The food is always amazing and the desserts are so worth the calories. Highly recommend!
The restaurant has been part of our family memories for years. Having another celebration in our family was the reason for our recent dinner. Our 33 year insisted we go to The Colosseum because it has marked so many of our previous celebrations in our family! Once again, are were pleased to say, we all were satisfied we chose to return!
Thank you !
Good food and good service
Very disappointing. Went for Valentine's Day weekend. Very slow service. No waiter came to our table for 20 minutes. Ultimately the host took our order and waited on our table. If you're looking for Italian food, find another spot. Maybe this passes for Italian food in Salem, NH - but the sauce was orange with a hint of Chef Boyardee. I ordered the Chicken Parm, which should have been a safe dish. I have never seen a piece of chicken pounded so thin - practically transparent. On a positive note, the bread was good, but the peel open butter pats.... wow. Never again.
Great food, excellence menu offerings all at a reasonable price
The food was great and the place was quiet. We were there for a business meal and the prices are very reasonable with huge portions. Everyone in our group had a great meal, drinks, and cake. Would recommend and definitely will be back again.
We took our daughter to celebrate her birthday and also our anniversary. It was a little chaotic during the seating process but luckily we had reservations and waited only about 30 minutes. It was very busy so of course we could understand the short delay.
The food is amazing, all 3 of us loved our meals. The dessert selection was excellent.
Quiet setting for pleasant conversation. Enjoyed a favorite dish not available a many Italian restaurants. Service was excellent.
Exciting menu poorly executed. Service was an issue as was attention the diners in my party. Thusly it was overpriced for average food.
As expected. Our favorite server, Pal, has retired.
A bit pricey. Good food. Portions fair. Excellent service. Parking easy
We had a wonderful family dinner here. We hadn’t been in over a year, I’m glad we went back! I actually think they’ve improved overall.
We love the colosseum, go there often for lunch. It's inexpensive, great food, and close by. Very authentic southern Italian food. Can be slow at times but they cook to order.
We've been dining at the Colosseum for 25 years, since my daughter was 2 years old. The owner used to carry her around the restaurant to say hi to the other diners. We have always had great food there. I highly recommend it!
Southern Italian, well done. Appetizers, house specialty drinks, veal saltimbocca, veal piccatas all very good. The only puzzling aspect was their interpretation of tiramisu: a crunchy cookie buried under a soupy pudding... it tasted ok. it just wasn’t what we expected.
Great food and service
Our waiter was wonderful,on top of everything, food was great drinks were great
Had reservations for 6:30 but never got seated to 7:00 - let several other couples in before us because they knew them and were regular - not good business practice - waitress was worse - screw up order- had to ask for bread on table- poor customer service. Won’t go back
Very clean restaurant, service was very friendly, food was delicious, plenty of the off street parking, prices are average for the restaurant.
Service was great! Great atmosphere, loved the music and the people. Food killed the whole experience.
Excellent food and service. Wide ranging menu of both northern and southern Italian dishes. Extensive wine list. Owner/chef patrols the dining room occasionally. Ambiance is a negative, the place looks the same as it did ten years ago. Come here for the food.
Great food, the owner was there making sure that everyone was happy and satisfied. Friendly staff. Had entertainment on that night which was very enjoyable.
I have never had a bad meal here. My family and I have been dining at Colosseum for 30 years. One of their strengths? The owner and his wife are visible throughout the evening, making sure everyone is happy. The Tedescos are wonderful people. Kudos to them!
Very comfortable restaurant, good selection of food & did not rush us as we were celebrating special ocassion. However, the Veal caccitore did not include good portion of veal which was dissapointing
I was very disappointed in the food. Furthermore, our waiter was very sweaty when he was making the caesar salad at the table and he kept making grunting noises while mixing the dressing. It was weird and gross. The pasta was mushy and had little taste. I will not be back.
Our server seemed to have too many tables and unfortunately we suffered due to it. The food is cooked to order and worth the wait but the time to get salads, drinks, refills, clear plates, dessert and coffee is all on the server 2-1/2 hours for dinner for 3 when we weren't camping is ridiculous. I was cancelling the dessert order and asking for the check when the owner offered free dessert and a round of limoncello but I expected better from the Colosseum. Kind of disappointing.
The food was great. The seafood stuff mushroom were very, very tasty! The Veal Colosseum was a real delicious meal. Could not stop eating it!!
I went with friends for a Sunday lunch. There was only 1 -2 other tables occupied. The waitress rushed us to order not giving me enough time to even look at the menu. I felt pressured to order my meal. Bread was brought to the table and it was brought as requested. Upon receiving our bill, they charged us for the oil. When questioned, we were told it was the policy. I asked to speak with the Manager and the hostess came to the table. I explained to her that I frequent Italian restaurants on a regular basis and have never been charged for oil. She stated that was their policy due to the fact the olive oil was expensive? This restaurant served basic Italian food at a premium price (the menu on Open Table showed the low priced entrees) then to charge us for oil - ridiculous - you can find any number of Italian restaurants in the area that serve equally basic grade food and DO NOT charge for the dipping oil!
Table size Caesar is delicious!
The food is impeccable.
my family joined for dinner and was looking forward to an authentic Italian dinner and ambiance. Unfortunately the quality of the food was sub-par, especially for the price. The chicken and veal was overlooked and dry, and the sauce tasted as if it was from a can (chefboyardee like). I'm hoping this was just an off day because this restaurant has been a part of the community for years.
My husband and I have been going to the Colosseum since we moved to New Hampshire years ago. We love the atmosphere and the service is wonderful! As far as I'm concerned, you all serve the best Italian food - delicious!
Hands down some of the best Italian food I have ever had. Our waiter was extremely knowledgeable about the wine and our dining companions enjoyed his recommendations. He explained in detail the menu and our questions. The food was served in a prompt manner and it was hot. Our appetizers were delighted and could have made a meal from all the choices offered. Over it was a great night out and I enjoyed my meal twice as the portions are generous.
Amazing as always. Paul our waiter is the best. Knowledgeable and fun to talk with. Pasta is fresh. Almost everything on the menu can be made gluten free with a little notice.
We went to the Colosseum for the first time this past Saturday night. I had 2 teenage daughters and my husband and everyone loved the food. We will definitely be back!!!
I would highly recommend The Colosseum to anyone! Our waiter Paul D. was wonderful ! He chatted us up and was very friendly. Of course the food was delicious! I always enjoy dining at The Colosseum!
Great alternative to North End
I've never had a bad meal in the 30+ years I've been going there. The owners are wonderful, and make a point of being there every weekend. They walk around and make sure everyone is happy. Very authentic, Italian food.
Service was obviously under staffed, wasn't that busy but was slow.
Great Mother's Day meal and well worth the price. One if the best restaurants in the Merrimack Valley.
Very busy on Sat nights. Too forever to get food and drinks.
