We had a wonderful time at Corn Maiden. The food was great and we sat at the chefs bar top area and was able to see the whole kitchen. It was really neat to see the chef and cooks working together on all the food. Can’t wait until we go back again!
I love the Corn Maiden, and I realize we were there during the Balloon Fiesta, BUT, the cocktails arrived after the soup was served. The server did not have control over the flow, and the restaurant was not full, so this was inexcusable (excuse that there was an intern at the bar). There wasn't a line waiting to get in, so my advice is to wait and see that the drinks have arrived, then put the order into the kitchen for the soup. However, the corn bisque was incredible, and my short rib entree was melt-in-your mouth delicious. So while I give the food 5 stars, service was 3 stars, overall, 4. My past experiences have been 5 stars from top to bottom.
Service was excellent, very attentive. Food was perfectly prepared, presentation was good. Great special occasion dinner! Have already recommended to friends.
This place does not disappoint!! Everything about Tamaya resort & spa was seamless! The customer service is OUT. OF. THIS. WORLD! We will be back!
The Corn Maiden is a very special place. Great food with a team of outstanding local chefs. Great ambiance and views of the Bosque.
Made a dinner reservation and walked into a wine tasting dinner.
Great service even better food. Nice romantic dinner outside with a view of the Sandias. The local bar at the Tamaya had live music and it only helped the dinner. I’ve loved this place from the first time I went. My wife agrees and is always ready to come back. I have 1 gripe and it’s a small one. I wish they had more local wines.
Appetizers and dinners were very good. We ate from the rotisserie menu and thoroughly enjoyed both dishes. Our server was very attentive and knowledgeable. He made excellent recommendations. The only thing I would change is the cocktail menu. Great food in a great setting like that needs a better cocktail menu.
Great food and friendly attentive service! Great spot for a special occasion or romantic meal.
Over priced & average food.
The food was amazing and the staff were excellent! A definite "must try."
It was our Anniversary. In a huge room they sat a party of guys next to us. So we had no privacy. They could have sat them further away from us. It would have been a lot better. After all the room on had three tables full the rest was empty.
The food was just ok. We only had a limited menu. Which when I made the reservation it said 55$ per person but when we got there everything was separate. Also my husbands meal had to be remade.
The one good think about the entire dinner experience. Was our waiter. He did everything to make up for the evening. He was great! Honestly I wished we would have stayed at the lounge and had dinner there. It was beautiful.
Poor communication skill by waitress. Got appetizers and nothing to drink for about 10 minutes. That is after I had to go in and ask about just some water.
The very expensive steak was almost all fat. All of it was overpriced for what it was.
We looked forward to visiting the Corn Maiden for quiet evening celebrating a birthday. We walked in the front door and noise level was so high we thought we were at the wrong place. Could not hear the wait staff when trying to order the noise was so loud. She apologized and said there was a party of 50 in the next room. The noise level the entire time was out of control. clanging silverware on glasses, etc. It ruined our evening. we ate as quickly as possible and left. Party of 50 at this type of restaurant seems unreasonable. we won't be returning. Food was ok, but the noise was not.
anniversary dinner. Unfortunately there was also a big dinner party going on and the service suffered. 10’ before we even were offered water. Then apologies made for slow service and noise level. Food was mediocre. We’ve eaten here for years and things change but the quality of the food shouldn’t. The steak was tough and the jumbo prawn was small.
So disappointed used to love the Corn Maiden.
It’s a nicer-than-average hotel restaurant, but several guests brought rambunctious children that were allowed to run around the restaurant unchecked (seriously, a group of children played some sort of game on the ground just inches behind my chair), which seriously detracted from our dining experience. In short, it felt like an Olive Garden, but with better food and nicer decor.
We were disappointed in the quality of the food at Corn Maiden. The green Chile strips we ordered as an appetizer had no heat in the Chile. They were over breaded and the breading didn’t have any seasoning. My husband’s steak was fatty, and was poorly seasoned as well. My stuffed poblano pepper looked like it had been stuffed weeks ago and then warmed through, or perhaps it just sat under the warmer for an hour forming an odd crust. It was completely without flavor while the broth it was served with was like drinking a salt shaker. The food was poor, especially for the price. I wouldn’t recommend this to a friend, even if the service was good and the ambiance lovely.
Beautiful and delicious
The food was good, the ambiance and view on the patio were fantastic, and the service was attentive. Our waiter tried a little too hard to be chummy and jokey - he should tone it down a little, but he was very young so I'm sure he'll learn. Biggest gripe is that towards the end of the meal the mosquitos - who were nowhere to be seen earlier - came out in force. A couple of torches had gone out - I wonder if they had been keeping them at bay.
The food was very good. However, our service was a little strange. Our server kept telling us to notify him if we needed anything, but was not readily available. I had to ask for bread, which I think should have been supplied automatically. He kept bowing rather than actually providing service. I know he meant well, but he kind of spoiled the occasion for us.
Food was delicious. Pricey, but worth it. Even the sides/vegetables with the entrees were really fabulous.
We had dinner on a Friday night. The place was not very busy and we didn't really have much of a view of the mountains. We had a drink on the patio before dinner and just loved the views and beatiful grounds - just amazing! Then we stepped inside for dinner. The place is nice and the staff were very nice, professional and attentive. Clearly the staff or chef can't control the infrastructure, but you would think that the views would be more predominant. The atmosphere seemed dark (at least in the area we sat, and you felt detached from the beauty that was right outside.
Our meals were good to very good. The service was very good to excellent - attentive but not overwhelming. The wait staff respected that we were having business discussions and didn't interrupt us to ask if they could fill our water glasses. But the overall value was just not there. The prices seemed high for what you get. I would think that a nice, "fine dining" place like this would have white table cloths.
We will go back, but I would not "rave" about the overall value.
Excellent atmosphere, never feel rushed. The server was friendly and efficient. The food tasted amazing and was pleasantly prepared and presented. Awesome overall experience.
We ate outside every evening. It was cool, peaceful, relaxing. The service was excellent. He/she was unobtrusive and attentive. It was on outstanding experience.
The staff was very professional & accommodated special requests. Overall the food, ambience and service was just excellent. Thank you!
This is the second time I’ve been to this restaurant and the service has been just OK. When you are spending $200 on dinner one would expect an attentive, knowledgeable server but that has just not been the case.
A wonderful birthday celebration at the Corn Maiden. The food was fabulous!
The food was good, but steaks were overcooked. Service was very good except for the fact that there was a larger party in an adjacent room that seemed to take precedent over our service (for instance, our food arrived later due to their appetizers needing to be served).
Bring a big heavy parka. It is freezing cold in this restaurant. The food is excellent. The service is fantastic. The only thing wrong with it is that it is so cold.
Unfortunately, despite the lovely setting and wonderful server, this was a poor dining experience. The place was empty but Open Table would only give us a slot at 7, not 6:30 as requested. The hatch Chile’s were heavily breaded with a tiny amount of chili’s which seemed previously frozen. The special rotisserie dish with duck, ahi and prawns ( only 1, it turns out) was overpriced and almost inedible. The duck was chewy, the tuna over cooked and just salty. In fact all the food was too salty. Save your money and eat in the resorts regular restaurant.
I WAS SOOOOO DISAPPOINTED! I have been to The Corn Maiden several times before, but this was my husband's first time. The menu was limited--and dull. Our food, though okay, was just not worth the price. My husband is not a wine drinker, so I always just order by the glass. The by the glass selection was down right HORRIBLE for such a pricey place. It was the same as the low end bar at the resort. Very disappointing. All grocery store wines! What is up with that!? My rib eye was (for $50) no better than I can get at the grocery store and my husbands "risoto" was crunchy! So disappointed. We had a sweet young man as a waiter, but he was too much!
Food and revise were exceptional. Very nice and unusual menu
Food and service were both excellent. I would recommend this restaurant for any occasion.
Awesome service!!! Our server remembered us the next day!
We've enjoyed celebrating our wedding anniversary at Corn Maiden for many years. It's getting harder. There is always uncertainty about the days they are closed, thus we decided to celebrate our Monday anniversary on the preceding Saturday. Our waiter did greet us acknowledging our anniversary (some years, they don't) and told us to save room for a complimentary dessert. We had previewed the menu and tentatively decided on entreés but were told they were out of scallops for the scallops and prawns. When we inquired about their signature mini corn muffins, we were told they were also out of those. The cold and hot starter selections were reduced to two each; disappointing. My Kir Royale cocktail was delicious. The prawns were large and cooked to the correct done-ness. The accompanying heirloom cherry tomatoes and grilled asparagus were very good. The risotto was creamy but had a bit too much crunch from some added vegetable. The complimentary raspberry cheesecake was served on a plate inscribed in chocolate with "Happy Anniversary", a personal touch I always appreciate. On a Saturday night in summer tourist season, I would have expected the kitchen to be better stocked with the limited menu items.
the menu has changed not as many choices, the wait staff also does the bussing making them hurried, before when we use to go for special occasions there were a team of wait staff and a busser. and it was more relaxed and un- hurried. the chefs always welcomed us when we arrived and said good night on the way out this time neither happened.
part of fine dining and overpaying for food and drinks is the ambiance. the corn madien has lost their ambiance
Jewson was a fantastic server both nights.
Food was outstanding as was the service. Chef accommodated my spouse desire for low carb entree sides. Proteins were were outstanding, though short rib was slightly difficult to shred. Au-graten potatoes and mole dipping sauce were best ever. Waiter was attentive but not annoying. Blustery weather forced us to take a table indoors but that is not the fault of humans. Will go back for special occasions.
