The waiter was very polite and well mannered but the rest of our experience was exceptionally poor. I couldn’t eat half of the meat as it had large streaks of gristle running the length of the slices, there was very little veg and of the two carrots served one was burnt. They had no horseradish sauce so we opted for English mustard instead which was given to us in sachets! Our wine was served in tumblers as they had run out of wine glasses!! When the polite waiter asked us if everything was okay with our meal we explained our dissatisfaction and I asked him to show the chef the meat left on my plate, he came back and said yes I’ve shown him! When charging £25 for a roast beef dinner I would expect a much better standard.

Nice pub/restaurant and great friendly staff. Very busy when we visited so meals were a bit slow coming out but staff were very apologetic. Food was OK but not that flavoursome. Menu could do with a bit more explanation of what is included in the description - especially the main meals.

Very slow service from the start. Had to go and find staff to take drinks orders. Then took another 20 minutes to take food orders. Starters took over 40 mins to arrive after this. Food was very average and over priced. Shame as have eaten here before and quality was much better historically.

Very slow service as understaffed. When the food finally arrived it was very disappointing. All was simple fare poorly cooked; shrivelled new potatoes and over cooked and greasy asparagus, dry chicken, overcooked rhubarb crumble. Hugely over priced. The rhubarb crumble that my daughter left after one mouthful was served with a plastic pot of Rodda’s clotted cream! This cost £10! You don’t mind paying these prices if the food is correctly cooked and served within a reasonable time. I would not recommend this restaurant. I think they rely on tourists who won’t complain as they won’t go there again. This restaurant should stick to serving Pizzas. My grandsons ate these.

The Crown was ok. It does seem expensive for what it is. My sandwich had very ordinary sliced white bread, one corner of which was slightly stale! The filling was nice as was the slaw and fries. It just felt like new management from when I had much more enjoyed it in the past. So, ok only.

Over 45 minutes wait for snacks soup was warm nit hot. We have been many time and never had these issues

We love The Crown but this was a poor evening. We booked out table two days beforehand. Ordered starters and pizzas - no worries. Then the waiter told us the kitchen was busy they wouldn't be starting to cook pizzas for 45mins. We said that was OK. Then the waiter came back and said they couldn't do my order of Padron Peppers so I had to order a different starter. They arrived and my wife was given the wrong starter. Given the wait she just ate it - but it was totally overloaded with garlic. Then the waiter told me they were starting pizzas but couldn't do my order of Pizza Bianca and I had to order something else. The Pizzas arrived (two different kinds) and they were horrible. Pizza isn't that difficult! Limp cold base, hardly any topping, no tomatoe, and some sort of stone-cold shop-bought ultra-sweet sauce squeezed all over. Almost like sweet raspberry. They were horrible. Bill was over £80. Waiter did his best - he was nice. We've always loved The Crown's ambience and I don't like to moan but this was really terrible.

Everything fairly awful and too expensive. The absolute low was one of the staff deciding to clean all the kids chairs with foul smelling chemicals in front of 3/4 tables. Why during Sunday lunch?

We visited crown on 27/12. I always have a good experience here. Today no exception. The only thing was this time due to season they were very busy so took a bit longer for food to arrive but worth the wait. Staff very polite and apologetic. Good atmosphere. Pineapple and carrot cake a must
