Chicken pot pie was superb.
Another great meal at the cozy Copper Hen. We brought guests from out of town and they loved both food and atmosphere.
Our servers were knowledgeable, fun and personable. Great food and such an excellent space. I'm already planning for our next meal there. I want all the yumminess we had and then some more! Man, I'd better start working out now to be hungry enough for so much goodness!
A trip to the Copper Hen always means great food. This time, service was lacking. Felt very rushed and as though the server was annoyed with the children present. The table was not checked on and it took almost twenty minutes for the cards to be taken after having been presented with the bill. Wasn't even offered dessert (a very large sin in my book!). Bad service that I had not experienced before at this restaurant. Worth visiting for the food alone though.
Food was good BUT, our server was horrible. So bad that, we had other servers feeling bad for us and refilled our water glasses and our "bottomless Mimosa" glasses(that saw the bottom several times) but thanks to someone else picking up the slack, we were able to stay hydrated. Only when the check came and it was time to TIP did she show back up and ask how we were doing. There are many other places we can go for brunch, so we won't be back for a while.
Absolutely awesome brunch. The root vegetable hash was outstanding and could be ordered as a side with other items without the more filling brunch entrees. Others in our party raves about the bread pudding French toast. Great coffee too. The only downside to this awesome restaurant is the noise level. So not the best for large group conversation but our service was great which made up for it.
We had a wonderful time, great waiter, staff were helpful with making sure the birthday floral arrangement was on the table at arrival. Attentive service. Amazing food! Perfect evening.
We had an early dinner with another couple on Sunday. 5ish, so really no crowds. Very nice space, interesting menu and good service. Pretty good drinks menu too.
Our group had a variety of foods, my duck with its various accouterments was excellent. Good pizza, soup and pot pie rounded out the comfort foods. The only mystery was the nearly flavorless brussel sprout Caesar salad. Dressing?
We'd head there again if we were in the area.
We always have a great meal and great service at Copper Hen. And not to mention awesome drinks & desserts. A perfect place for a date, dinner with friends or even brunch with parents. I LOVE that they take reservations!!
Delicious food, cozy setting, attentive un-snobby service and a generally lovely experience.
Food was delicious! A little over priced for the amount of food you get though. Would recommend for a special breakfast out.
Great place for brunch! I brought a friend who was visiting from out of town. Bottomless Mimosas are a great deal but just know the orange juice has a lot of pulp in it. We were sat against the wall near the bar. The only real gripe was how small the table was for two people. Not a big deal though as we will belly up next time since the chairs at the bar looked really comfortable. The website pics make it look really opulent but it’s far more cozy than anything when you step inside. I would go back for sure.
good restaurant! never gets old.
All five meals we had were terrific, outstanding mac and cheese, great short rib, service is good and the place is a little noisy like almost everywhere we go.
We brought our kids, 9 and 7, for a pre-theater dinner. They especially liked the pretzels and desserts. I would recommend asking, if you have a child ordering the mac and cheese, to have it put into another dish before coming to the table. The piping hot skillet was not as kid-friendly as the mac n' cheese in it. ;-) The drinks were super fun too!
Came for my birthday!! Food was delicious as always and our waiter was wonderful.
Our server was great! We loved all the food. The macaroni and cheese I think was the highlight of the dishes served. The cheese sauce was awesome and very rich. The only negative was the scallop dish was a small entree and I was left a bit hungry. It tasted awesome but not enough for a meal.
We had dessert to celebrate my birthday. The skillet cookie was delicious.
Would definitely recommend and we will visit again!
We loved our brunch !!
We dined here for Sunday Brunch before heading to a matinee at the Children’s Theatre. Despite horrible parking options (it took us almost 20 minutes to find a spot - which was 4 blocks away) and the noise, our brunch was delicious and the Bloody Mary’s were tasty (the savory mini-cupcake was a fun surprise). Our server was pleasant and informed about the menu. It’s very noisy so don’t expect intimate conversation!
short ribs were not good.
They forgot to seat us and we had a reservation.
Said they were running a bit late.. I had eye contact and asked if they would find us at the bar.
of coarse they said YES... but nope never came.. we finally asked them and they were embarrassed.
Waitress was great and so were the fries... I would go back again but not top of my list
Food was great. Menu had some unique options with some familiar items with a new twist.
Food was fabulous. Loved the bread pudding French toast and the root hash was delicious.
Our family of five made a reservation for brunch. Absolutely Outstanding food. The cinnamon roll was one of the best we’d ever had (and we’ve had a lot). Highly recommend the smoked duck hash. The combination of root veggies, duck, cheese and bernaise was out of this World. We also had the classic eggs Benedict, biscuits and gravy, bacon/pecan pancakes and crabby toast - everything was great. We also brought home cupcakes for dessert that night and they too, were wonderful. Just be sure to get them to room temp or the frosting will be hard.
The restaurant was quite noisy and very busy so service was a little slow (i would have liked more refills on my endless mimosa) but there’s a reason the place is full and I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend it to anyone who appreciates made from scratch, tasty and creative food! I will be back!
Service was terrible. It took the server 10 minutes to greet my party and and extra 5 for water. I’ve dined here before and the food is great. I’m sure I’ll be back, but it’s not a great place to go if you want an experience.
It’s a little loud when it’s packed, but amazing food as always.
Leslie is the best server!! Food and ambiance are always excellent, but Leslie always takes the whole experience up another notch.
The food was tasty. Not a huge menu but a nice variety of options. The chicken pot pie was flavorful and had a delicious top crust. The scallops were wonderful and cooked perfectly. While the cupcake looked small, it was a good size for an after-dinner treat.
Parking was an issue: the streets were crowded with parked cars and the snow piles made for difficulty in leaving the passenger sides. We ended up parked several blocks away.
We were there on a Wednesday evening. There was a very light crowd. We were not greeted when we walked in and the cashier was busy helping someone else so we felt slightly ignored. The tables were packed tog. I would guess there would be a lot of noise and lack of privacy when it’s busy. Our waiter was excellent. Our entrées were delicious we all wished there was more of the food. I was disappointed in the selection of desserts. I ended up having the cream Brulé which was outstanding
The liquor cake was only a cupcake with a small shot of Bailey’s or something and was very disappointing. With all the great entrées I think you should revamp your dessert menu. I had a chocolate martini and a bloody Mary and they were at most average. We did not have any signature drinks. I would return for the entrees but would probably avoid busy times.
The Brunch menu here was amazing: The root veggie hash and the french toast were outstanding. The trade-off is it's noisy and crowded. It's too loud to have a conversation with more than the person next to you, and tables are inches away from one another. If you can live with that, it's worth it for the food.
The staff was very attentive as well as friendly, the service despite being very busy was impressively quick. The only negative would be the noise level. Everything in that adorable place is a hard service and it was a packed house so that I couldn't even hear the waitress when she tried to share the specials. She was yelling and I had to ask her to repeat what she said in an even louder voice. So for that reason it wasn't the most relaxing environment.
Food, including cheeses starches, even meats. good
Food was delicious and reasonably priced. Very very cozy for a group of six. Appetizers and Dessert absolutely stole the show for me.
Too loud. Mediocre food. Under staffed wait staff.
Excellent service, I love the decor. All four of us had a great meal!
The variety of options on the menu is vast. The items on the brunch menu were very flavorful and ‘just enough’ portion wise. The atmosphere was busy / a bit crowded. Noise level was high. Service was on the slow side however it was very busy so it is understandable. Overall great experience!
We went before a show at the Icehouse across the street and were blown away by how good everything was. Four different entrees were tried between all of us - duck, scallops, steak, and salad w/chicken - and all of them were terrific to the point of us insisting others try because they were so good. I had the steak which comes as a three-course meal. I chose the Brussels sprouts Caeser salad which was amazing and large enough that I shared with my sister, steak was perfectly cooked (med rare) and had an interesting tomato sauce that really enhanced the flavor and delightful potato wedge french fries, and the dessert is one of their famous cupcakes. I upgraded to the boozy just to try it and it was very good, but I probably would have liked a different flavor better. Service was outstanding even though they were packed. I will definitely go back.
Service- from the server to the hostess to owner who came to our table- was EXCELLENT. I have been in the hospitality industry most of my life- I was impressed.
Above and beyond.
The atmosphere was great, the bartender was gracious and friendly, the happy hour drinks were creative and tasty. All in a great experience. We will return and recommend!
We just love the food! The bread pudding French toast is amazing! However, if you’re going on a weekend even just two ppl make a reservation or else you’ll wait for at least an hour.
The Restaurant Week menu and wine pairings were fantastic! We enjoyed the phenomenal kale caesar, the chicken pot pie and the champagne cupcake.
