The Cup Cafe Ratings and Reviews
This was our first visit to the Cup Café and we'll definitely return. The vintage hotel ambiance is lively and funky. Our dinners were both very good as was the service. There were a number of other menu items that looked interesting. Great place to meet friends or bring guests!
Good place. Fast attentive service. I miss the duck taco appetizer but squid appetizer was done correctly. 2 Good burger were cooked to temperature. Really good ribeye special. The thai hot soup was not real Thai hot, but better thai places around. Good coffee. For reliably good Americana cuisine, you can't go wrong with The Cup.
Great food, location, and best of all great service!!! Good gluten free options. The wait staff doesn’t look at you sideways when you ask for a low sugar rum cocktail - just delivers w/ classic straight up daiquiri. Good GF tacos and excellent food overall. Outdoor dining. We liked it. Quality food.
I have eaten here for many years and for all different meals of the day. It never disappoints! The atmosphere is very cool; especially the penny floor! Great historical significance of the accompanying hotel and the patio is awesome! The food is always well prepared and the portions are good! I have worked my way through most dishes, over the years and they are all delicious! The desserts are amazing and made on site! While the service isn’t slow, it is not fast either. This is not at all a drawback, as you should take your time when dining here. Enjoy an appetizer, then a salad and a main course and finish with dessert! Take in the eclectic and historical space! The staff is fantastic! They are well versed on the menu, daily specials and the huge wine and alcohol selections! A true Tucson gem!
Great food, great service. The calamari appetizer was incredible, mr burger was a perfect medium rare, and the seafood stew wonderful and not over cooked. Great server who got us out in time for our play. We had a wrong entree delivered, which they quickly corrected and even comped us a dessert. Now that’s service!
Have been on the fence with this restaurant for over two (2) years now because the service has been so erratic and “hit or miss.” Not any more as long as Holly and Matthew work there. Holly was and is among the best servers I have ever seen at “Cup Cafe” or any restaurant for that matter. Phenomenal job. Present when you need her and skillfully absent when you don’t. She seems to have this server’s intuition about her which will serves her exceptionally well. The same can be said of Matthew who works the earlier shift as a breakfast/brunch/lunch server. He is “the Bomb.”
The food the night the four (4) of us ate there was incredibly good, too. I had the NY strip with mushrooms and red wine reduction sauce. Fine cut of beef with an exceptionally well done sauce.
Go for it!
Had planned to meet friends for dinner for a birthday celebration, didn't realize there was a benefit going on and it was brutally noisy and really disrupted our meal. I wish we had known when we made reservations that there was an event going on, our heads were ringing by the time we got home. but our waitress was incredible and made up for it with her great service. The food was incredible the bacon crusted steak special they had was one of the better steaks I've ever had.
Tasty food in a fun and historic setting inside the Hotel Congress. Ordered a Mai Tai...not sure what I got - definitely not like any Mai Tai I'd had before - but still a tasty concoction and reasonably priced. Friendly and attentive staff. Small bathroom. A delightful experience overall and I'd definitely return!
This was our first time but it won’t be our last. Service was great, server was very attentive and the food was amazing, servings were generous. We sat outdoors and enjoyed the live music. I ordered a margarita (had originally ordered a Mojito but the bartender was unable to make it) which I almost sent back but decided against it. There was no salted rim, it was served in a tall glass vs a margarita glass, not blended and tasted blah. My suggestion: Go for the food and live music, avoid the bar.
Great happy hour and awesome fish/chips! Just a couple of things could have made the night a little better however. Our dinner arrived, our wine was gone and so was our server. The disappearance coincided with the last 15 min of happy hour, perhaps a coincidence, the restaurant was not busy so it was a tad annoying. The music was very loud and made any conversation difficult. We love the Cup and outdoor dining this time of year is outstanding.
We have eaten here before for breakfast, lunch, and dinner and the food was good-nothing special but fine. I think there may be a new chef there now as both my husband's meal and mine were poor. He had the salmon. I don't eat fish so can't comment on that, but he was not overjoyed. I had the beef bourguignon which tasted like a bad, tasteless beef stew with no vegetables. The portions were very small for the cost, but in the case of the beef dish, just as well! Won't be going back.
