Disappointing meal on this occasion after having a number of good meals. Had the premier tasting menu. The arugula salad was over dressed and the baby arugula was tasteless. I had tuna crudo as a second. And that was also tasteless. There were large cuts of tuna with no sauce and hardly any herbs. The tuna had no taste
I had the steelehead trout as a main and that was good. The pineapple cake ordered for dessert was mushy. Maybe just a bad night in the kitchen? We like this place and will try again

Have been going here for 20+ years and was a little disappointed this time. Table location was poor, service slow and one entree not up to their standard. Off night or slipping?

A business meeting with an out of town client meant that I had an opportunity to go to one of my favorite restaurants again. We had a four course tasting menu with paired wines and it was, as always, stunning.

Service was prompt but unobtrustive. Food selections were creative, even playful, and nicely sized. The ambience was warm and quiet. Two and a half hours of business conversation went by in a flash, and we left well satisfied.

I cannot recommend this place highly enough.

As always, the service here is terrific. I ordered stripe bass and was not a fan of the curry butter sauce used as a dressing. Nor was I a fan of the mushroom/onion side. The flavors just didn't work with the bass. It was a special and not a regular menu item. The apple dessert was fantastic!

Lucky enough to get the table for 2 tucked in the corner of the upper level. Once a table of 4 ladies cleared out, it was nice and peaceful. My wife had the premium tasting menu and I the tile fish special. The tasting menu was a good deal at $50 (I ate probably 1/3 of my wife’s), but the tile fish (although perfectly prepared and tasty) was maybe overpriced by $3-4. Anyway, the service was excellent and by and large, the overall experience was top notch.

This place was excellent. Can't believe it took us so long to visit. We will be back. The $35 Classic Tasting menu was everything we liked...soup, crab cake, trout and dessert. If you haven't been to this place yet, you are missing a great meal.

The Crossing has exceptional food. It is a perfect place for a romantic date or a special occasion for a couple. We couldn't have asked for a better place to spend an evening together. Do not go if you want to scrimp on the cost of the meal.

Overall our experience was very good. We had a great server and a nice table with a note from the owner since it was my birthday. My meal was perfect--butternut squash soup, mushroom tagliolini, black Bass, & caramel panna cotta. The bass was flavored so well. One friend was disappointed with the crab cake which she said was mushy & short on crab. Two at our table ordered the poached cod special and felt that it lacked in flavor. My husband ordered the quail and was disappointed to find no breast meat on his plate. I like the tasting menu idea and feel like it's a good value. I hope that our next visit pleases everyone more.

We enjoyed our dinner at The Crossing... we were seated right away at a table up by the bar which was fine for us. Our food was very good- we had 3 separate entrees and 1 tasting menu. The atmosphere and service was decent. We went to celebrate a birthday, and I would recommend it for a special occasion. They also have free valet parking out front which was convenient. Over all an enjoyable evening.

The Crossing has always been a favorite of ours for any type of special occasion, hence a bit of disappointment last Friday evening when we hosted a farewell dinner for friends/colleagues leaving STL. The waiter was rushed and seemed hassled; we waited quite a while just to get a menu. The food wasn’t the usual high level I’ve come to expect there and the place was so full and noisy we had a hard time talking to our friends. A bit surprising.

The Crossing is consistently a top St Louis restaurant. It truly has creative food that always makes the evening special. The menu is varied and ever changing. The quality and presentation are extraordinary. The service is relaxed but truly attentive. The staff who have been at The Crossing a long time make the each meal, there something special. This restaurant continues to get better with age and is to be complemented in it’s consistently winning form!

Our first visit to The Crossing and it won't be our last! We had a wonderful dinner before going to the theater. Started out with the blue cheese appetizer which was delicous. I had a salad (can't remember which one) but it was crisp and fresh and very tasty. My husband had the mushroom soup which he devoured. I ordered red snapper and it was mild and flaky and had the most exquisite saffron sauce that just enhanced the fish perfectly. My husband ordered tuna and he also loved it! We wish we could've stayed longer to try the amazing list of desserts.....next time! Going back next weekend. Our waitress was wonderful and kept things coming in a timely fashion so we wouldn't be late for the show. This place is our new fave!

We tried the 8 course sample menu. I woukd say 3/8 were really tasty, 2 not so great, the rest average. It's difficult to give a definitive review on each because it can vary greatly. Our server was awesome. It definitely added to the experience, just perfect.

The place is very quaint and subtle, but I liked it quite a bit. With the art on the walls, it almost feels like an art gallery, but you can view the work from your table.

The Crossing is our favorite "special" place to go when we are in St Louis. The ambiance and service are superb - friendly, efficient and professional - and there isn't a bad choice on the menu. Just a stellar example of what a great restaurant should be!

It was very good across the board. This place is a hidden gem. Hard to spot from the street, but once you do you will be back. For me it's not a place I would patronize regularly, just due to the price, but that makes it even more special for special occassions. As with most places these days noise is an issue and wish places like the Crossing would offer 'quiet' dining options. Other than that it's a wonderful place worthy of a try. Easy to get to and valet parking in Clayton is nice as well.

The Crossing was an excellent choice for a special birthday dinner on a Friday night. Even though the small restaurant was full and the noise level lively, the small but comfortable booth allowed the four of us to have nice conversation throughout the meal. Our server was of a higher level than I have seen in St. Louis in a number of years. Very professional but friendly, attentive but not smothering, and very knowledgeable. Food was inventive, choices were many. Two of us had the tasting menu, an excellent value. Courses were served to all with excellent timing. Very impressive; we will return.

Had to wait although we had a reservation. The hostess seemed overwhelmed. Noise level is unreal! Could not have a conversation with our friends, who came all the way from Miami for a visit. Fortunately we were able to switch to a table in the corner close to bathrooms and somehow noise was not as bad. Decor is terrible...the art on the wall is bad. Could use some needed revamping. That said, the food was very good, although I suggest they come up with something else for the appetizers they leave on the table while you are waiting for your waiter.....the Melba toasts fell off a plate too small...and it's kind of tacky looking really. I had an excellent main dish, the Kiing salmon on a bed of fennel...that was excellent. But it's not sufficient to give the Crossing a high rating. It had been recommended to me...disappointed.
