The Copper Hen
Wonderful spot to grab brunch! The food, cocktails and service are all great. If you like bloody Mary’s and biscuits and gravy, look no further!
We've been to the Copper Hen before and enjoyed the food and service. This time was a Sunday visit and the experience was the opposite of the first. It took a long time to get service, then a long time to get our food. Once the food showed up, we had to ask for silverware. Seems they were "looking for it", as they had run out. So our food sat for five minutes, until the silverware was found. Wow, I've never experienced that before. Not sure if we will return?
Amazing brunch from the drinks to the meal to dessert! You can’t go wrong with any choices you make!
Had the best bloody mary!!!! and great server!!!! and really good food!!!noisy but not toooo noisy....oh, and the coffee... the coffee was HOT and delicious!!!
This is a brunch review only:
My girlfriend, her 6 year old, and I have eaten here twice so far. We've eaten pancakes, pretzels, biscuits and gravy, and several of their main breakfast dishes. Additionally we sampled their bottomless mimosas and menu cocktails. Thus far nothing has disappointed. One minor plating mistake was quickly rectified. We do not hesitate to order anything off the menu nor would we recommend this place for friends and family. There is a audible din to the atmosphere, but having and holding a conversation isn't difficult.
Duck was excellent! Chicken pot pie was underdone (crunchy potatoes) and lacked seasoning. Lobster fries were just ok - overpriced for what you get. Ran out of pizzas and the brie appetizer by 7:45pm on a Saturday which seemed a little bit early.
Adorable venue we were there at 9 am and it wasn't noisy but it wasn't packed either. Loved everything about it. The food was very good only reason I didn't give it 5 stars was because it wasn't hot when it came to the table - it was warm. Not a reason to stay away though - maybe our server was distracted or something. I am totally going back!
Not sure what’s going on at Copper Hen. Ordered their “famous” chicken pot pie - it was absolutely horrible. It took forever to get our food. When it arrived, it was Gray, doughy crust, soupy filling, hard undercooked vegetables. It seemed like it was a warmed up frozen meal. Some of the vegetables were ice cold. I had to return my food. The waitress apologized and brought a new one from the kitchen, after another long wait. Same thing the second time around. Huge disappointment.
Doesn't live up to the reviews. Was too loud, understaffed for their legendary breakfast/brunch rush, food was lukewarm and mushy. Copper hen feels like the kind of place making specialty breakfast food for the sake of specialty. They should refine the basics first.
I always enjoy Copper Hen. The food is always very tasty, the environment is charming and cool (actually a little bit cold sitting along the stone wall). I had previously been there for brunch a few times. This time I decided to take a friend from out of town for dinner. We shared the Brussels Sprouts Caesar which was a new refreshing taste. My friend got the Pesto, Mozzarella Pizza and I had the Chicken Pot Pie. Both were delicious. The veloute sauce in the pie was so creamy good. The vegetables in the pie were not fully cooked unfortunately, which would have made it even better.
The food was to die for. Unfortunately, it took nearly an hour to get it. Our server had a hard time remembering our drinks and seemed a bit spacy. We'll give it another shot because it was that tasty, but expect a wait.
Slow service. Cold, gelatinous Hollandaise sauce. Cold eggs.
Great food and service. Gave it only 3 stars due to the noise level. It was so loud I couldn’t hear anyone at our table.
Too expensive and the food was only so-so. The server was not very attentive.
I love CH, but the food is never hot enough by the time I receive it. Food is delicious, but consistently that is my main complaint with the food. It also took a long time for our waitress to take care of our check, and the host eventually noticed and took care of it for us.
I would maybe recommend. It’s nice that breakfast items are served all day.
Our food was amazing. I had the Farmer MAC burger on the house-made gluten free bread and it was maybe the best burger I have ever had. My husband had the lobster mac & cheese and was equally happy with his choice. We both had house cocktails that were delicious. We have always loved Copper Hen and this visit just reminded us why.
Group of 8. Excellent food, service, and experience.
Absolutely love this restaurant. I have been here for brunch, lunch, and dinner. In my book, if I don't know where to go eat Copper Hen always gets a vote. Food is always outstanding. There havent been a thing that I didn't like. Everything is fresh and comes out hot. The atmosphere is inviting and warm. Service has always been great. The only thing that I don't like much, is that if I don't have a reservation waiting time can be up to an hour in a half. It's a good thing regarding business, but in the cold of Minnesota winter, it could be hard.
Wonderful atmosphere! Close seating so really noisy when full house. The food was great, but on a Sunday at noon, took a long time to get to us. Not a problem since we had a lot to talk about, but go prepared for that. Food was great, but fries were cold and a bit dry. Server was swamped, but still remained very friendly; just didn't see a lot of her. Best rose white tea!
I would definitely go again though. Probably so much better during times of less crowds.
Very accommodating with changes. Food was good and service good
Been for Brunch several times. Brunch is always great. Tried Dinner a few times now and have been very disappointed. Food is bland, under seasoned, unimaginative and overpriced.
Excellent food and ambiance. Creative and fun food and drink choices. Wonderful casual atmosphere.
We had a table of six family members who haven’t been together in a while they were patient with us and all the chatter, the waiter was knowledgeable and made some great recommendations we all had a fantastic time we’ll definitely be back.
It was definitely packed. Greeted us and brought us to our table, since we had a reservation. Waiter was very kind however they didn’t have water cups to start (no big deal, they were busy). Drinks were ordered immediately but came at different times (beer, coffee... forgot one of the double espressos ordered). The food selection was wonderful but by the time we got our food certain parts of the dish were a little cold versus some other warmer dishes. There were some orders that we made after the main order that were forgotten but the waiter was quick to correct that. Waiter did apologize after the meal which is always great... however the cold potatoes were a little bit of a turn off for an otherwise good meal.
Water was coming from the ceiling and dripping onto our table & my friend sitting across from me.
Amazing food staff and service. Highly recommend !!
Terrific food and excellent service. My wife & I will be back. Thanks guys!
Atmosphere was great, food was good, but the restaurant is quite noisy. There are a lot of tables packed in a small space and not a whole lot of room for sound to quiet down. However, would definitely go again.
The Brussel Caesar salad was so different and yummy, and our steaks were amazing. The service was excellent and we had a very pleasant time! Thanks!
I have dined there numerous times with success. This night was very bad. The restaurant was not crowded, food took over an hour after I had to get up and ask about our meals, my salad had a chicken bone in it. One guest was told when the rest of the food was delivered that they did not have the ingredients to make her meal. She had to eat off our plates....not a good night!
We were in Minneapolis for a conference and found The Copper Hen on Open Table. Food was AMAZING and our server was friendly, attentive, and knowledgeable about the new menu that had only launched the day before. I highly recommend The Copper Hen!
We will be returning. Menu options are great. The appetizers look delicious. Suggestion—server should refill coffee or at least ask customer if she would like a refill.
The food was excellent. The servers were here nice. It was busy but not slammed, our server, while nice, really had no sense of urgency in getting drinks and refills.
Food was great, service was great - will certainly be back!
Great brunch! Excellent food, service, and ambience.
Very friendly and courteous staff. Lively atmosphere, seated right away even though we were late for our reservation. Menu had a good selection of items and the beer/wine list also has a good variety of choices. Food was delicious and beautifully served. Would definitely recommend if you like unique cuisine!
The decor is absolutely lovely. I was there for sat brunch and was surprised it was easy to get in. I love that they took reservations through OpenTable.
I had the Farmers Brunch- the scrambled eggs were nicely done but needed seasoning, the bacon was awesome, the bread pudding French toast was perfectly sized and tasted great, the root vegetable hash was slightly disappointing (I think if they were crisped up a bit it would have been much better).
Overall, it was a good brunch. The ambience is casual yet beautiful. Our server was very friendly and food was definitely worth coming back for.
We love Copper Hen but tonight had to be the best experience we’ve had. Our waitress was phenomenal. Some of the best service we’ve had at any restaurant. Elizabeth (I hope that’s her name) absolutely blew us away.
