The Cove Steakhouse and Raw Bar Ratings and Reviews
Prime steak? This should def be investigated. Tiny 14oz cut. I’ve had better at Outback. Both steaks we had were over cooked. But my biggest gripe is don’t call steaks “prime”, sell them for $53 when I’ve had the same at grocery store for $12. Never going back for steak.
Good: She Crab soup, Calamari appetizer, Mac n cheese, Asparagus, Scallops with risotto, Cheesecake, Cream Brule, Chocolate Smores cake
Fair: Wagy Burger w/fries, Beet salad
Needs Improvement: Brussels sprouts (burnt, extra crispy), KC steak (undercooked, lots of fat, very tough)
Food Overall: too pricey for the quality
Staff: friendly and attentive (KC steak was very disappointing, manager offered free dessert for the table and took one order of streak off the bill)
2nd time eating here and again it was excellent. Service was great Juan I believe was our waiter. She Crab Soup was excellent as was my NY strip. My wife had the Prime Rib which was good as well. Calamari was not that great I d probably go in a different direction but everything else was fantastic. A little Pricey but that is expected at a casino restaurant. Will def be going back.
We enjoyed the cove for dinner. The food Was excellent. We didn't feel like we were rushed at all. I really miss the Tap and Tavern restaurant. You could get a good meal there. A good steak with veggies. The Tap and Tavern was a Much healthier option than Guys restaurant. I think there is a need for good quality dining at a reasonable price.
The server Spartacus was very versed in seafood and very attentive the Food was excellent and well priced could have used a few more items on the seafood tower aside that everything was spot on my Wife and I have eaten there 5 times for Dinner and well satisfied each time. Keep up the good work. Pat Rotella
REALLY 2 hours for a meal when the restaurant was dead. Food at the Cove is excellent but at the price of waiting taking hours. Had to stand on my chair to make someone come get my check so we could leave. The staff would rather stand around talking to each other than take care of their guest.
Service was terrible which sadly wasn’t our waiters fault, it appeared he had too many tables to keep up with. Our soup was cold, our food was lukewarm, our drinks took forever and we sat and waited for what felt like forever while some drunk guy repeatedly screamed throughout the restaurant. For the price, we will never return. Waste of money and time.
Our server was great but had too many tables as the evening progressed, not her fault we assumed.
Lighting over our table was like an interrogation room and too bright. A group was sat next to us who continued yelling and cursing, no one asked them to quiet down or leave. It was extremely upsetting to hear someone yell and curse when you are trying to enjoy a meal with family.
Food was substandard. Filet was chewy, mashed potatoes extremely dry, not worth $50. Total bill was over $350, would definitely spend this money elsewhere next time.
Our favorite! We dine there at least twice a month, usually on Friday's after a hard week of work for my hubby. Favorite menu items: Appetizers - Seared Tuna with truffle, She Crab Soup and the Seafood Tower. Entrees: Filet and Lobster Tail (We Share) - Shellfish Trio - Rack of Lamb and Mushroom Truffle Ravioli. Desserts: Creme Brulee and the Specialty Ice Cream prepared and served tableside.
Quite possibly the worst, most awkward waiter in Philadelphia. Just bad service overall.
1. Long wait for the table. Initially was told my table was being cleared. I forgot my phone in my car and said I'd be back in a minute. Was back, but waited another 10 minutes. Think they gave away my initial table. 😡
2. Once seated, I waited another 10 minutes for my waiter to show up. Had to flag down the kind hostess before the dude showed up. No water, no menu, nada. Just me twiddling my thumbs.
3. I put in my food order - soup and steak. No soup spoon or steak knife come to the table. Usually, once the server realizes the order, the proper utensils come out. Nope. Had to rely on the food runner to bring me those when the food arrived.
4. In the middle of my steak, as I'm still cutting and chewing, waiter comes up and asks me about dessert. Ummmm, pacing? 🤔 What about waiting for me to finish?
5. Meanwhile, my water has been empty for 15 minutes since the start of the steak course.
6. I ask for a takeaway box for my steak and side. There's a sizable amount. He brings the smallest container. And even after I gave him a quizzical look, he seems oblivious to the fact that the container is too small. I had to explicitly point it out. I've been here before, and I know there's a larger, more appropriately sized box. Just awkward and totally lacking in service intuition.
7. I get the bill back while I'm in the middle of a text. I'm still typing on my phone. He just waits awkwardly. Leave me to the check and come back later. Oh, and of course, he doesn't give me the itemized receipt. This awkwardness was the last straw.
So awkward and incompetent!!
The steak was good. As was the she-crab soup. The mushrooms and the broccoli gratin were too rich (butter and salt) for me. Overall, the food is good. But, the service killed the experience. I expected better for the price point.
We had a 830 reservation and arrived on time and was told oh Tori (who has a bad habit of calling people Love ...ummm no!!) will be right with you, once she decided to show up it was like she didn't see us ...another 15 minutes before we were seated really !!! let me say the food was good ..I had the seafood trio (I think) my husband had lamb cooked to perfection ...now for the bad part the service sucked the little hostess had this thing that she's like to call people Love ..no ! The waiter inefficient he forgot to take our order we had to catch him to place it..needless to say it took forever to get our food and when finally arrived I asked does Lamb take long to cook, he responded sometimes and kept it moving, I was trying to give him the opportunity to apologize for the food take so long but that didn't happen. He never checked in with updates or asked if we needed anything more drinks nothing either during the wait or once we finally did receive our food and for the prices you would think we would have gotten a little more attention because I'm sure he paid attention to his tip...!!! I won't be going back there
An excellent restaurant, Romal was our server and he is top notch. The food was excellent including the presentation of the dishes, way to go Harrahs! They have something for everyone on the menu, chicken, beef, seafood and the white cheddar mac and cheese is fabulous!
We were at the Cove about 6:30 on a Sunday during frigid weather so it was not crowded. Our server, Hasim (?), was very good. We ordered the Wagyu burgers, which were good but not outstanding. The horseradish catsup that accompanied them was way too spicey. Not sure if I'd go back without a Groupon, but with one it was a decent deal.
It was somewhat disappointing, I expected an upscale experience based on the prices, but it was a pretty casual atmosphere, the food was no better than a restaurant chain steakhouse.
My wife wanted to order a steak, however, the smallest steak offered is 16 oz. and way to much meat for her, she ordered clams casino as an appetizer and it appeared they were no better than frozen clams casino that you purchase in a supermarket. My wife settled on the chicken marsala and it was definitely not what we were expecting, it was served on a bone and you had to carve the chicken off, but that said, the food was good, but for the prices we were expecting exceptional. Overall, I don't think we would return.
What a wonderful night good friends good food great drinks. The Cove is a special place for friends to get together. The bar tender greeted us right away with a Happy New Year as soon as we walked in witch made the night already with a happy person greeting you. The food was cooked perfect as we all sampled each others because they were so tasty. Keep up the good work we will be back.
Bone-in NY Strip was very tasty. Prepared perfectly. Lamb t-bone was undercooked and had to be sent back. Returned cooked fine. Very thick lamb. Sides of fried Brussels sprouts, garlic mashed potatoes, and sauteed spinach were good. Bread was cold not fresh baked. Ice cream hadmade at table. Exquisite. Overall, very good.
My wife and I had a very pleasant exp. at The Cove. The wine selection isn't extensive, but it was good wine at the typical 300% upcharge. Travis our waiter was very efficient and very courteous throughout. "Wolffie", who assisted Travis was funny and courteous, all while entertaining the entire restaurant by making fresh Nitrogen Ice Cream. Its a very close easy getaway and great for cocktails overlooking the Delaware. We had fun.
Greeted by a very nice hostess and seated at a nice table. Being a chef myself of a fine dining #1 rated on trip advisor/DiRONA award/wine spectator awarded restaurant I have knowledge of dining. Juan our server was very pleasant and knowledgeable on the menu/drinks/apps. First of all Juan told plus they were out of salmon and Prime Rib. It's such a shame that a steakhouse would run out of any steaks!!!, so that was the first disappointment. Ordered the calamari and clams casino. Clams were flavorful, but most of the breading on the squid fell off, what I had was quite delicious though. We ordered a glass of wine each to enjoy. The breads were warmed and presented with whipped butter, nice touch. Our meals came out in a timely fashion with every course and I had the bone in KC Strip. Ordered medium and came out the better part of mw to well done, very disappointed. My girlfriend had the Filet. Neither of out steaks were seasoned at all and actually tasted pretty bland. Did not send back or complain cause I just don't do that. Ordered roasted garlic pot which were luke warm and the fried Brussels sprouts, which were probably the most flavor/best thing we ate that night. We did not have dessert but a few of the choices seemed they would be delicious. Time to pay the bill and Juan presented us with complimentary Christmas ornaments that was a very nice touch at the end. So all in all the service and FOH gets a 5 star and BOH was not too impressive as well as running out of food 1-2star as well as the KM for lack of product. Not sure I will return as so many option the in Phili area, but glad I went to try.
As always, the Cove did not disappoint. My husband had the seafood trio - scallops, shrimp, lobster and I had the mushroom ravioli. Absolutely delicious. The only issue was that the ravioli came out warm and not hot - still definitely flavorful and I ate it all. We always sit at the bar since Karen (the bartender) is always friendly and attentive. Will we go back? Absolutely.
The only problem we had was that the service was slow because our server had too many tables to tend. He even had to bus his own tables. He was a very good server . It was not his fault that he was over worked. He was busting his butt trying to please us. Harrah's needs to hire more servers so that customers are not waiting.
