About this restaurant

  • Neighborhood gem
  • Good for special occasions
  • Lively
The Cookery was founded by Chef David DiBari. Comfortably located in Dobbs Ferry, one of Westchester’s quaintest and most beautiful river towns, The Cookery has embraced the positive energy exchanged from its local patrons and uses it to fuel the quest for great food and ceaseless creativity. The neo-nostalgic Italian menu proves evident of Chef DiBari’s style of cooking, which is to progressively approach simplicity.

The food at The Cookery was oustanding. I had a kale salad and branzino. We went on a Saturday night and the noise level was horrific. I and my friend are elderly and, at first, we tried yelling at each other over the din. Finally, we sat there and did not try to talk. I would go to this restaurant on a weekday night. The service was slow, but that is understandable since every seat in the restaurant was filled. My advice, at least for someone who wants a quiet evening, avoid the weekend at this restaurant that has wonderful food.

An OK restaurant, food was interesting though a little bland in the end. Our service person was great, but the way they "protect"their entrance is a little odd.

One of the greatest neighborhood restaurants around that serves unusual delicious Italian themed food. The must goes are the meatballs as an appetizer, the pork osso bucco, which is my favorite and the various pasta specials that you won’t find anywhere else. I love sitting at the bar to eat because the bartender there Luna is just a classy guy who to dinner with, and my wife loves it there too

Eating at The Cookery is more than a meal it’s an experience. Each time I go I find something new and the classics are consistent and so delicious. My favorite item is the duck liver cannoli and the meatballs. We had the special of the day, cauliflower ravioli with browned butter and it blew us away! The service is friendly and professional and the atmosphere feels like you’re eating at your best friend’s house.

Everything about The Cookery was fantastic. Started with a spicy margarita which was excellent for a warm spring night. We shared the spiedini appetizer special which was very good, but the lamb bolognese was off the charts. If you are in the Dobbs Ferry area, run don't walk!

We had a very subpar experience at the Cookery. We were excited to try it after hearing so many great things. Having lived in Chicago for many years, we were blessed to be surrounded by amazing restaurants (both mom and pop and Michelin starred fine dining). The waitress started the whole experience off on a sour note. She couldn’t even pretend to be pleasant or smile and just seemed annoyed to have to wait on us. We arrived for Sunday brunch with our kids and did not realize it was a three course set menu. We decided to go with the flow and try it nonetheless. The food simply was disappointing. My husband’s purgatory eggs came out with bread that was so burnt to be blackened. He couldn’t believe the kitchen sent the dish out this way. My son ordered his burger medium and it was well- done. So disappointing because how hard is it to cook a burger medium? The fried chicken was better but also overcooked. We would have let the waitress know but the food took FOREVER to arrive so we didn’t want to have to wait another hour for the food to come out correctly. At that point we just wanted to leave as quickly as possible and forget the whole experience. The only positives: my sangria was nice and my son said the meatball app and lemon cannolis were good. This was such a disappointing experience. Two hundred dollars down the drain.
