Always a pleasure and we loved the tasting menu with pairings - let the chef do all the work! We are looking forward to the new menu.

I had high expectations and our meal far exceeded them. Excellent and creative dishes on the tasting menu, which was very fairly priced at $85. Very friendly and professional service. Will definitely return

We've been to the Crimson Sparrow six or more times..for both dinner and brunch and each and every time everything- the service, ambience, food and drink is just as it should be: engaging, interesting, sometimes exciting, as in "WOW! All-in-all a wonderful and delicate balance. We've always left feeling perfectly satisfied- not stuffed or overwhelmed, just pleased and content. Thank you.

For tasting menu 2 dishes were very good (beef and pork belly), one was good (Softshell crab) but the rest were under spaced and bland. Service was very lackadaisical. I had to ask for pepper three times before actually getting it. Empty wine glasses were left on the table for multiple courses before I finally asked them to take them. Towards the end of our meal the server started spraying disinfectant on the table next to ours while we were eating one of our courses. Definitely not worth it.

Succession of exquisite small plates on the tasting menu kept us interested and excited for the next arrival.
My wife did find the sliced steak dish too rare, so I ended up eating it.

The food was very good. We enjoyed the tasting menu. I particularly enjoyed a mushroom dish and the wagyu beef dish. Our server didn't come around very often, forgot to replace our silverware, and didn't serve the drinks I asked for (I asked for the sake pairings only from the beverage pairing, to be paid for individually). The woman who initially seated us graciously checked on us and replaced the original sake pairings with new recommended sake pairings for the dishes I still had coming. The menu was misleading, showing three main course dishes when we only received one. It did not distinguish which main course we were receiving nor noted that one should have been particularly chosen (maybe this was a weird prix fixe/tasting menu combination?). This was quite disappointing. Overall, the food was great but the service was meh and expectations were cut short.

There was nothing special about this restaurant. The food was mostly below average, one or two good courses, tiny tiny morsel of tuna and scallop, pureed cauliflower that had no taste, fried potato, endive with a nondescript vegetarian filling, maitake mushrooms was decent but not wow, only decent thing was the hamachi and sunchoke puree. Even dessert was below average. And there was no sake pairing. We went to Hudson to eat in this restaurant but were so disappointed.

Always fabulous. Well worth the significant price tag for truly creative food and lovely wine and sake pairings. A tasting menu that won't disappoint. Each course was better than the last. What a great way to celebrate a special occasion!

The Crimson Sparrow was a bit disappointing. Though the food was good, I feel as if the dishes missed an opportunity to rise to another level. Each plate was made of its elements and when everything was combined with one bite, it tended to be good. If you were to taste each individual element by itself, the taste was usually flat. This created a problem for me. If each element couldn't stand on its own two feet, then that could lead to potentially bad dishes. In theory, I thought it might be a risky move that could lead to something interesting, but what really ended up happening were dishes that were good to the subpar to dishes that crashed and burned. Two dishes really stuck out in my mind. The first was the butternut squash porridge with cedar nuts and black truffles. Those combination of things sound fantastic, but when I ate this dish it became a flat, chewy mess. After the first initial hit on my tongue the flavor quickly sapped away and the truffles had nothing to elevate. The other dish that created problems was the smoked duck on yukon mash with black trumpet mushroom puree and a mushroom dust. Another dish with lots of potential, but became bland tasting and mushy in texture. The smoked duck ended up tasting like cheap smoked spam. When tasting the black trumpet puree on it's own it was earthy but tasted under seasoned. Not to mention the duck breast was very chewy and not tender at all. I felt like the dishes wanted to take me on this natural journey, but it's as if the technic and style got in the way of the natural ingredients. Of the 9 course only four were good and the other five, they ranged from the subpar to bad. I'd save your money and look somewhere else.

Dinner at The Crimson Sparrow is an experience. The tasting menu changes based on the ingredients available to the chefs and combines amazing flavors, textures and tastes with dishes that most people are unlikely to have had previously. We were there for a birthday dinner and Suzanne, our server, did a fantastic job of explaining each course including the optional sake pairing we both enjoyed. While dinner at The Crimson Sparrow is not an every night occurrence it certainly is our favorite place for special occasions.

This place had amazing atmosphere and the tasting menu was superb, but man was it OVERPRICED, and when you paying a bill that is over $800 for 4 people in Upstate NY, the Last thing you would expect is to be literally rushed out of your table, without finishing your meal due to next reservation needed to be seated and they brought dessert without even asking if we wanted coffee? We were about 20 mins late, but for the money they should be more accommodating,,,,

Spectacular tasting menu-loved the risotto with white truffles and the very creative nut "risotto" with black truffles. Abalone was divine as well. Perfect for our anniversary celebration. Will definitely be back over and over. Extraordinarily talented chef in a gorgeous space.

We had a great dinner at the Crimson Sparrow. All of our courses were consistently good, and some where really outstanding. I'm usually skeptical of beverage pairings, but the chef really made me a believer. The service was enthusiastic, if unpracticed. We would eat here again in a heartbeat.

Went to try the tasting menu after having been here for brunch a few years back (when they still did brunch!) We highly enjoyed the creativity of the dishes, as well as the sake pairing, which was definitely worth the extra $45. As with a lot of tasting menus we have experienced, we spent most of the meal wanting more, feeling hungry, but by the end of it, we were pleasantly full and not overstuffed. Highlights were the hamachi, octopus with squid ink, and duck. Great place for a date night or special occasion. We will definitely be back!

Seriously disappointing brunch. Expensive, mingy portions of not well prepared food. The fried chicken in the Tate was overly fried and it's presentation was just a pile of crusty nuggets on a flat bland waffle, with only a tiny ramekin of syrup. The English muffins weren't toasted. Both people who ordered sausages with their eggs left them alone after one bite. The blue crab in the scramble was tasteless and the dish was soggy, because the crab hadn't been properly drained. Maybe CS does a good dinner but its brunch is a sad affair.

We have been to the Sparrow on many occasions - both special and made special by the meal. If possible it has continued to improve and grow into its skin. Being a great restaurant in a quiet (relatively speaking) community is hard and to maintain that and grow is even harder

Once again an extraordinary meal - from the service to the presentation to the taste, everything was perfection - each tasting was beautiful and delicious. The servers were particularly knowledgeable about the preparation - there wasn't even one dish that was just so-so - each one was outstanding.

Outstanding tasting menu with superb selection of sakes; each plate was delicious in its complexity of ingredients & textures; the best restaurant in the Hudson Valley! The meal was served by a friendly & sophisticated young lady often accompanied by the 2 chef owners. Wonderful intimate ambience inside with lovely outdoor garden with view into the open kitchen. Deserves its reputation for fine dining.

Food was tasty, inventive and lovely presentation. Service for the tasting menu was almost 3 hours... Tad long. Also, no one told us we could order off bar menu... :-(. Finally, we were sat outdoors in a lovely patio area but the tree dropped leaves snd little flowers all over the table. No where else to sit and we had to clean off our own table.
