Definitely make a reservation—brunch gets very busy. Farmer’s brunch is a menu staple and not something to miss! Our server gave is free cupcakes because we had to wait a while for our food, and we really appreciated the attentive service.
Would definitely recommend for special occasions or brunch, a little pricey but manageable every once in a while!
The Copper Hen is hands down my favorite brunch location in the Twin Cities! Their emphasis on local suppliers and their cozy vibe are incredible. I don't think there's a single mediocre item on the menu. The wait staff is incredibly friendly and I always feel at home while being there.
Great, friendly, very helpful waitress who anticipated needs and wants.
a little chilly, food was fair, nothing special, but good. Great service.
Great food and service. Very cold upfront seated by the front door and window and parking is a nightmare. But, still fun and will return.
Excellent food, service, and atmosphere
I asked for quiet seating when we made our reservation. I was very impressed that the maitresse d'e made sure that our friends (who got there first) were happy with the table. It was perfect! The extra attention to this request made a big difference to me in the overall quality of the establishment. We will dine there again!!
We were very happy with the Cooper Hen! We had a group of 9 for dinner. Upon arrival we were seated immediately and the service was great. There was an excellent selection of food. Each of the 9 people shared they were very happy with what they received and were complimentary of the food. It is a bit loud in there and difficult to carry a conversation with those sitting at the other end of the table. Overall, great restaurant and would recommend it!
Good selection for happy hour, not very busy, service was great.
I love this restaurant. It's very crowded feeling and is loud, but is worth it. They have added what looks to be a great bar and some new seating next door - connected through a large opening and that will help the crowded feeling I hope. Their cupcakes are AMAZING! It was my friend's birthday and they brought her a cupcake and bubbly! Very thoughtful. Service is really nice.
The Hen was packed! Our waiter did a great job and was very pleasant! Food was great as usual! We have been going since they opened, lucky to live very close!
It’s a popular spot for brunch, so it’s packed - which makes it noisy. But it’s delicious and the service did keep up even with so many tables.
We went for my birthday and it was fantastic! Will definitely be going again.
SUCH a great place! amazing food, great service, and a menu that is beyond tempting. The boozy cupcakes too... :)
Great appetizers. Love the crab avocado toast. Good old fashions. Like coming here a lot!
A lovely restaurant! The lobster-loaded farmer's fries are reason enough to give this place a try. Parking can be a challenge but the figgy old fashioned and apple skillet cookie will make it worth your while. I can't wait to return!
Loved the brussels sprouts Caesar and the wheatberry duck dish, the flavors were delicious! But there was so much fat on the duck that there was less meat that it appeared, also I could not cut the fat off, and had to eat caveman style. Also, even though I had originally booked for "birthday, we were shown to a tiny table along the wall in the second room by the restrooms; we requested a change and got a great table by the window in the first room. I would definiteley go back.
I usually get recommendations from the server to ensure a great meal. I was recommended to have the duck. It was really tough and they put the skin side down so the skin was soggy. Not great flavor either. The tri tip was a little over cooked but did taste good. Lobster fries were great and the pot pie was also really good. Was most excited for the duck and was underwhelmed. Service was A+ though. Still had a good time.
Last family meal for the holiday season.
Great little place! Best tomato soup in town! Fun for lunch or a casual dinner. Highly recommend!
Excellent service. Down to earth atmosphere. Piped in music too loud to carry on a conversation with a person 2 chairs away across the table. Good variety of menu items, but too expensive. Hamburger with 2 toppings was $19. Free parking across the street is a plus.
The server was unattentive and unfriendly, and apparently not a coffee drinker. Didn't offer cream or sugar, didn't refill, refilled wife's decaf with regular when requested, and just got snarky as time went on. Maybe having a bad day, who knows. That said, the product was generally unexciting as well... the decaf coffee was old (regular was OK), the "mixed green" salad was a soggy pile of spinach leaves, there was 1 measly poached egg in the farm salad which is just stingy considering the *effing* cost of the dish. Sounds like this place has fallen off many top X lists in the TC. I can see why.
The Copper Hen is a great option for dessert, but the service is lacking to say the least.
Beautiful place, delicious food, wonderful service. A true gem!
The price for brunch was not worth what I got. The options were very limited and some were very dry to the point of inedible. We also felt like we needed to hurry up and finish when they were done serving.
We visited The Copper Hen for New Year's Day brunch. We were told they had 600 reservations. They were slammed. The space was cramped, the space was loud, the staff was working hard, but had a hard time keeping the brunch buffet stocked with food and they ran out of clean plates on more than one occasion. They sacrificed quality in favor of quantity on 1/1/2019.
Atypical experience since it was a New Year’s Brunch Buffet (we didn’t know that when we made reservations). But still good, I think just more of a learning curve for them having a buffet in that space with that many people.
New Year’s Day brunch was fantastic. Good variety of brunch entries and food remained hot. Loved the pancakes! Wish the bacon had been crispier. Turned off by the 90 minute table occupancy rule. We were asked to leave, nicely, but it was uncomfortable and made the experience less enjoyable. Being slow eaters and having to wait in line to get to the buffet took time. I recommend the copper hen, but keep in mind for their holiday brunch’s, there’s a time limit.
Reservations were running 20 minutes behind schedule. No waiting area. Cramped restaurant. Tables and people stacked on top of each other. Little breathing room. Way too many bookings and tables for the space.
I recently had the New Year’s Day brunch. This is my second year coming and overall it was good. I commend the staff for everything they did and all the hard work. I noticed that it was far more crowded this year than last, so good job marketing! The food was very similar to last year, however nothing really stood out to me. Overall I enjoyed the brunch and will consider it again.
First off: I love Copper Hen and have told everyone that it is my favorite brunch spot in the Twin Cities, because it is. Absolutely perfect for breakfast and brunch. Was excited to try dinner there on NYE this year but IMO, the prix fixe menu fell flat. The only thing that I enjoyed was the tenderloin which was seasoned and cooked beautifully but I was not a huge fan of the rest of the meal. We also did the wine/bubbly pairings with the meal and let me tell you, none of the flavors went with what we were eating. I love the Copper Hen and will definitely return but not on a night with a prix fixe menu as I was quite disappointed.
Fixed menu surprise. My mistake
The NYE Course and wine pairing were SPOT ON. Our family truly enjoyed it and our server was AMAZING.
Our New Years Eve dinner was great. The food was presented well and the wine pairings were well planned. The service was timely and the right balance of attentiveness without being intruding.
It was a wonderful spot to celebrate New Year’s Eve.
Really great. My only complaint was my steak was a bit overdone but I ate it anyway. I’m sure they would have made it again if I’d ask. It was delish.
Excellent food, service and atmosphere! Can’t wait to return!
We love the brunch and go here for the bottomless mimosas.
Compared to my last wonderful experience here, this time around was less than impressive. Our waitress took very long between stops each time, she was rather rude, some of our food came cold, and the noise level was so loud, it was impossible to have conversation.
