if I may, it’s the lovely little touches, that sense of deep consideration, and frankly, flawless manners that help carry a restaurant from being good to being stupendous and keeping it there. I’m sad to report I was not impressed with this particular host or perhaps he was a floor manager? He never bothered to check if the new seat was adequate or the dining experience good.
Met friends for dinner here. We have been to Dandelion before but it was their first time here. Our table was too small for four people but otherwise the food and service were awesome as always. The martinis are too small for the $ we will not order them again. Our entrees and a cheese plate were delicious and priced reasonably. The shepherds pie was the best of the four entrees we had.
One of my favorites! The food, the ambiance, the decor. Can’t be beat!
