The Crown Inn

Absolute disaster. Pre booked but were put on our own at the back of the pub in a brightly lit room, completely by ourselves. Ordered food at 6.50pm, having been told that they couldn’t show us a children’s menu as they were all in use. At 7.30pm we asked where our food order was. We were told it would be about 30 mins at least. That would have been a 1hr and 10 minute wait. We had 3 starving children. Not even the humous or pitta bread made it to the table. We were not warned about the delay. We had to find out for ourselves. Why not explain earlier so people can decide what to do and why was the bar menu order not at least served? An offer of bread maybe? We got up and left. Terrible. Won’t be going back!
Lovely roast dinner ...was a little disappointed to be charged extra for pigs in blankets ..and was only served one !
Waitresses were very attentive and friendly
A little noisy on our visit due to being sat between two families with young children ...not the end of the world but did disrupt our conversation
Speedy service
Overall I would visit again for Sunday lunch
A very nice old country pub. Food was great service was good. A nice place for a nice meal
This was our second visit, and we enjoyed it just as much as we did previously. The food was delicious ( especially the spicy pumpkin soup). Our waiter ( Connor) was friendly and attentive and very knowledgeable about the menu.
We had a nice Sunday roast at the Crown Inn. The service was friendly but it took a long time to get our food. The food itself was OK. Not bad but also not particularly great.
Lovely place, very friendly and helpful staff and food was very delicious. Certainly will come back.
The Crown is a great country pub, with a good Sunday roast and a broad enough menu to keep everyone happy. We love the children’s menu, the board games we can get out, and the family-friendly environment.
Impressed by this 'small' country gastro pub... A warm welcome from staff on a dismal autumn day... Friendly helpful staff and a tasty Sunday lunch... Lovely surroundings and although busy this did not distract from the friendliest of staff or the quality, presentation of the food...
This is a must go back again place...
Unfortunately The Crown Inn wasn’t serving food from their menu only BBQ, which was really disappointing. They were v apologetic but Open Table should not have taken our booking because this was misleading.
Good for all ages. Children’s food as well as food for grownups. Only criticism is that when there are a lot of people it is very noisy as there is nothing to absorb the sound.
Great Sunday lunch in a lovely Garden. Highly recommend the Yorkshire Puddings!!
We pre-booked and pre-ordered (as we were short on time) a Friday lunch at The Crown for 7 people. When we arrived we were directed to a table set for 6 people, staff added an extra place setting but not an extra chair, so we got one ourselves. 5 minutes later a waitress appeared with menu's, I told her we had pre-ordered and was told that would help the kitchen. Our food turned up 40 minutes later despite the pre-order and the fact there were only 2 other guests in the restaurant when we arrived. The food was lovely, but the service let this visit down.
The menu was disappointing for a special occasion. We had hoped for a choice of fish or seafood dishes. Perhaps this was because it was a Sunday lunchtime and the roasts were very popular. The service was very slow but the price of our starters was deducted from the bill. We will go again but perhaps not for a special occasion.
What a beautiful pub with an amazing beer garden! Lovely food with lots of new things to try. We would highly recommend to anyone!
Wonderful food and fantastic service
Unfortunately the breakfast menu offered did not match the menu on this site in price or offering. The only coffee available was decaff and all in all we felt we had no choice but to leave and seek food elsewhere. Very disappointing and a wasted car journey.
Really lovely, out of the way gastro pub. Front of house staff attentive without being obsequious. But star of the show is the food. Delicious. Clearly the chef cares about what is put out. Some real highlights - goats cheese and pumpkin strudel; fishcake; Sunday roasts - just ask for more veg and gravy, we were told. All beautifully presented and not something I could make at home.
Excellent as always, lovely outside decking area with table service
Don't bother. Customer service is non existent. I took my elderly parents both in their 70s. They had cancelled our booking. Didn't bother to let us know and were unapologetic. In fact to the contrary they were extremely rude to my mother. Who became unwell because of their hostile behaviour.
Give this place a wide berth.
Spoilt our bank holidays plans. Let us down. Even though we had booked.
You cannot rely on the acceptance of your booking. You could be left high and dry.
Service started off poor then recovered. The food was a very pleasant surprise, best roast I’ve had in a pub for ages and a delicious dessert!
This was my first visit to the Crown. At first there was confusion over my booking. Followed by having wet chairs. We both had Sunday roast, the lamb roast was very tough, the roast chicken was burnt as well as most of the veg.
There were quite a few parties and we were sat next to one, which had a few children. However, they were also complaining about most things too. Mediocre pub and I wouldn't return.
Very good service, food and value. Just please put both fires on.
Lovely service and a warm welcome. The food portions are good and the quality and taste is excellent.
Had a lovely brunch on Friday 21/12 and have been many times before Superb

We had a great lunch the food was cooked to perfection.
Appetisers - remarkable. Triple cooked chips - addictive. Main courses - spot on. Overall wonderful place to enjoy a meal with friends or family.
Lovely country pub. Great food. A small mix up with our order, but was quickly resolved.
Sunday lunch for four, with two small children. They were helpful with a high chair and brought the kids meals first so they had less time to wait. Slow roast pork belly Sunday lunch was delicious - really good pork, huge Yorkshire and delicious veg.
The defects I observed here are not due to the inexperience of the staff but rather complete lack of management - where were they during visit ?
Lovely pub in country setting. I had a nice Sunday lunch with my husband, toddler and parents. Service was attentive and excellent. The food was very nice and well priced. There was an excellent kids menu too. The only small points of criticism (and these are small) is that my portion of mussels were on the small side and the food delivered was a bit slow. But all in all very nice. Also had a good pub garden with climbing frame for kids so really recommend this for families. Highly recommended
Great service. Great food. Made a vegan breakfast for me. Excellent staff and would go regularly
I have been in this pub many times over the past few years but never eaten in there since the owners changed. I only ordered pizza but it was fresh, perfectly cooked. Service was great but there was only two tables eating with two servers, so couldn’t have been better! Thanks for a great evening!
We arrived and let the staff behind the bar know we were there as we’d reserved a table. We then waited around 10 minutes before we found someone to ask for a menu , we then had to wait another 10 minutes before we saw a staff member again then they happily moved us to garden as requested and took our order , service was great then but all but three of the tables in the garden and there were slot of tables were filled with dirty glasses and plates and staff didn’t seem bothered they would come out with food orders but not take any glasses back in , I think they’d been busy earlier in day but dirty tables were off putting . However food was good and our son loved the little play area
Nice place, food was good but a bit pricey, so a place for special occasions.
Always fantastic food with attention to detail. Family friendly, fabulous outdoor seating with children play area. Love this place !
Lovely setting, busy Friday night, very slow service but good food if you are prepared to have a very long leisurely evening! Service a bit of a let down. No desserts even offered.
The outside furniture was very dirty, covered in bird poo and cigarette ends were all over the floor. It just needs someone to give the outside furniture a clean especially as the outside bar was open.
A good meal although slightly slow to take our order, bring drinks & then the bill, but it didn't really matter as we were chatting.
Poor service, but food was ok. Numerous problems but nothing compensated on our bill. Awaiting call from management.
Met up with family to celebrate Mothers' Day and it was well worth the drive. The food was very good, especially the roast lamb and roast beef. Service was very welcoming and friendly and the atmosphere was great. The only minor problem was the slightly slow service, but given that it was a very busy service, was understandable.
The Mothers' Day chocolates were much appreciated - thank you!
