Wonderful! My salad and entree were delicious and the kahlua mousse cake to die for!
The Cup Cafe is a great spot for a meat & a cocktail or two before a show at the Railto Theater, just across the street. The cocktails are imaginative, tasty and reasonable priced. The Rancho Notorius , on their hand-crafted cocktail menu, with a Vida mezcal base was like an infusion of the Southwest. The Heartbreaker was a great sampler to get things started and we chose to the chicken & gnocchi and Scottish salmon as our entreées - delicious!
I brought my sister, who had never visited Tucson, to one of my favorite restaurants, Cup Cafe, and nobody was disappointed! She had the Nicoise Salad and loved it. My husband and I both had the special...crawfish, clams, shrimp and cheese and spinach ravioli with an excellent, spicy blackened garlic sauce. Delicious!!! So good, in fact, that my sister had some of mine too. Service was great as usual and the "street cafe" ambiance outdoors is just cool!
We had wonderful food and EXCELLENT service from Celeste.
Skip the beef bourginon. Tough, boiled beef. lackluster flavor. Also Thai Seafood Stew was disappointing. Couldn't tell it was a Thai stew. Dishes on other tables looked good!
Great food and very good service. It was busy the evening we were there, but our servers never rushed us.
Best in Tucson. Great desserts! Excellent meals. Very pleasant service
Great wine, great food and great service.
The Thai fisherman’s stew was delicious (pictured). Service was excellent, our server, Taylor, did a fabulous job with recommendations, timeliness, and her friendly manner.
We had a table by a door to the outside patio on an unseasonably cool Tucson night. There was frequent traffic through the door and to tell you the try the, I almost asked for a table change, but heck, we’re from Montana. I think eating out on the patio would be great on other, more seasonably normal evenings. Mornings, too, outside would be great as their breakfast menu is amazing.
We came back for Sunday breakfast, around 0830, and waited 15 min to be seated. After 0900, expect a longer wait, but be prepared to enjoy some great food.
I have been trying to dine at the Cup Cafe over the past four years, when I would come to visit my daughter at school. It's always been packed. I planned ahead this time and made a reservation. Great cocktails and wine list. Food was delicious, fun menu!
Old favorite. Always delightful.
We had one night in Tucson on our x country trip. The Cup Cafe was recommended by a friend. It was definitely worth the trip. The Happy Hour lasts till 7! We had appetizers rather than a meal all were delicious. I highly recommend the chorizo filled dates rolled in bacon. The salad was also good. We did take a slice of key lime pie back to the hotel. It was big enough to share and a perfect balance of tart to sweet.
Top notch! Great happy hour! Food is outstanding! We are going back!
I adore the Cup Cafe and enjoyed a lovely meal there before a concert across the street at the Rialto. I love all of the locally-sourced menu items (we always get Barrio bread as a starter) and the thoughtfully-curated wine and beer lists, not to mention the amazing craft cocktails. On this particular visit, my partner ordered the ribeye special, which was melt-in-your-mouth delicious. I ordered my favorite dish, the Depot Salad. (The cherry tomatoes were especially crisp, flavorful, and satisfying to eat!)
As always, the service was prompt, attentive, and professional, in spite of the fact that it was clearly a busy evening. The only drawback was the grouchy couple seated at the table next to us who couldn't seem to find a single thing to like about their meal -- but that's not the Cup Cafe's fault! Some people just love to be critical. (I noticed that even though the woman loudly pronounced their food as "just ok" to their server, they'd still somehow managed to eat every bite. Passive-aggressive much?)
As for me and my partner, we're looking forward to many more wonderful meals at the Cup Cafe!
We started the evening being seated inside, but it was so loud we could not have a
conversation. The table outside was much better, but smoking is allowed on the
patio, and that was not comfortable.
The food was fantastic! Artichoke bisque, seared tuna. My husband had the Thai fish
stew, cooked to perfection. We will be back with visitors next month. We love being
able to dine outside, so will ask to be seated away from smokers.
The Cup Cafe inside the Hotel Congress has delicious food and great service. In particular, I was particularly grateful to the staff who held our table. We were flying into Tucson from Los Angeles and our flight was delayed and I contacted them to let them know we would be an hour late and they made a concerted effort to hold our table which I really appreciate. The service was attentive and the food and drinks were interesting and delicious. There is a fun and active bar scene in the hotel which caters to every desire and whim. I really like this place.
Busy spot. Served a really tasty skinny margarita. Fish tacos were above average. Soup and salad were just average. Table settings are tight.
Delightful outdoor dining with delicious food & great service—
Fun historical place to enjoy in downtown Tucson. It has a wonderful history and great food
When I made the reservation, I said it was a birthday celebration. Even when someone phoned an hour before our reservation time, they were asking about the birthday celebration and I said it was our Daughter's birthday the next day. Nothing happened to recognize the occasion so I went to the girls at the desk and asked about what was supposed to happen. I might as well have been talking to the wall. They didn't know and told me to ask my server. Well we had already paid the bill so I told them to forget about it. My meal was really good but my daughter's and husband's were only fair. Would like to have sat outside but didn't know that there was seating outside so would have been helpful if that would have been a question when I was making the reservation. We did go back for breakfast the next morning. A better experience and we didn't mention it was the actual day for the birthday. Who wants to eat cake @ 9 in the morning?
Loved it! Great food and fun atmosphere.
Service was spot on!
The Cup Café is my go-to restaurant for out-of-town guests. It provides the atmosphere of Old Tucson with delicious food. This visit did not disappoint. My guests were very pleased with the steelhead special, the Southwest salad, the mesquite smoked ribs and the fish and chips. Everybody looked smug and happy, convinced they had ordered the very best thing. Service was friendly and helpful. Great local craft beers on draft!
Excellent food and ambience. A jewel in Tucson. Reasonable prices and good service. Live entertainment on the weekends. I recommend.
Had to make it to a concert but unfortunately, we did not get our food in time to eat (one hour).
We've always enjoyed Cup. Whether it's breakfast or dinner, the food is creative, tasty, and served with skill. We often recommend this place because it is hip and friendly, offering great fare for diners of all ages. On days when the Hot Club of Tucson is playing, there is nowhere in Arizona I'd rather be. We also admire the relationship between local farms and the kitchen. Great place!
Great evening. We’ll be back.
Cup Cafe is a great place to relax with friends during our annual visit to the Gem shows. Service was exceptionally good! The only minor criticism was that right at the end of the meal, a DJ started blasting loud music which destroyed our ability to converse. We'll check this out next year so we can avoid similar events.
We sat outside. Great atmosphere and food. The waitress was super friendly and patient answering all our questions. Our food was delicious and we would definitely go again.
The food was delicious. But unfortunately, the service started out great then became very slow - to the point of seeming to have forgotten about our table of 6. We saw our dinners come out and start to go to the wrong table, then watched them return to the kitchen for a few minutes before arriving at our table.
As usual, The Cup provided an outstanding dining experience. We like to go there for an early dinner after a play at The Arizona Theatre Company. Our outdoor dinner was 5-star in all categories.
The cup cafe food and drink did not disappoint. We each ordered something different and we quite pleased with our selections. The staff were friendly and attended to our needs right up until we were served our food. Then they forgot about us. Our water was not refilled and we never got the dressing we asked for. The inside was loud and it was difficult to hear each other. We will give it another chance and try eating outside next time and request a pitcher of water.
This was our first visit to the Cup Café and we'll definitely return. The vintage hotel ambiance is lively and funky. Our dinners were both very good as was the service. There were a number of other menu items that looked interesting. Great place to meet friends or bring guests!
Good place. Fast attentive service. I miss the duck taco appetizer but squid appetizer was done correctly. 2 Good burger were cooked to temperature. Really good ribeye special. The thai hot soup was not real Thai hot, but better thai places around. Good coffee. For reliably good Americana cuisine, you can't go wrong with The Cup.
Great food, location, and best of all great service!!! Good gluten free options. The wait staff doesn’t look at you sideways when you ask for a low sugar rum cocktail - just delivers w/ classic straight up daiquiri. Good GF tacos and excellent food overall. Outdoor dining. We liked it. Quality food.
Our waitress was fantastic!
Great food & service. Not fancy but worth the experience if you are in downtown Tucson. We had pretzel encrusted pork and split it and a salad. Excellent!
Unpretentious, friendly, cozy, good atmosphere, good happy hour menu, great drinks, great service, in a historic hotel so fun to look at the old things and learn about local history. Will definitely go back.
Nice atmosphere and the food is consistently good. The downtown area is fun to walk around before and after dinner.
Historical hotel with a cool restaurant. Very retro with a lobby area decorated with quite a few telephone type relics. Food was great! Service was great! Definitely worth stopping in.
Food was decent but the hotel is more about ambience:maybe the coolest place in downtown Tucson-yeah not that big of a challenge, but really the place has a vibe and genuine-ness that doesn't come that easily here.
