The Copper Beech Inn Ratings and Reviews
We had a great evening at the Copper Beech Inn!
We sat in the lounge, which has a very cozy vib , and listened to someone playing guitar music.
The food was outstanding, especially this wonderful goat cheese cake appetizer !
This is a great restaurant for a special occasion or anytime you want to treat yourself !
We hadn’t been here in years, but will definitely try to come back soon.
I received 2 emails confirming my reservation, but when I arrived there was NO ONE around. The kitchen was empty, there was no one at the front desk. I drove an hour to treat my best friend to brunch for her birthday and no one had the courtesy to contact me and let me know they wouldn't be serving. It was embarrassing to say the least. I won't be using this app again - I will call my restaurants directly from here on in.
We went to the Godspeed Opera House for a matinee show and then to Copper Beech. I haven’t been there in years but it is just as rustic and beautiful as ever. The staff is extremely helpful and friendly which made our visit very comfortable. The food was excellent, service was timely and attentive, and we’ll be back. SOON!
Our party of 5 had a wonderful Christmas Eve dinner. I reserved through OpenTable and the restaurant called a few days beforehand to confirm. We had an early reservation (5:30 pm). I think it was because there were no other time slots, but we all agreed it would be best to beat the crowds especially on the holiday. All our dishes were excellent and filling. 3 of us had the scallops with lobster & corn risotto, one had ravioli and one the salmon nicoise. We had 2 desserts - creme brulee (awesome) and a red wine cake, spiced (not sure of the name). Both were great. This might be our new Christmas Eve tradition! (apparently my photos are too large to upload, but they're only 2.9 MB)
it had been 10+ years since we had dined in at the restaurant. It was nothing like we remembered. we had reserved a table 4 days before the date. first off they sat us in the bar area which was OK if you wanted to see people sitting at the bar drinking. The service was sub par. waitress had too many tables to manage and it showed, Poor atmosphere, poor service made the dinner very uneventful.
We had a wonderful time at The Copper Beech Inn. We were greeted quickly upon arrival and escorted to a great table. The Inn was decorated beautiful for the holiday. Our drinks and appetizers were great and so was my main course of Salmon. Everyone enjoyed there meal and we will be back soon!
As always, our experience at Copper Beech was notable. The staff there is always gracious and helpful. For our holiday brunch with friends, the Inn was the perfect spot to meet--- tastefully decorated and festive... Claudia went above and beyond, and even modified an evening entrée for our vegan guest...
such a warm and cozy table to catch up with one another, that we forgot to look up and notice we were the last to leave so they could set up for dinner... they could not have been more cheerful and accommodating about our indiscretion as we slipped back out into the snow-covered grounds... that is why we are regulars!
I hadn't been to Copper Beech Inn for quite some time, and I am HAPPY to report that it was just as great as I remembered it. Consistency in food and service are, in my opinion, the hallmark of a great restaurant, and the Copper Beech still excels in both. The attentive, efficient but not intrusive service was perfect. The food was superb--quality, preparation and presentation exceptional. Standouts were the jicama/cashew cheese "ravioli (happily dairy-free) and the beef and lamb entrees, cooked perfectly. I was only sorry that we didn't plan to stay overnight, so hope to do so next time. Don't hesitate to enjoy all the Inn has to offer. We'll be back---again!
We wanted a quiet dining experience but found the pub too noise. The formal dining room was set up but no one was using it so we asked if we could dine there. I think it stretched the staff a little bit but they accommodated our request and took very good care of us.
Where to begin ???
We were seated in a large room, near the door, in 2 very uncomfortable chairs. A large family gathering of at least 12 entered shortly after we did, almost each one bumping the back of my head as the did. 1 person apologized.
We waited to order drinks.....we waited even longer for our drinks to arrive & even longer for our server to take out order.
Our 1st course, 2 soups, arrived in a reasonable amount of time. The entrees were a different story. 20 minutes after our soup dishes were cleared, 30 minutes after our soup dishes were cleared, at least 40 minutes after soup AND only after asking our server as well as the owner where our entrees were did they arrive.
Beautifully plated my wife’s lamb was delicious. Beautifully plated my steak was a notch above room temp & tasted like his had been waiting to be brought to me for at least 20 minutes.
I flagged the server who apologized and said they would throw it back on the grill...so it would no longer be the way I asked but more well done. I said I did not want it and deferred offers for another entree as I wanted to leave before breakfast was served!
The did not charge for the entree and comped us coffee and dessert but even the coffee was not hot and the wait for the free dessert interminable.
I don’t know whether the fact that it was a Saturday night or that our server was tied up with the large family table but I do know that fr the prices they charge and the image they put forth the staff, from kitchen to server to busser, should have been up to the task.
It is highly doubtful that we will ever return to this place.
Such a lovely place for our ladies lunch. So New England and nicely decorated for the Holidays! Everyone loved their food. The drinks were good and the service was wonderful. One of the ladies ordered the steak sandwich and said it was the best steak sandwich she ever had. This will be a wonderful spot for a special occasion - large or small. Can't wait to go back. We were all delighted with the Copper Beech Inn!
I proposed to my wife 25 years ago at this restaurant and decided to have our 25th anniversary dinner there. We ordered a bottle of wine and two entrees, sea bass and halibut. The sea bass was cooked to the correct temperature but the halibut was severely overcooked and not eatable. I ate the broth and clams from the Halibut dish but left the fish. The waiter asked about our meal and I told him the fish was overcooked. He said he would tell the chef. No one came to the table to adjust the bill or apologize or offer to reconcile the situation. Upon leaving, there was no one at the podium, no one said good evening or thanks for your patronage. We were very disappointed, would not recommend the restaurant to our friends and would never return for another meal.
Seated promptly when we arrived just a couple of minutes before our reservation (and the restaurant was very busy so kudos to the folks who figure out timing for seatings). Shared a crab cake appetizer which was large enough for the two of us as it was two smallish crab cakes. Nice flavor. I had the salmon and it was excellent! Husband had one of the specials, the short ribs and he thought it was very good. No dessert. Nice wine list. Timing was good; in the reservation I had noted we had theater tickets for 8:00 and we were out of there in good time.
Dinner was outstanding. The main dining room is lovely and spacious, wait staff was attentive and professional - made you feel like you were their only interest that evening - very relaxing! The diver scallops with risotto was wonderful, and my husband raved about the short rib with polenta.
I have to admit I was very disappointed. I had not been to the Copper Beach Inn in years; we used to visit all the time for a special occasion. We would sit in the dining room. The service used to be very good and more upscale. It was truly a special occasion restaurant. We recently visited on a Sunday afternoon for my grandmothers 90th birthday. The main dining room was closed so we sat on the terrace. I felt badly because we wanted to make it special for her but it was very average. The menu was limited, the atmosphere was cold, the food was underwhelming. It is just not what it used to be.
We spent the weekend at the Inn for our 25th wedding anniversary. Enjoyed two very nice dinners there as well as breakfast both days. Most of the service was great, food was amazing. Way better than what we thought it would be. The lemon pancakes were soooo good. We also really enjoyed the hanger steak and the wiener schnitzel. We are definitely going to return to this quaint little Inn. Loved it there :)
This was our first time at this restaurant and it was wonderful. This place is very clean and so comfortable inside. I love the big fireplace as you walk in and the comfy old inn feeling. Beautiful gardens outside too. The food is outstanding, great wine list, and the service was perfect. It was a pleasure to talk to the owner as he stopped by every table. We are very picky with our martinis but the bartender was spot on with them. Thanks for making it a great night. We are coming back next week!
Perfection! we had out-of-town guests and wanted to take them to a classic Connecticut but Foodie experience. The Copper Beach Inn gets High Marks on all fronts.
We were a little nervous to try it with guests, being that it was so bad in the past, but we heard a new chef was worth a try. Yes! We will be back soon for ourselves to try more dishes on the vast menu. Bon Appetite !
