The Daily Catch Seaport Ratings and Reviews
I used to go to the original Daily Catch on Hanover Street years ago but it's always so hard to get into that small place, and then the one across from Jimmy's until the redevelopment of that area. Food was always special if you love Italian style seafood - including their special dishes, Lobster Fra Diavolo which is loaded with different seafood and a flavor fest, Monk Fish marsala, which, if you've not had Monk fish or even if you have like me, this dish is a killer! I prefer their "served in the pan" dishes- any of them! The sauce is dead on, chowders really flavorful. Can't miss here. I was so psyched that the food was as good as when I used to visit. I'll be back soon. Keep it up guys and please don't change..............
The food was pretty good, but not really hot. The service was not very good at all. I specifically told the waitress I need to eat gluten free (as my reservation indicated) but she still brought the appetizer with bread on it. She was slow to get orders and she did not check back much at all. This is a casual restaurant with prices a little upwards of that. I chose it because they are recommended for their mussels, which were average.
The food is reasonably good at this Daily Catch location. The ambiance doesn't live up to the charm of the other locations. The main course came out two secs after we received our salad so we had to send it back. Also, the server wanted to clear the salad while we were still chewing!
6 of us went for a guys night out. The food and the service was exceptional. Tried black pasta with scallops for the first time and it was amazing. The meal was served in the pan it was cooked it. Of the six we had 5 different entrees and everyone enjoyed theirs. The Sicilian Fish Stew is off the charts good! First time there, we all will be back.
Always a good meal at the Daily Catch. We've been going since the 80's . The food was delicious as always. My husband and I shared the Fra Diavolo with black ink pasta. The server was friendly, humorous and attentive. Kudos to her. I will look forward to returning.
I've tried the black ink pasta in the north end location and it was delicious. Ordered the same thing in the Seaport location and was disappointed. It has really bitter taste and the flavor just wasn't the same.
As for service, our server didn't check on us until we were about done eating. There was only 1 other table in the restaurant so not sure why we weren't checked on shortly after the food was served.
Overall- disappointed and would go back to the north end location instead.
There were a lot of family and visitors at the restaurant when we went because it was around the Christmas holidays. Waiter was friendly. Oysters were great, pasta was really good! When I asked for spicey, they really made it super spicey! Ambiance was alrightm I think it would be a lot nicer in the summer when you can actually sit outdoors.
We have tried many seafood restaurants in Boston but this is absolutely the best in terms of quality and value. The owners have their own fleet of fishing vessels and provide daily freshly caught seafood. The Seaport location is wonderful, with outside waterfront dining. A party of four, we dined on Dec. 27 and my wife and I ordered the LOBSTER FRA DIAVOLO for two which had very generous portions of shellfish, calamari, squid and lobster. It was served over spaghetti prepared al dente and a very delicious "spicy” seafood (with ground calamari) tomato sauce. The consistency and flavor of the spaghetti was the best I have ever eaten. Shane, our bartender and server, was fantastic. He was very attentive and responsive throughout the entire evening and made our dining experience a complete satisfaction.
Booked The Daily Catch for my birthday dinner while in town for a conference my husband and his colleagues were attending. Our server was fantastic - very attentive and provided great suggestions. All the food was very fresh and tasty. I would definitely recommend this to someone who was trying to find good seafood without breaking the bank.
Had a nice birthday dinner with my family here. The seafood selection and quality was good but did not blow me away like some other Boston seafood spots (e.g., Island Creek), but I was glad to see local fish offered. I appreciated the variety of Sicilian wines to pair with food. Our server was nice but seemed fairly inexperienced.
We have been here several times over the summer but this was a rare treat in mid October to be able to eat outside. We met friends visiting from Colorado and wanted to share the waterfront.
We felt the food wasn’t as fresh this time as in the past and a bit more greasy.
Hope it was an exception.
It was my first time dining with the Daily Catch the other day for lunch. Prior to that, most of my experience with the restaurant has been enjoying the outdoor bar during the summertime. Suffice to say that the dining experience isn't this restaurants forte. The indoor seating arrangement is limited, however, that wasn't an issue because the restaurant was empty for lunch. That said, due to the lack of patrons, the service was atrocious. Our waiter didn't hand us menus or silverware upon being seated. Rather, he disappeared for about 10 minutes into the kitchen area. We ended up getting our own menus and silverware, and I flagged him down afterwards to place our order.
As for the food, it was mediocre at best. I had a salad and added grilled shrimp (approximately two shrimp). Overall, I wasn't impressed with my meal or the service. From now on, I'm just going to stick to drinking at their outdoor bar.
Amazing food and great service. Went their with my husband and high school kids and picked up our oldest recent college graduate living in Southie. Great last minute dinner idea and everyone had something they loved (and some of my kids dont eat seafood). Loved it
Good came out over a period of 40 minutes. Side dishes had to be requested multiple times....last one came out about the same time as the bill.
Food was delicious and the waterfront dining is beautiful.
Just a shame we couldn't actually have our dinner together and won't be coming back.
We went there for a water view
We were seated shoved into a table next to a wall
We had no view
It was so hard to see the menu so we had to use our phone lights to see the menu
Server was slow , forgot our water , forgot my drink
Our table had no salt pepper etc
Waiter brought us a double salad thT we did not order
Meals were good
My drink was terrible
You can't get just a plain martini they have "special" ones
No spoon for the pasta had to ask for cheese
Waiter needs more training in people skills
And serving training
We had a great outdoor seat facing the harbor and city. The food was delicious. I had the broiled swordfish and my husband had the monk marsala with black pasta. He loved it and I had a taste and it was very good. My only complaint was that our waitress put our dinner order in too fast and our food and bottle of wine were delivered while we were still sipping our cocktails.
Restaurant got great write up but was nothing special. The reservation was honored and we walked right in. Food was nothing special, $8 garlic bread was tasteless and took 20 minutes to be delivered.
Lobster fra Diablo was not spicy at all
In all it was disappointing
