The Daily Planet Ratings and Reviews
The Daily Planet was the perfect spot for a birthday dinner! A beautiful menu for large entrees or for sharing. Ambiance is cozy and eclectic, good for romantic dates or casual dinner with friends. Really something for everyone here!! Would definitely recommend to anyone traveling to Burlington.
Service was terrible. We waited an hour for soup and salad despite a relatively quiet Saturday night. During that hour our water glasses went empty and our server never checked in or apologized for the delay. When the food came and we protested gently about the wait, the server said, it wasn’t my fault. Food was fresh and well prepared but the formerly generous Maura’s salad was very skimpy.
Overall my family enjoyed their meals very much. There was a problem with getting our entrees out in a timely manner. They acknowledged the delay and were apologetic, but we were very hungry by the time the food arrived.
Luckily everything tasted delicious.
My family (includes our son and my husband and me) chose Daily Planet for two special occasions. One was my 11 year old son's birthday. They offer a kids menu too. We also all went for our wedding anniversary. We like taking our son because the restaurant has a nice vibe, not too fancy, but fun to expose our son to different foods. The waitress has been so nice and attentive. She remembered us from our first visit there and even what my son ordered, that it was his birthday and the brownie sunday for dessert. We like the corner booth seat in the garden room.
The Daily Planet was a great experience for our anniversary dinner. The service was amazing the entire time and the food was outstanding. Tomato Bisque with Grilled cheese croutons and the French Onion steak were the favorites of the night. Cannot forget about dessert, the Apple Cheesecake Wontons were the cherry on top of this delicious meal.
Also, a great selection of drinks.
We will definitely be back!
This is an off-beat restaurant. Menu is interesting. Had the Korean duck - excellent. All of the food was top notch and sharable. Service was friendly and knowledgeable. This is a great place for all kinds of get-togethers. You can make it as formal or as casual as you'd like. The décor is wonderful funky - reminds me of Berkeley in the old days. Very enjoyable - would definitely recommend.
The Daily Planet has long been one of my go-to restaurants; I often take out-of-town visitors there. And it's never disappointed - until this time. It was all about the wait. We were seated at 7:00; drink order at 7:15; drinks arrived about 7:30. Finally gave our order a few minutes after that - appetizer came in about 15 minutes. Our dinners were finally served at about 8:30.
I find this unacceptable and told our waiter. He spoke to the manager, and to give them credit they gave us a 25% discount. So I will be back - but one more wait like that and I'll be done with Daily Planet, much as I love Maura's salad, the delicious small plates, the creative cocktails and the tasteful, comfortable atmosphere.
We walked in and met the hostess who appeared grumpy and unwelcoming. The first thing she told us was that we could be seated but could not order for another 15 minutes because the kitchen was busy. The waiter was friendly and brought drinks right away . The food took quite a while to come and for the most part was
Good. The soups were excellent and the sliders and mac and cheese were good. The salmon was not good- it did not taste fresh and was in a mush on the plate. Waiter told me it was "on ice"
But did not seem interested in whether or not it was ok. Only has a few bites .
Great food in a cozy eclectic setting! Our severer by far was the best part of out dining experience, outgoing, friendly and knowledgeable about the menu. There are different sections of the restaurant, which are quiet. When we were leaving we noticed there was a very vibrant bar scene, however it did not interrupt our quiet conversation at dinner. Will definitely return.
