Had a 7pm reservation. Wasn't seated until 7:15. Waitstaff didn't come to the table for another 10 mins. If you are going to be busy, don't take the reservation.
Great food & awesome service! Great high chairs :)
Scotch eggs are the bomb
Delicious food, outstanding service, the cocktail descriptions are entertaining, best cocktail I have ever had. It is pretty pricey but for a once-in-a-while date night, totally worth it. Highly recommend to ALL of my friends and family.
Great food! The roasted cauliflower appetizer did not disappoint. Steak was also delicious.
We liked the diverse menu and tap beer selections . Food was excellent.
Everyone in our party thoroughly enjoyed our lunch. Several of our attendees raved how good their salads and fish were.
Sunday brunch. Ordered the omlet, which was perfect. Great service. Loved the entire setting/ atmosphere. Considering the atmosphere and high end quality of food, price was less than I expected. Will go back again.
Our food was very good but the service from Alexis was exceptional. She was especially attentive and conversant and made our breakfast very memorable.
We've been to the Commoner twice now and both trips were absolutely great. Once my husband and I went alone and enjoyed a great meal. (but we're pretty easy solo..) The true test came when we took my two young sons, my father and his wife for a birthday dinner. The food was still great, drinks perfect and the service was great. Solid experience.
Brunch was great! We had the burger and 2 eggs with English muffins. It was on point!! Also the nitro brew kona coffee!
Didn’t get change to reservation. Food was cold. Server disappeared for long periods of time. Had to ask three times for coffee. Portions pretty meager. Don’t think I’ll go back not good value for the food served. Pricey not a lot of selection . Overpriced
Dinner was delicious. I did feel a little rushed to place my order and clear the table. Overall though I was very pleased.
We had brunch at The Commoner. It was very yummy. I had the crab Benedict and it was delish! My boyfriend has the Y’inz Need Breakfast which was also very good. The highlight of the food were the English muffins. The only criticism is the price of the brunch cocktails. They’re nearly as expensive as the brunch entrees 16 vs 19 dollars.
Cool relaxed ambiance. We went there for Saturday brunch and everything was very tasty. Others at our table had the French toast with berries that looked especially delicious.
Great place. Disappointing server. No personality. Was impatient and not friendly.
Had brunch with my 14 yo granddaughter prior to a Pirate game. It was wonderful!
Excellent choice in downtown Pittsburgh. We will be back on our next visit to the Iron City.
Was in town visiting for the first time we where told about the commoner and we where so happy we went, food was amazing and the drinks where awesome.
Remarkably great food for a restaurant we found in the bottom floor of our hotel (we stayed 3 very nice nites at the Monaco Kimpton). Wonderful peach salad, steak tartare and an entree of chicken-fried scallops! Really well done, fair price w/ great cocktails.
Our waiter Matt was terrific & we had great food & drinks! Always a good time!
The Bloody Mary bar is so cool. Many options, garnishes, and options for different taste buds. The food was delicious, team was friendly and efficient.
Sat at the bar. Had a good discussion with the bartender about beverages and food. Enjoyed the vibe
Vacation- staying at hotel.
Varied menu, all our meals were well prepared and tasty.
We went before the Rod Stewart concert. The server was knowledgeable. We liked the fancy cocktails. I had the octopus special and it was outstanding. Near place and we we go here again.
My husband and I came here for breakfast two days in a row, and we were pleased with the menu, both for food and drinks. We ended up both getting the bloody mary bar, and we were in LOVE! The options and freshness were outstanding, and we both agree that it was the best bloody mary we have ever had. The fact that you got to choose flavor-infused vodka (we went with bacon), as well as a variety of fresh herbs, different spices/sauces, pickled veggies, and mini-sandwiches and pancakes was amazing. Our food for breakfast was also out of this world! We both ordered the perogies and poached eggs, and the creativeness, yet comfort of this dish was excellent. I also ordered overnight oats the second morning and was very pleased with the quality of the overall dish, as well as the freshness of the fruit and ingredients. Both our servers were sweethearts and attentive, and the ambiance and overall experience was great. Definitely would recommend to anyone!
Our waiter was NOT friendly at all. No friendly skills what so ever. Hugely disappointed as well as a homeless woman came in and began begging us for money. I feel for the homeless but clearly the hosts don’t watch the door and keep people out that are begging for money. Very very disappointed
This was my first time here and I absolutely loved it! The food was fantastic and the atmosphere was so relaxing. I had friends in from out of town and they said it was a great first impression of Pittsburgh!
Food was good, but nothing to write home about. Service was acceptable, but not excellent. Price point for the meal was higher than it should have been. However, the lasting impression left was the noise. With zero sound dampening material present, the ambient volume made conversation across the table a chore.
Meal was very nice, food was great! Entrance off strawberry way was a little confusing!
We met at The Commoner before going to a concert - there were others there who were also attending but service was great and we were attended to in a timely manner. Overall great experience!
I went for brunch/breakfast. The food was all very good and fresh. The service was excellent.
Great food and drinks! We had the "green eggs and ham" Scotch egg and the wild mushroom "cigar" (savory pastry) for appetizers. For entrees, we had the chicken-fried scallops and the lobster bisque. The chicken-fried scallops were wrapped in crispy chicken skin instead of a breading - very unique and also delicious! To drink, I had two sour beers called "blueberry boyfriend" and "pink guava funk." All food and drinks were very good! We live in New York and would definitely come back again the next time that we are in the area.
Drinks, appetizer, and both of our dinners were fantastic. We've eaten at the commoner a few times before, but this meal truly surpassed our expectations.
Great food, service was perfect. And drinks were tasty.
To begin, the cocktails are incredibly original and tasty - but pricey! After a horrendous Anniversary dinner at the Terrace Room the night before, we were so pleasantly surprised by this restaurant. Everything we had was terrific. We enjoyed some cocktails then appetizers of pork belly and lobster bisque. The lobster bisque is the real deal - no flour thickened mess here - it was the deep color and had the consistency a bisque is supposed to have with plenty of lobster and was served with a wheel of puff pastry. We were trying to eat light and had decided on The Commoner Burger for our entree and it was the best burger I have had in ages - served with REAL, FRESH horseradish cream. To top it off, we had the Sticky Toffee Pudding which was excellent and rarely seen on menus outside Gordon Ramsay's restaurants. I highly recommend this restaurant for a casual or gourmet meal and you do not have to be dressed to the nines to enjoy it, so feel free to go on the spur of the moment.
Underwhelmed by the food & service. Our server brought out a shared salad with our entrees, which I expect at a place like Waffle House (not hating, love Waffle House!), but not at a fine dining establishment such as The Commoner. Was let down. Space is gorgeous though!
Not a complicated menu but full of creative dishes, extremely well-prepared and tasty. Informed, attentive waitstaff.
Excellent all around. The dessert - a pineapple cake was gorgeous and delicious!
