About The Daily Dish, A Restaurant & Catering Company
At the Daily Dish, the focus is on comfort food that is seasonally inspired, sustainable and locally sourced. We believe that the Farm to Fork experience benefits everyone from small farmers to our diners. We visit local produce markets to purchase seasonal, fresh produce. Our pita, focaccia & pizza dough are made daily. Our salmon & chicken are organic. We use fresh, pasture fed beef. We make our mozzarella, pickles, sauces, dressings & vinaigrettes in house from scratch. The cocktail bar has local tap beer, fun cocktails and a varied wine list. We follow these principles to cater your special event.

The Daily Dish, A Restaurant & Catering Company Ratings and Reviews
After eating here many, many times, it was really time to leave a review. We call DD the GS-14 hangout. DD is a mix of older, empty nesters, young families, singles watching the game and hanging at the bar. It's easy to get to, plenty of parking, and while it can be a little loud outside, it's lovely on the patio. During the week, everyone is still wearing their government badges and sharing a beer or a glass of wine and pizza. We love this place, whether we are with teens, with kids, with Grandma, with friends, with neighbors. The soups are always wonderful and seasonal, I love the mushroom app on the regular menu, the chicken and pastas are lovely, the burgers, sliders, pizzas are great and *always* leave room for dessert -- the ice creams are terrific and the bread pudding and apple crisp last night were excellent. From the daily menus, we've loved the short ribs, the risotto, soups, and the seasonal salads. Scallops and fish have been good too. I had the new apple, prosciutto, fennel one last night and it was delicious. We love the local beers. We've gone for New Year's Eve and it was terrific. The service is almost always attentive and always informative.
We hadn't been here before. There was a large variety of seasonal dishes in addition to the regular menu. One of us ordered a pizza off the regular menu and the other, a seasonal salmon dish (which was outstanding). Dessert was not as good as the entrees. Service was quick and helpful.
We were down visiting our daughter at UMD and just stumbled upon this online. Sounded good - thought we would try. AMAZING! If we lived close to Silver Spring we would be here all the time. Now we will have to wait until we come visit again - but there is no other place we will go to - It was absolutely delicious and the wait staff was incredibly friendly and professional.
Had a late dinner here with a couple of friends on Friday evening. Because I brought my dog, we braved the rain and sat on the patio. I did not realize the patio was closed, but the hostess and waiter were very nice and accommodating. The buffalo cauliflower and braised short ribs were absolutely delicious, and the patio is wonderful for dog owners. I will definitely be back.
I was there on a very hot day. The front wall was completely open even though the air conditioning was on. This is against the law in Washington. I don't know if it is in Montgomery County or in Silver Spring. But common sense requires that you simply don't waste electricity that way nor overload the a.c. unit. It did not work well near the front of the restaurant, of course !!!
My go to place when people want to get together. Great food choices that often change as chef gets creative. I don't live near the restaurant but know the neighborhood very well from years of working at the school across the street before it even opened. What a great addition to the neighborhood.
Service was perfect. I was expecting a leisurely meal and food was delivered more quickly than I expected. However, in no way were we rushed. Salmon and rock fish were prepared to perfection. Boy choy under fish and as side dish was mushy as opposed to gently prepared. Nice for casual dining.
Our service was unusually slow considering the restaurant was not nearly at full capacity for a Friday night. My wife ordered a salmon dish that she originally thought had a basil pesto sauce. We were told that the sauce shown was from the day before, and the current day's sauce was caper lemon butter sauce. She was generally OK with it. When the food came out, it had the basil pesto sauce, and this sauce did not at all go well with the fennel. She also asked for the fish well done and it was barely cooked medium.
Went to the Daily Dish for Mother's Day with my daughter-in-law, whose birthday was the next day. Glad I made a reservation. By 10:30 am there was already a line. Food was good. Wait staff was very warm. Too bad I didn't think to ask for an outdoor table. Restaurant is in a small strip mall in a neighborhood. So, it has a homey neighborhood feeling to it. It was the second time I'd been there for brunch. I'll go again - maybe for lunch the next time.
We love the Daily Dish for brunch and an occasional family dinner. It is comfortable and unpretentious. We have a favorite waiter who provides the perfect balance of service and friendliness. The food is creative (but not wacky) and locally sourced with seasonal offerings. My favorite brunch dish is poached eggs on greens with asparagus and a citrus vinegarette. Yum. I had my birthday dinner there this year and it was perfect!
Met a friend for lunch and had heard great things from friends about the food and the casual vibe. They were right - food is excellent, service was attentive but not overly so, and the environment is perfect for conversation and catching up. I will be back for lunch and want to try it for dinner.
The waiter was very friendly and took care of our needs quickly. We were a group of five and all visiting for the first time; 3 locals and 2 out-of-Townes. I would go again, if in the area. The food was fantastic! Well seasoned, cooked perfectly and arrived at our table hot. The short ribs and roast chicken were delicious. I had only one compliment which was quickly resolved by our waiter but bares mentioning. When the bill arrived it included a charge of $0.25 per person to have honey with our tea. I was astounded! I travel all over the world and having visited more than 40 countries I've never been charged to get honey with my tea. Ownership should reconsider the necessity of such a fee; not in good interest to tea drinkers.
The menu at The Daily Dish looked great although a the dishes were a bit pricey. This is normally fine if the food is great, but when our food came we were disappointed. The seafood portions were small and medium quality. The pesto was surprisingly bland, and I could detect no garlic or cheese. The mushroom risotto was also bland with no seasoning other than salt, and just a trace of mushroom slivers. The vegetables were limp and soaked in butter. The experience wasn't terrible but I cannot foresee another visit. The Daily Dish - please check your recipes!
