We really had great service from Max. That really contributed to the overall great experience
Love the menu changes and new decor
found menu to be very limited
Overall restaurant is very loud and cold
The restaurant has been redecorated. Instead of softening the noise level, the noise level has become intolerable. No one could hear anyone talking at the table without yelling. This does not make for a very nice dinning experience. No one enjoyed the evening.
Always enjoy visiting the cottage for dinner or lunch.
I must say, I did like the cottage decor.
WORST SERVICE EVER- went without water for 30 mins. No salt and pepper on food or on the table. Limited lobster on sandwich. Cold fries. Rude waiter- no class- didn’t want the ratatouille... after 5 great visits will never go back.
Good place for lunch...
Very noisy and hard to enjoy because of that
We booked for our twins 7th birthday. We waited at the door at least 15 mins because it seemed that our reservation was missing or that a table was not reserved for us - it turned out to be the latter. We were asked if we could sit at a high table - I said that with 3 seven year olds that was far from ideal least of which for safety reasons. I said that in the reservation online I had said no to a high table and requested a booth to which I was told 'that's a request doesn't mean you are going to get it'. I asked why a table was not ready for us and told that the high table was available and that for a large party it's difficult to accommodate - we were a party of 6! There was a lot of huffing and puffing as if it was an inconvenience to organize a table for us - I would have walked out if it weren't for the fact that the children asked to go to the cottage for their birthday as a treat and had been excited about it which I noted in the reservation. To say the experience was disappointing is an understatement! The situation could have been resolved easily if it wasn't for the attitude and rude nature in which we were treated - the manager/front desk staff on that night should not be managing any restaurant... her behavior was appalling
Redecorating done in January very nicely done. Our server was superb. The food continues to underwhelm, and I don’t think it would take much to take it to the level it should be in the demographic it serves.
Excellent food and service.
Great place for families!
The restaurant has just been renovated, very pretty but WAY too noisy. I couldn’t hear my husband across the table. Food is consistent and great menu for everyone.
The service is great. We went to the Cottage for burgers and were not disappointed. The lamb burger and fries are delicious. The grass-fed burger is also quite good.
Nice little get together with a friend..
Fish tacos were good ..took the third one home..
Nice area for a quiet conversation...
Got really busy around 6:30 and a little more noise!
Like the new decor... would come again..
Really nice getting a booth and an pleasant and comfortable place to have a business meeting. It has good food, nothing outstanding but solid and dependable. I had lamb burger which was cooked well and had nice flavor and good side salad and friend had avocados stuffed w chicken and tuna salad which are plentiful and he enjoyed. Very good meeting spot for friends or business
The server was fantastic..attentive and energetic. The ambience was that of an upscale cafeteria - super bright with a vanilla design. The food was edible but for our dishes there was nothing special about the flavor or presentation. It’s my first time here...definitely my last. That said - if you like the characteristics I described you’ll enjoy yourself. Lot’s and lots of parking because it is right next to a supermarket and strip mall.
Our server was amazing!! We celebrated my moms birthday and she had a great time!!
All of the food was bland, unseasoned and tasteless. I told the server I was lactose intolerant. I specifically said to him, "No butter, milk, cream or cheese." He didn't write anything down. I chose the Salmon a la plancha with eggplant caponata. Should have been grilled with olive oil, no milk products in anything. I was served an absolutely plain piece of grilled salmon (that never saw a cedar plank) and plain steamed broccoli. Made fresh, but absolutely no seasoning. No caponata. That's not what I ordered. No butter doesn't mean no herbs or spices. When I discussed this with the server, he seemed perplexed. What did he tell the kitchen? Who is cooking in this restaurant, did anyone in the kitchen go to culinary school? And the broccoli? I asked for the caponata, he returned with a tiny cup with 1 tablespoon of lousy caponata. Inexcusable. Hey, Ina Garten has an excellent eggplant caponata recipe on the Internet; make that. We asked about dessert. It was my birthday. All of the few dessert items had butter and/or milk (cream). The server made no effort to ask the kitchen what they could give me for dessert. Look, lactose intolerance is very common. If a restaurant can't figure it out, just make a vegan entree and dessert; that's fine, too. There's no excuse to be served sub par food. We won't eat there again.
My wife and I were going to a concert in the middle of the awful rain storm. We wanted someplace where we could park nearby and remembered the Cottage. I want to commend our server, Kristie, for doing an awesome job! She kept an eye on us throughout, and she would come whenever we looked her way. Otherwise, she let us enjoy the warmth of being inside without interruption. The nachos were enormous and tasty. I recommend the pumpkin tiramisu. It was delightful. My wife enjoyed her fish tacos.
Good meal, nice ambiance for a business luncheon, well-located/easy parking.
Cottage Wellesley is my favorite restaurant! I go there for lunch 1+ times/ week and occasionally for dinner. I love the staff who really go out of their way to greet and serve me. My favrite meals are the ahi tuna nachos served with apple jicama slaw rather than the Asian vegetables and the salad Nicoise.
Sunday brunch for three. Seated promptly on time for our reservations. Omelettes and French toast were all perfectly prepared. Fresh scones were the best. Ambience is welcoming as well as the service staff. This a a frequent place for us and it does not disappoint.
Monthly get together with friends for Brunch.
The new decor looks great ! The service was fabulous..
Everyone enjoyed their omelette and the coffee was awesome!
food good..service was not as punctual as one would hope server very nice..but appeared to be overwhelmed...overall good meal and will return!
I went with my boyfriend and we really enjoyed it
Service was excellent. Friendly wait staff, quick & attentive, not overly attentive. Very nice.
Food: you're mailing it in. Really, really bland. Boring. The tiny portion of pico de gallo with the fish tacos was a gloppy, mushy mess with absolutely no flavor. Same with the paltry side of black beans. You're not even trying. For good pico de gallo, see Chipotle. The fish in the fish tacos was fresh -- generous portions, but bland, no flavor.
You're trying too hard to be cute on your beer selection. Your Belgian selection was bland. Nothing beats a good, German hefeweisen -- everyone knows that.
Avocado toast appetizer: really stingy with the cilantro, and then, just sprigs. No leaf. Mostly just a big, tasteless mush.
Think outside the box a little bit: just regular ketchup for french fries? Be different -- offer a spicy ketchup option, also. Heinz would be fine.
Creme brulee: that was good. Did you make it on premises? If so, good job.
Great birthday dinner. Service was lovely. The only set back was waiting 5 minutes for someone to come to the front of the restaurant to check us on and be seated
Disappointing! This was the third time this group of friends met at this convenient location. Last time was about 9 months ago. We all agreed the current menu was uninspiring and the food equally so. I brought my salad home, made some additions and enjoyed it much more the next day. We all agreed we will find a different location for our next gathering.
My family was in town for a college event. This was our visit to the restaurant and we loved the food so much we went back for another meal during our 4 day weekend. The service is a little confusing. Lots of servers walking around unclear where food should be delivered but that didn't effect us too much. Try the lobster sandwich, chicken sandwich, salads, and Crab Cake Benedict. We were advised to order hamburger med well or it would arrive raw. Hamburger arrived totally burnt. We were in a hurry so we didn't complain but the other 2 sandwiches were much better.
Nice local casual restaurant. I recommend it.
The only thing that could have made it better is if the server had a smile.
My impression was that nobody really cared Service was not good, crab cakes were warm and soggy, order was screwed up. Coffee was good but you had to ask for a refill.
We hadn't been there for a while, since the renovations, but we very happy with the new decor and menu. We'll definitely be back.
Sat at table next to bussing station and was sprayed by water without much of an apology. It was a Saturday night, so I understand it is busy, but service was very slow. Food was okay.
Very disappointing Valentin’s day dinner. Had to wait 45 mins (7pm reservation) for a table. Service was slow and our server had no clue about drinks or specials for the night. We used to enjoy this place in the past. No longer. The only bright spot was the food, loved it. Would not come back until service improves.
Went for Valentines. Service was abysmal. Took over an hour to get a burger. The burger tasted like it had been under a heat lamp for the hour. I told the manager on the way out and she could have cared less. Note- drinks are watered down and oysters are smallest I’ve ever seen.
Waitress was a bit pushy - probably thought she was attentive but instead was overbearing.
Have dined here for lunch and dinner numerous occasions.
Food is very well plated. For a business conversation, too
noisy. Requested a booth via Open Table a couple of days
prior to meeting and it's first come, first serve. Not a place
for a quiet/private conversation.
Good lunch menu. Great server! Acoustics improved recently. Still a fan but wish it was even more acoustically friendly.
