Very nice brunch menu
Always good never had a bad meal great experience
Excellent service and excellent food. A must have!
The wait staff was very attentive and knowledgeable about the menu. The pasta and broccoli rabe was too al dente for my taste but taste. The braised oxtail was delicious. Kind of pricey for a small town like Dobbs Ferry but I would try it again.
While a bite more casual than I expected, the food was amazing and the wine was great. I think turning down the music can create a cozier, more elevated dining experience but I do overall like the location and decor. Food. Is. AMAZING!
Great food fun vibes great service.
I enjoyed the food and the ambiance here, however the prices were insane! I ordered the bone marrow cavatelli and it was delicious, rich and savory, more for an adventurous diner; I am not a fan of the fatty, congealed texture of the actual bone marrow "meat." The other diner in my party ordered a tasty ravioli special with red pepper sauce, which was fabulous but at $19 for 7 medium sized ravioli, this was quite a disappointment! Bread appetizer was good, fairly priced and the donut appetizer was okay, nice flavors, the pork meat was a little dry. The dining room is small and it was packed, we were seated at a center table but it didn't feel too tight or claustrophobic. Service was good. The parking is lackluster. Overall a decent experience, but the prices are too insane per serving size.
Only one complaint by the time I got my anisette the espresso was cold.
It was really nice - we enjoyed everything!
We enjoyed it very much, food was great all except paying for 3 small pieces of bread, the service staff was terrific.
The best brunch in Westchester no question. Come hungry!
Birthday dinner party! We ordered the Pig Dinner and it was amazing!!!
The meatballs lived up to the rave reviews and the pasta was outstanding. A little loud - not sure they need to play music in the background - but a small complaint. Terrific restaurant - definitely returning.
The Cookery is always great. There is something new to try every time we go - every dish is creative and delicious. The waiters and staff are very professional and attentive. The owner obviously puts in 100% effort all the time. You can’t go wrong with any of his restaurants
Awesome . No better restaurant in Westchester
Food was great and service was also really great. The waitstaff is knowledgeable and attentive but gives you space and lets you enjoy. A great experience!
I heard a lot of great things about this restaurant and was disappointed with the brunch. I decided to bring my food home and the waitress dropped my chicken when boxing it and they had to make me a new one which was undercooked and not good at all. Overall not a great experience.
First time visiting The Cookery and it lived up to our expectations! Had the meatballs and crostini for apps, and osso bucco (sp?) and radiatore pasta for dinner. All items were fantastic--especially the osso bucco!
1. Food was well prepared. Some appetizers were uninspired.
2. We were not seated until 30 minutes after our reservation time.
3. I think that its the only restaurant that I've been to where they charged for bread as a appetizer. Four people - we received a cold, "toasted", very small chibata cut into (4) pieces with a green-tinted butter concoction with no discernible taste. Not a good start.
4. Noise level was unacceptable. All hard surfaces. I guess someone in the kitchen likes loud mediocre white pop-music from the 80's, or they think that they're targeting the likely customer demographic. Polenta does not go well with Metallica. No table clothes.
5. Service was "casual", in other words the waitress handed us our plates instead of placing them on the table.
5. It may not be very sporting of me, but I don't think multiple large screen TV monitors with football games on add to the fine dining experience.
6. Wine selection very limited, and our particular $84 choice of a Californina cabernet was not well chosen.
6. Generally overpriced.
Good meal, it was loud but good energy and we’d go back.
Great overall first time experience
Unusual menu that got me out of my comfort zone and I was glad it did. The only issue was noise level which made conversions a bit of a problem for our group of six.
The noise/music level was painful. My ears were ringing for sometime after we left. Talking at dinner was impossible. No matter how good the food, it could not make of for the discomfort of the cacophony.
Food excellent. Music too loud to carry on a conversation
It was our second time at the restaurant, the first time the food was great so we decided to go back, this time my husband's pasta ( special of day) was too spicy and fishy and my ossobuco was too dry and tasteless.
Amazing food and service from start to finish! Cannot wait to return.
Did not like the fact that you could not substitute broccoli Rob. Nelson and everything you want it you have to pay extra for that my cuppa tea
We loved it the first time, so we came back with friends.... We all had a fabulous meal and can't wait to come back for more!
Food was absolutely delicious & the service was great & our waitress was super friendly
The food is great but some of the pasta dishes have too much salt. Need to dial back the salt on some of the dishes. Too much salt is a turn off. You can always add salt.
Pretty good food but not worth the hype or the attitude the restaurant and servers have.
I chose to come here (our third visit) for my birthday, and as always, it lived up to my expectations (and then some)! The food was amazing (bread and butter, meatballs, pasta with bone marrow, Bolognese pasta) and I was thrilled to see the chocolate polenta back on the dessert menu. The atmosphere was cozy and cool, the wine was great, and it was a perfect evening.
The Cookery never ceases to amaze me. I thoroughly enjoyed the Hake Fish special that was served with a Squid Ink reduction and sauteed Broccoli Rabe. Truly outstanding. The service was impeccable and my cocktail was smooth. This spot is a regular for me and my husband; we will definitely be back!
I’ve driven over an hour to several times to come here. Food, drinks and service are outstanding.
Delicious food. As they say, “eat serious”. Portions are just right. Some of the best pasta ever. Also fascinating food combos.
I made a reservation over a month in advance for a birthday celebration thanksgiving weekend. The ambiance of the place wasn’t as great as I expected because I have read so many great reviews over the years. They put us close to the kitchen by a window that was not closed properly and it was 27 degrees outside! I didn’t love the table location to begin with, but being that we would have had to eat with our coats on ( we lifted the blinds to see the window could not close properly and they had jammed napkins in the crack) I asked to move to a different location. It was much better once we moved but I was slightly turned off that they would attempt to put us in such a lousy location when I had made a reservation well in advance for the celebration. The food was good but not the best I’ve had in Westchester. The mozzarella appetizer and the meatballs were great. The main courses weren’t as good as the Appetizers. My daughter had the fish special and said it was too salty. The spicy margarita was delicious. Our waitress was terrific. Overall, It was a nice night but not worth the 35 minute drive to get there.
Steak was bad!
Appetizers were alright.
server thought she was too cool.
Love the Cookery and have been dining there since they opened many years ago. Sometimes we will have the specials, but sometimes we just have to stick to that old standby - pork osso buco. Just cannot get enough of it. And the cocktails are delicious.
By far one of the best restaurant experiences I've had this year. Atmosphere is amazing... staff and service are top notch, personable and knowledgeable. Wanted our server to sit down and join us she was so much fun. Everything from the cocktails thru dessert was unbelievable - with an amazingly diverse combination of tastes and ingredients that made you want to try everything on the menu. Each bite was more rewarding than the last. As we were leaving a large group next to us was being a whole roasted suckling pig dinner... can't wait to try that one myself. One of my all time favorite restaurants now - can't wait to bring others to experience the wonders of the Cookery!
