Pork chop was under cooked was replaced, the original sat in the window for 20 minutes. Our server was atrocious, unresponsive and uncaring. For people with hearing issues this place is over the top loud. We asked If dessert would take long as he had plans at the theater.
Our waitress said it shouldn't take that long only to have as wait an additional 10 minutes to tell us we could not have the cheesecake as there was no more. At this point everyone was upset we didn't want it they manage her compte as 50% off her bill And invited us to come back. We won't be back. Overpriced and major attitudes. The host stand was rather obnoxious as well. I feel bad for the kitchen staff as they seemed to be hustling.
Excellent meal. Enjoyed conversation. Private label wine was a bit pricey and average taste.
Good food but way too noisy to have convesation with the folks at you table.
Creative menu prepared exceptionally well.
Attentive and responsive staff.
What more is needed ?
went there for thanksgiving. The turkey was moist and delicious. Best pumpkin pie Ive ever had! Staff was attentive and friendly.
Sat at bar and had dinner and drinks. Nice service. Over priced special drinks. Third time at Commoner Will Come again.
We went to the Commoner for breakfast. The fruit and omelet were excellent. However, the home fried potatoes were not edible - overcooked, dry and tasteless; of which we were given large quantities. The waitress was curt with all communication. It was also overpriced, we spent more on this breakfast than we did at dinner the night before at a popular restaurant in the strip.
Great meal and great location. Service was excellent. I like that the menu has fewer choices than other restaurants since that means what they do, they do it right.
Went for breakfast after light up night as we stayed at Hotel Monaco. Always very good and service is always great. Food is some of the best in the Burgh and a great restaurant and atmosphere.
Chicken Pt pie and salmon very good
Terrific restaurant. Fun retro style with open kitchen line to watch cooking. Low noise level which is awesome. Easy access and close parking. Food was creative and very tasty. Quick turn around time.
Brunch was awesome! Libby was very patient while we enjoyed our girls’ brunch. We got three entrees and split them which was perfect because there was too many options! Def will be back for brunch!
A very nice selection on the menu, with some very creative and even humorous cocktails (try the Penicillin, complete with scotch syringe), and well presented food. The interior decor is stylish and comfortably open - didn't feel packed in like some restaurants.
Food continues to be bad. The chef tries to combine too many odd seasonings.
We had a 4:30 reservation and was told they don’t star serving off the dinner menu until 5:00. That would have been nice to know (when I made the reservation) as we were looking to eat an early dinner before a sporting event. The wait staff was unwilling to accommodate.
Food was fine but not a very broad menu. Minimal options and given that we had young teenagers it was less than ideal. They didn’t have a table ready for us and pretty much felt as though we were just hurried along to make way for the dinner crowd.
I wish I had chosen a different restaurant.
Food was very good, great beer selection wine selection a little lite. Asked for a high end Cab by the glass that they were out of so they replaced it with something else. Never asked how it was (was not good) and charged me for the higher price. They were slammed though for a mid week concert and I was a table of one so can’t be too critical. Watched the back of the house closely and was impressed with the product they put out. I will certainly go again.
We went before the Elton John concert and they were very slow and unprepared.
We got the food 2 minutes before we had to leave, the fried chicken was alright but the corn bread and slaw were terrible.
First time in Pittsburgh and visited The Commoner before a concert. Would recommend. The cocktails were fun and interesting and so was the food.
Great location and ambiance. Food was delicious too.
Waitress very slow - actually she left right after serving drinks and sometime later another waitress took over - Food was good, atmosphere was pleasant, Drinks (wine/martini’s) were overpriced for setting - Had a hamburger, 18.95 my wife had salmon 28.00 and our bill was $188.00 with tip - For app. $200 bill lots of other upscale restaurants to choose
Seating was comfortable. Service was great. The specialty cocktails were truly unique and delicious. We will surely return soon
We ordered the lamb burgers and asked for them to be medium and they were well done and dry.
Best ham Benedict I’ve had. Food is delicious, staff is friendly.
Our server was not attentive at all. He seemed annoyed that I ordered my burger well done even though he recommended it only cooked at medium. Our server did not bring out our food, that wasn't a problem but, he never came over to ask how everything was or give drink refills. It wasn't even busy. He wanted my friend and me to split the bill evenly down the middle even though I ordered a more expensive meal and a drink. I can honestly say that this place is a bit overrated.
Overall it was okay but the fried chicken sandwich was way over cooked. Barely edible.
Sunday brunch with family after a wedding weekend. Fabulous Bloody Mary bar!
The Commoner is our restaurant of choice every time we go to dinner in Downtown Pittsburgh. Prices are reasonable and the food is fantastic. We love the atmosphere, as well.
Our waitress was very nice. But everything including drinks took 20-30 minutes to get. Our reservation was at 8. We were seated immediately.. food was delicious. Drinks were nice but really pricey. $15 for a drink in a short glass...
The atmosphere is rustic/cozy with the exposed kitchen/pizza oven. The service was great with suggestions for drinks and the meal. It was an easy walk from the hotel, so great location.
Good steak tartare w toast/mustard.
The Commoner is always a great choice for ambience and service. The food is delicious but certainly overpriced.
loved the pierogi and egg brunch dish.....generous and tasty
It was on the later end of a busy Saturday night, but the wait for our food was extreme. The brined chicken was extremely salty, but it WAS brined, so I suppose I should have expected it. Credit to our server for warning us about the wait at the time we placed our order.
Considerable delay in getting our entre on time. The waiter Aimee was really sweet and offered us dessert on the house.
Great food as usual! Kitchen seems backed up and food took longer than normal, but server was friendly and accommodating.
Went on a concert night @ PPG and thus crowded. Beverage cost were a little on the high side. We ordered a Charcuterie board and took quite awhile to have it come out. When we did receive it, it was a mess, basically everything just throw on a plate, very poor presentation. The server did push for our entree's so we could make the concert on time. The entree's were good but not great. I had the Lamb Pot Pie and my wife had Scallops. Overall experience was ok, but there are better choices for dining downtown.
It was my first time here. Was not impressed at all. My food was so salty, I could not even eat it. Waitress did not bring the correct cocktail drink that I ordered. Desert was awful!
The acoustics aren't great but the food and service is fantastic!!!
Love the atmosphere here and very unique drink options and rotating food menu. Always a good time at happy hour or for a good meal.
We made reservations at 6 to eat before seeing a show at PPG Paints arena at 7:30. We told our server we were trying to make the show, and he let us know that the kitchen was backed up and suggested some food that had a better chance of coming out quicker. We basically all ordered salads and soup, but by 7:15 our food was still not out. We asked if it could be boxed to go, but even that took too long. The manager comped our drinks and we left with no food, starving, and missed the opening number of the show.
