The County Cork Wine Pub
Great as usual
When we got there we were told that open table shouldn’t have let us book a 7.45 so we had to wait 30 mins for table. She told
Us we could have table in the back as soon as they left. When it got cleared off we walked over to it and sat down and then she came and said the table had actually been reserved So would we move. Really! So we moved to another table up front. Which would have been fine but now because we were seated so late, it’s was 8.20, the musician came on at 8.30 and now we were right in front of him and couldn’t hear each other speak. Had we been seated at our reservation time this wouldn’t have been as much of an issue. Generally it just seemed disorganized and the hostess seemed overwhelmed. I’ve eaten there before and the food is decent. My hskband did order steak cooked medium it was way over cooked. Other than that food and drinks were good.
Had a wonderful brunch with 3 friends lately. The menu was creative. My friends had the fried green tomato Benedict and were very pleased. I had the crab cheddar scramble and I enjoyed it. Both meals came with hash brown potatoes. The potatoes seemed sweet and, sure enough, the server said they were sprinkled with Old Bay seasoning and sugar. The sugar was off-putting for all of us and I think we should have been given prior notice. Portions are modestly small. The server was very friendly.
While it was an okay place, I could not say the price charged was worth the food received. The beef was tender but it wasn't anything special. We will not return. The wait staff was pleasant and the surroundings very clean.
My wife and I had a great meal. The service was a little slow. All in all, a great time.
Cork’s has been a place we often end up eating at because the food is good value, the service is very good and staff always very friendly. The chef homes up with tasty items like the short rib tacos with salsa verde and grilled oysters with a Vietnamese sauce- yummy! The bar tender makes some very good cocktails. Friday music nights tend to be fun to go for an after dinner drink.
Great food and service. Pan roasted Cod and seafood Shepherd Pie are fantastic!
Went for brunch and had poached eggs on fried green tomatoes. It was delicious. My friends got the dish with grits and the other got an omelette. They both said they were excellent. The place can get loud and overcrowded, but it’s a nice small restaurant in a convenient area.
This place is great. I'm used to seeing gourmet restaurants like this in Paris and throughout Europe but here it is in Eldersburg! European cuisine and culture is just a short car drive away! No need to buy an airplane ticket to get this creative and delicious cuisine! My favorite (so far) is the Pan Seared Cod. To die for. Cheese and meat board with wine is outstanding. There is some seating outside in front. You'll find me there come Spring and Summer! Dining al fresco with County Cork can't be beat.
Birthday celebration - the fondue and the seafood shepherds pie were delicious!
Dinner and service great as usual but have to say, the current strip steak entree not as likeable as previous menu option with herb butter. Both of us dining got this item and felt just not quite at the same level. Thanks
Brian and Melanie were fantastic . We got 3 different dinners . My filet came over done but Melanie took it and had it fixed so quickly . You have a fantastic staff great food great wine I always leave happy
My husband and were recommended this place from a distillery owner in Old sykesville. I really enjoyed our visit and our waitress was incredibly sweet and helpful. I had ordered some lamb with a French dip (thinking it was cream based), but when I saw the dark liquid I had her double check to see if the broth was mixed with beef. She came back and said "you're right...it's actually both lamb and beef" and she nicely took away the sauce and apologized. She didn't do anything wrong, but she definitely cared enough to double check which is something I greatly appreciate.
Our family of 4 (kids 10 &13) enjoyed our evening. The food is a bit rich for the kids but between a few meals and appetizers we pieced together enough for both of them without compromising what we like for dinner. The service is always excellent and there is always something new and interesting on the menu!
Good meal at reasonable price. Good for casual date night.
I enjoy the atmosphere and service. I am not too fond of the food and preparation. The salads are saturated with too much dressing and the foods are cooked in an oil that is not desirable. I stick with the cheese board, appetizers and wine, then sit back and relax for the evening.
Excellent food and service. Live music as well
Always a nice meal, and they aim to please. Highly suggest you take friends and family here.
Arrived early and sat at the bar to have a drink. Drinks were good. We sat at a hightop next to the bar. All of the menu selections looked delicious. My wife ordered the leg of lamb and I had the pork porterhouse with a side Cesar salad. We ordered a boudin for an appetizer. The salad came first. The salad was good. The appetizer came next and it was ok. The entrees came out after what felt to be a long time. The lamb was terrible. It was like chewing leather. Over cooked and appeared to have freezer burn. Very dry. The pork as ordered medium rare but was cooked well done. I don't understand why they ask how you want your food cooked if they don't accommodate. Seasoning was ok but dried out due to being over cooked. We were both very excited to find this place as the menu looked wonderful but we were very let down by the food. I would go back for the bar but I would not order food there again.
The new menu is awesome, chef Gordon does a great job
Food was pretty good overall, service was excellent. A smaller place and going through a ownership change right now so not sure if maybe that's why things were not as good as usual, will try again.
We typically have great service but were surprised this past time to find that our server charged us twice for an appetizer. We asked for veggies because we needed it gluten free and ordered dinner as GF as well. When the app came out, we saw breadcrumbs on it. We notified the server and she said well I’ll split that mistake with you and she said I’ll be right out. She said although we said veggies for gluten free, we didn’t specifically order the app gluten free so that it didn’t count... when we got our bill, we were charged twice— once for the app she left with us and once for the app correctly as we intended ordered it. We typically have great service so perhaps she was having a bad night but I was rather disappointed when I got the bill. She told us we’d split the difference... but we were charged for both. I’m not sure what that means but I don’t believe it’s good business practice. It’ll be a while before we’re back even if this was an occasional mistake.
This was my first time here. We were sat at our table right away. It wasn’t very busy, out reservation was 6:45, so we missed the happy hour crowd.
Our waitress was great! Super friendly and very attentive. She answered our questions regarding the menu and made our evening special!
The food was good. We started with the Thai shrimp appetizer, delicious!
I ordered the short rib as my entree and my fiancé ordered the filet mignon. Both were good!
Overall, we enjoyed our evening here and would definitely come back!
The service is excellent! Very attentive waitress for every move! Appetizers, cheese board, salads and wine are my favorite thing to do at the Cork. I don't eat the entrees 'cause I don't care for the oils they use to cook with.
Visited for the first time with friends on a Saturday night. Food was very good and noise level was low enough that it was easy to carry on a conversation. I would go back.
Wait staff and owner are very accommodating and friendly-ensuring you have a pleasant dining experience. I would certainly revisit!
I should have sent my meal back, leg of lamb. I was told the lamb would be prepared medium. The piece of lamb I received resembled shoe leather, tough and slim.
I would recommend sandwiches. I have been here before and my sandwich was good.
Our server was quite good except for her information about the lamb.
Martinis are weak, which was fine for us.
We came here to try their restaurant weeks menu. We ended up ordering a couple things from the regular menu, too. Solid pub fare, with a twist. Definitely something on this menu for everyone. Also definitely a locals place -- the ambience was friendly and down-home.
We have been here before but decided to go for Howard County restaurant week after looking at the menu. It did not disappoint. The kitchen knocked it out of the park, in fact. Grateful mix of flavors. The gazpacho was the biggest surprise since neither of us could imagine a sorbet pairing but it was incredible. The sorbet added a unique flavor profile. It complimented the garlic in a most delightful way. Don't miss this dish.
Our server, Melanie, was equally outstanding. Her timing of courses was right on point. She was always refreshing the water without us having to ask (a personal pet peeve of mine). Super friendly and genuine. A rare quality found in the service industry these days. Highly recommend checking out The Cork.
Lots of of food option, good wine list. Draft beers limited but fair amount of bottled beer options.
Always a good spot for food and fellowship !
Outstanding food. Reasonably priced wine choices. Melanie, our server, was friendly and attentive.
WE ORDERED THE FRIED GREEN TOMATOES AND THEY WERE MUCH TOO SPICY.
I HAD A REUBEN WHICH WAS GOOD AND HUBBY HAD A TURKEY SANDWICH THAT WAS JUST FAIR. SERVER WAS EXTREMELY NICE
We dine here every few weeks, and always enjoy the meal. Food choices are innovative and fun try. Waitstaff is top-notch.
This was our first visit. We found it to be a great local restaurant with very good food. We had great servcie too. Very comfortable and casual environment.
Always a great time here with friends!! Highly recommend. Great brunch too.
Great food and service. Went for a early brunch with family and everyone enjoyed their food. Bottomless mimosas and bloody marys were a great value at $12. The breakfast pizza was delicious.
Always a great experience
Second time to visit and the only complaint is that it’s so hard to decide what to have because you’re afraid of missing something else that’s really good! Servers are wonderful and the owner is very hands on and so nice!
This was our first time and what pleasant surprise so close to home. The food was well conceived and well presented. There was a nice array of small and large dishes, and the 3 Small’s we had were enough for a light dinner. The Thai shrimp stood out, with the squash risotto cream and almost delicate. Attentive service complimented the evening
GREAT FOOD, WAITRESS, WINE. OVERALL WONDERFUL EXPERIENCE. WILL DEFINITELY RETURN.
