The Daily Catch Seaport Ratings and Reviews
The only thing that made this experience okay was our great waiter and water view otherwise the food was not edible. Our swordfish was completely raw as if it was ahi tuna. The scallops I ordered came with mix vegetables which consisted of sautéed peppers, onions and squash but the side veggies were a small portion and over cooked /used from the night earlier and our mussels app was terrible and the mussels were all closed and under cooked. Save yourself the money and don't eat here
This was our first time at this restaurant. We had a lovely water view that made the whole evening special. The grilled fish was terrific - perfectly well done. If you'd like a quieter experience, ask to be seated near the outside edges of the outdoor dining area.
The food and service were absolutely terrible. I'm so disappointed that the evening was a such a disaster. I had been here once before, and it was a fine experience, but this was absolutely outrageous. The kitchen overcooked/ruined calimari, steak, and even managed to screw up the pasta dish we ordered. How do you even do that? Pasta is absurdly simple, but thus was mushy and still swimming in water (not sauce or oil, thus was water) at the bottom of the pan. The service was so slow/absentee that our plates were cold and congealed by the time our waitress brought them out, but we were so hungry, we picked through and ate what we could out of fear for having to sit there another hour. We had arrived while the place was pretty empty, and while we waited, every table around us was seated, given an appetizer, and we're working on their main dishes before our food ever arrived. They forgot to put silverware and bread at our table, so we went and got some ourselves. Even the coffees we ordered for dessert had cooled off by the time they were finally brought to our table. There were plenty of waitstaff around the place, but they were mostly loitering by the hostess's stand or inside, by the kitchen and hidden from the outdoor customets. What an embarrassing farce this whole situation was. The Daily Catch should be ashamed of the complete incompetence of its kitchen and waitstaff.
Half full restaurant yet horrible service. Drinks took forever, waiter had to be asked to bring water and bread. Didn't refill drinks. Caprese salad was tasteless and this is the hight of tomato season. Won't bother returning. Although the outdoor seating and view were nice.
Everything was fabulous! They gave us the best table in the whole restaurant (plus it's all outdoor seating) and our server Chris was great! I got shrimp which was to die for and my dad almost got ANOTHER plate of the swordfish it was so good! Vacationing in Boston and it was our best meal of the whole trip.
We had an amazing meal while celebrating my boyfriend's birthday. The fried calamari appetizer, Aglio Olio, and the Vongole Neapolitan and drinks were all outstanding. The outdoor seating had beautiful views of the harbor. The perfect spot to celebrate a birthday with a nice meal!
Excellent food. Best in a long time. Glad to be able to make a reservation.
Only issue : noise level is high. A celebration next to us was loud, open air seating may need additional privacy/volume barriers , or some sails hanging from the "ceiling".
Despite that we had a great time, beautiful harbor walk after dinner.
A summer treat for sure.
Great food, great location. The only problem was they rush you out of the place.
I sat down for an early dinner. I wasn't barely done with my appetizer and my main course arrived. They also forgot to serve my bread basket. They took forever to deliver my check and pick it up.
I'll say it's a training issue with the staff, however when your spending $$$$, you want to be able to relax.
Terrible meal; we asked to be moved because sun was directly in our eyes, and even though it was not crowded they were not very helpful. We actually moved ourselves to an available table.
Do not recommend the clam chowder or stuffed calamari which was great in the past. The only pleasant part was the seasonal drinks.
Only complaint is that parking is VERY challenging - therefore very expensive.
With very few on street spots in area, I had to park in a garage that charged $36 for no more than 2.5 hrs.
Other restaurants in the area all have valet parking and this one should do the same.
Nobody was eating inside the restaurant on this summer evening. Everyone was outside, which boasts a beautiful view of the water and the settting sun. Our black pasta entrees were fantastic and the scallops were perfectly prepared. No place I'd rather be on a summer's night!
First time at this particular location of the Daily Catch but so glad we visited. Great location, right on the water but well-protected from rain. Wonderful view and the food was excellent as was the wine list. Finally, the staff was pleasant, informative and prompt with serving our orders. Great experience!
We brought out of town friends here for great seafood and view. We all had Lobster fra Diavlo which was excellent. It is nice to watch boat activity on water while dining. Cocktails were delicious. The one downside was the staff. Hostess rolled her eyes when we asked to be seated at table with better view instead of near brick pillar. Waitress never checked in on us throughout the meal and was very slow to bring items when we were able to get her attention.
Beautiful location but terrible service. Foodjust ok. Should be a more professional operation for the price point. I ordered the black pasta puttanesca which was heavily salted. Our waiter was totally disinterested. Too many other great options in Boston. Don't waste your time or money here!!
We dined outside for the harbor view. Our server was friendly and helpful. We ordered the seafood soup and calamari for apps- soup was delicious we were a little disappointed with the calamari- it was greasy and the breading was sweet. For our entrees we had the black pasta with scallops and linguine/clams in white wine. Both dishes were delicious.
The calamari appetizer was good, great service, and nice outdoor seating area. The main course, broiled shrimp and scallops were ok. The food came out a little fast, like it was already made. I don't think the locals come here and we will probably try something else if we return to Boston.
really enjoyed this place! food was on point, waitress was super nice, she even had the chef do a special request for us that wasn't on the menu, thx!! too bad I was on what would be our final date, at least for the time being. had nothing to do with the place, which was awesome i must stress.
Very disappointed in this restaurant. Inattentive service (we had to prompt to get anything including the salad one of us ordered; never did get water refills), very distracting clanging and banging coming from the kitchen, and overseasoned, overcooked and unimaginative food. Gave 2 stars for outdoor seating option but couldn't imagine giving 2 in any other category. So many good choices in Boston - don't bother with this one.
Food and ambience were great, but wait staff was a little rude and hurried, especially when orders went wrong- four people at the table yet six entrees were brought out and they handed us all of the entrees (one of which was on a hot plate with no warning that looked partially eaten) and then they picked up them of the entrees and brought them elsewhere. After bringing this to someone's attention we were told they would never do that (excuse me, you just did.) and then our waitress essentially ignored us the rest of the night except to throw desert menu on the table.. would go back for the food and ambience but would hope for different waitress .
Beautiful setting, unique, delicious food, great service. All of these describe the seaport branch of the wonderful old-school restaurant in the North End..."The Daily Catch." That restaurant has become virtually impossible to get in, because of its 20 seats, and no reservations policy. So it was good news to all the fans of the restaurant when they opened this huge branch of the Sicilian seafood and pasta place. I say "huge," because it holds 100 diners indoors, and 300 more on the patio deck, overlooking the harbor with its boats coming and going. We followed the smell of garlic, which led right to our table right on the water! The menu is extensive, filled with lots of dishes prepared Sicilian style, and lots of calamari plates...their specialty. From all of these, I chose the Homemade Black Linguine (Tinta di Calamari...Squid Ink,) Puttanesca, with Onions, Mushrooms, Bell Peppers, Olives, Anchovies and Butter Sauce. It was absolutely delicious! Our wine was a Sicilian red, "Il Moro." Excellen
Absolutely horrible experience. Waited over 45 minutes without being served a water. Alerted hostess we hadn't been attended to, waited another 5 and then left. Left an email about our experience and still haven't heard back.
They also haven't updated their menu in years.
The food was great but the service from the time we arrived to the time we left was not good. Except for one man who delivered our food and went beyond his job duties to correct some issues, no one really acknowledged us from the hostess on. They ran out of bread at 8:30, the tables were rocky and the bathrooms were dirty and being used as public bathrooms as well. We live nearby so this was not a "tourist meal in Boston" so we were not impressed. But since the food was very good, maybe visitors could overlook the rest of the items. The view is spectacular but if you don't need the view, there are plenty of other options out there.
I would have given this place 5 stars if the service was up to par. Upon arrive I was told my tablets being cleaned off and would be ready in 10 minutes and could gonhave a drink at the bar in the meantime. While at the bar it took forever to be served, the bartender didn't even acknowledge us or the fact that we ere waiting so long. At 8:00 I go and check in with the hostess and I'm told once again my table is being cleaned off and should be available shortly but I saw them seat a party of two with no reservation that came the same time as we did. The service during dinner wasnjust as disorganized. It took forever to get drinks and have our order taken.
