Amazing flavorful vegan options and the staff is always so friendly
After all the check marks I made for recommendations, anything else would be redundant. Seriously, Cups is central to Downtown Tucson. It has it all, great food, service and ambiance. We're locals and will definitely be back.
We always go and just have breakfast there this is the first time we had dinner and it is very very good I had the Scottish salmon my son had the burger my wife had the Ahi tuna salad and my daughter the carne asada nachos and we all loved everything we ordered very good service we will be back for sure for dinner
Great food and ambience, especially to bring out of town visitors. Love the Depot Salad.
We were a party of two couples. Everyone loved the food-both appetizers and dinner. Wonderful service from Lauren-may have been our best service EVER. Good drinks. Noise level was excessive by 8pm. Not a quiet place for a romantic date. Tables are close together. This place is definitely in our top 5 favorites in Tucson.
We had:
Pork schnitzel
Ribs with Mac and cheese
Salmon and rice
Chicken with gnocchi
We loved them all and look forward to returning soon.
I’ve been coming to the Cup for years. The current menu is the least interesting ever. Happy hour is for drinks not food which was disappointing also. The staff were friendly and accommodating, per usual, which was nice to see hadn’t changed. We were not able to get the dessert we wanted, which was Banana Cream Pie. It has been a favorite for years but the last few years it’s never available. Every time they say “We have Coconut Creme”..like they are similar?? They are not. I assume they have lost the baker who years ago made their fabulous Banana Cream Pie. I will certainly go back to the Cup in anticipation that perhaps the menu will be more interesting next time..like it has been in the past. And the Happy Hour menu will be more fun than a $9 hamburger, or bread with pesto and / or oil with a bit of vinegar that had no flavor. Please do better..you are an old favorite place to eat, and I would like to continue having great meals down there.
Cup Cafe is located in the Hotel Congress, which is almost a century old & could probably use an update & renovation, though it is quaint; and worth a visit just to look around. Though many tables & servers were available when we arrived, we were told by the hostess that we needed to wait to be seated & directed to the bar. We had planned to order drinks in any case so we didn't mind that, but it seemed a bit obvious that it was just an effort to get us to patronize the bar. We started with some barrio bread, which was very good but ought to be served as a normal bread service with every meal rather than as an appetizer one needs to purchase. My wife's beef dish was very good as was my pesto pasta with chicken (though very rich & filling). Portions are generous though that meant we were too full to try a dessert (which looked appealing). The service was excellent. There is outdoor seating & many options on the menu. It is worth a try.
Usually love this place, but the hotel had an event going on outside the restaurant. It was so loud and intrusive is spoiled a nice dinner. The waitress got our order wrong (probably couldn't hear right).
Always great. Be sure to try the Ghost Orchid cocktail. And the fish tacos are delicious.
It was a wonderful first visit and I plan to return again and again.
A little too noisy outdoors for conversation (musicians' volume seems to demand attention or drown out talking rather than being comfortably quiet in the background to enable conversation)
I asked for an outside table, but was told that it would be 30 minute wait despite the fact that there were multiple open tables outside. We were seated inside and noticed that the same outside tables remained open the entire time that we dined inside. They will not seat two people at a four top table and would prefer to leave it open instead of accommodating the guests wishes. The receptionist was rather rude. Food was good
A favorite since I moved to Tucson in '96. The cocktail menu is terrific. I tried the handsome Harry and then I tried three. From the phone to the table, everyone was friendly and professional. Food is great. Lots of happy diners. I love the Cup.
Four of us had an early evening easter dinner at Yhe Cup. It was an excellent experience. We booked a table on the patio. The food wine and service were very good. We were having such a good time, the waitress had to tell us after 3.5 hours that our table was needed for another reservation. Good thing. We might still be there. We’ll definitely be back.
Great we had a wonderful time
Upbeat and fun. Food was good with nice selection of beer.
Good food - great service! Fine Malbec offered! Where to buy in Tucson?! "Surry"/hostess was very accommodating! Rating s/b be 4.5!
I had such high expectations since all I heard about this place was great. we were seated in kind of end of a booth so thankfully both of us, on that side of the table, were small enough to fit; Personally, I like have a little space around me..... Also, it was very noisy and I thought no ambiance . We started with the fries - that were wonderful!!! I split a salad (some of tomatoes not ripe so too firm) and the ribs with my friend. They were ok, nothing to write home about, and not very meaty. The mac and cheese though was too die for ! Another person got their soup of the day and he said it was ok - but kind of flavorless, lacking spices. He ordered fish tacos which were very good (and that seemed to be a good deal) We did get a desert - one of the "lighter" ones - which was quite good. Oh - the bread is from a local baker and is wonderful - you pay extra for this. I expected that everything would be wonderful so was disappointed with many things being mediocre .
Staff is very friendly. Great service. Sorry that they ran out of salmon but food was very good
The menu was varied, food was high quality, presentation was lovely and the service was excellent. Great location in downtown Tucson, steps away from the train station. My breakfast quiche was enough for 2 or 3 servings and the extras on the plate made the meal super!
Unfortunate, the chocolate pudding cup is not the same. There is no dark chocolate at the bottom and the pudding tastes as if it were out of a box.
Great outdoor dining with fantastic foods, amazing desserts, and attentive service, all in a historic and very memorable old hotel atmosphere!
I thought service was off the night we celebrated our 22nd anniversary. Waitress admitted to running a little late but the service was too slow for my tastes. I expect when I spending close to $20 a meal to have service that is prompt. The meals overall were good and the coconut cream pie was to die for.
Our server Taylor went above and beyond to make sure we had a fantastic meal when I came in with my family for my birthday. Cup Cafe never disappoints, highly recommend!
it was a Friday night and was too noisy. food was delicious. will be back but not on a Friday night.
Wonderful! My salad and entree were delicious and the kahlua mousse cake to die for!
The Cup Cafe is a great spot for a meat & a cocktail or two before a show at the Railto Theater, just across the street. The cocktails are imaginative, tasty and reasonable priced. The Rancho Notorius , on their hand-crafted cocktail menu, with a Vida mezcal base was like an infusion of the Southwest. The Heartbreaker was a great sampler to get things started and we chose to the chicken & gnocchi and Scottish salmon as our entreées - delicious!
I brought my sister, who had never visited Tucson, to one of my favorite restaurants, Cup Cafe, and nobody was disappointed! She had the Nicoise Salad and loved it. My husband and I both had the special...crawfish, clams, shrimp and cheese and spinach ravioli with an excellent, spicy blackened garlic sauce. Delicious!!! So good, in fact, that my sister had some of mine too. Service was great as usual and the "street cafe" ambiance outdoors is just cool!
We had wonderful food and EXCELLENT service from Celeste.
Skip the beef bourginon. Tough, boiled beef. lackluster flavor. Also Thai Seafood Stew was disappointing. Couldn't tell it was a Thai stew. Dishes on other tables looked good!
Great food and very good service. It was busy the evening we were there, but our servers never rushed us.
Best in Tucson. Great desserts! Excellent meals. Very pleasant service
Great wine, great food and great service.
The Thai fisherman’s stew was delicious (pictured). Service was excellent, our server, Taylor, did a fabulous job with recommendations, timeliness, and her friendly manner.
We had a table by a door to the outside patio on an unseasonably cool Tucson night. There was frequent traffic through the door and to tell you the try the, I almost asked for a table change, but heck, we’re from Montana. I think eating out on the patio would be great on other, more seasonably normal evenings. Mornings, too, outside would be great as their breakfast menu is amazing.
We came back for Sunday breakfast, around 0830, and waited 15 min to be seated. After 0900, expect a longer wait, but be prepared to enjoy some great food.
I have been trying to dine at the Cup Cafe over the past four years, when I would come to visit my daughter at school. It's always been packed. I planned ahead this time and made a reservation. Great cocktails and wine list. Food was delicious, fun menu!
Old favorite. Always delightful.
We had one night in Tucson on our x country trip. The Cup Cafe was recommended by a friend. It was definitely worth the trip. The Happy Hour lasts till 7! We had appetizers rather than a meal all were delicious. I highly recommend the chorizo filled dates rolled in bacon. The salad was also good. We did take a slice of key lime pie back to the hotel. It was big enough to share and a perfect balance of tart to sweet.
Top notch! Great happy hour! Food is outstanding! We are going back!
I adore the Cup Cafe and enjoyed a lovely meal there before a concert across the street at the Rialto. I love all of the locally-sourced menu items (we always get Barrio bread as a starter) and the thoughtfully-curated wine and beer lists, not to mention the amazing craft cocktails. On this particular visit, my partner ordered the ribeye special, which was melt-in-your-mouth delicious. I ordered my favorite dish, the Depot Salad. (The cherry tomatoes were especially crisp, flavorful, and satisfying to eat!)
As always, the service was prompt, attentive, and professional, in spite of the fact that it was clearly a busy evening. The only drawback was the grouchy couple seated at the table next to us who couldn't seem to find a single thing to like about their meal -- but that's not the Cup Cafe's fault! Some people just love to be critical. (I noticed that even though the woman loudly pronounced their food as "just ok" to their server, they'd still somehow managed to eat every bite. Passive-aggressive much?)
As for me and my partner, we're looking forward to many more wonderful meals at the Cup Cafe!
We started the evening being seated inside, but it was so loud we could not have a
conversation. The table outside was much better, but smoking is allowed on the
patio, and that was not comfortable.
The food was fantastic! Artichoke bisque, seared tuna. My husband had the Thai fish
stew, cooked to perfection. We will be back with visitors next month. We love being
able to dine outside, so will ask to be seated away from smokers.
