The Colosseum Restaurant
Once we we're seated, we had a wonderful dinning experience. Service and food was great. It was the hall hour past our reservation time that was disappointing and we almost left.
Been going here for years , it has definitely gone down hill .
Food was excellent , service was slow it took over 20 minutes for someone to come to our table and that’s was because I reach out to an employee, after that the gentleman that waited on us was very nice and attentive
A wonderful place to sit down and have a great meal i will definitely be back
We have always had great food at the Colosseum. Valentines night it was packed. But our waiter was attentive and service was prompt. Our water glasses were continuously refilled and we had a nice evening. I would recommend the Colosseum. Try the eggplant rolotini! Out of this world!
Wait staff was very friendly (almost too much where it seemed forced) but there were just too many little things to make me not want to return.
The butter served was the bread was straight from the fridge. Soft bread served with rock hard cold, unspreadable butter is infuriating.
The dinner was on Valentines Day, a Thursday which was “martini night” on the drink menu where it says martinis are $6 on thursdays... but well liquors only. So when we order martinis from the same page, I wondered if they were going to ask well liquors or not. No option was given, and sure enough our 3 martinis cost over $30 so I don’t even know what martini night is.
My girlfriend ordered Chicken Colisseum with the home made gemelli. It came with fettuccini which she sent back. I ordered the Chicken Parm which I thought said came with meat sauce, though I admit I could be completely wrong. It came with a plain tomato sauce which I would’ve preferred with chicken parm to begin with, but it was so bland and without any body or real flavor. I hate to admit it, but it almost reminded me with what comes with Spaghetti-o’s.
Lastly, between getting the check and the time the waitress picked it up, over 15 minutes passed. I had the card in there within 1 minute. And we just sat there... for 15 minutes with my card hanging off the edge of the table.
Not to be nit picky, but not one aspect of that dinner was done correctly, though overall the experience was “ok”.
First time there-Service was awful, we're there for 35 minutes and nobody had come over, we had to ask for service. To get a drink took forever and for a second round, 2 drinks never made it to the table but made it on the bill. They mixed up the food orders, and took 20 minutes to sort of fix it, and still wasn't right; one order never made it to the table. The pasta dish wasn't bad but the rest was frozen or tasted badly. I know Italian food and there is only imitation Italian here. We had a large party but the service seemed disinterested in us. Will never take my friends/family there again. .
Terrible service and food! Totally disappointed. Won't ever go back.
Amazing service, food and ambiance... We had a business meeting of 8 people; everyone loved the food and drinks. It was perfect!
Awesome food went for our anniversary. The mozzerella stick was not that great but everything else outstanding.
Our waiter was hard to find and seemed dis-interested in my party of three. The food is good, so I will not say that we will never go back, but our waiter, Raphael could use some people skills.
Entrees were excellent, taste, price and portion were appreciated. Appetizers, not so much. We were all looking forward to having calamari, we were extremely disappointed. This was like frozen from a bag from Shaws and thrown in the oven for ten minutes. I expect a great plate of Calamari from an italian restaraunt.
While our server was pleasant and gave strong suggestions on meals, he was very slow to get bread out to us. We enjoyed the dinner and were happy with our overall experience there were aspects that could have been better.
First visit here. The waiter was very polite, but not very detail-oriented. He forgot to bring bread before the meals and never asked if we needed more drinks. We split the check between two credit cards, and he misplaced one. When we told him, he apologized and said he'd go find it. But, rather than doing that right away, he headed across the room to help pack another table's doggie bag! I wanted to shout, "Hey dude, go find my card NOW!"
Food was good, but not spectacular. For my frutti de mare, the lobster was chewy, linguine was a bit too soft for me, and marinara was a bit bland. My wife loved her eggplant parm, and friends thought chicken parm and chicken picatta was pretty good. I'll go there again.
My family really enjoys it here. You feel like family , our meals were so delicious!
Get the chicken parm with some of their homemade pasta. You can not go wrong and will have enough food for leftovers.
My dessert was stale food wasn’t worth the money staff was great.
We continue to enjoy The Colosseum, Salem, NH. Our server was Aidan H. He was excellent, friendly and polite! The food was delicious as usual. I would highly recommend The Colosseum and Aidan to anyone.
We went to The Colosseum Restaurant for a date night one Saturday. The restaurant was relatively quiet and our server was very attentive. The drinks were delicious and the food was excellent, too. The location was easy to find at the end of a shopping plaza. I would definitely consider this restaurant for a future date night.
Weird. We had a reservation for 5:30 and the place was empty. The "boss" didn't want to seat us until the rest of our party arrived. Two in our party ordered glasses of Sterling Sauvignon Blanc then when they wanted another glass, they were brought Fish Eye because the bar was out of Sterling. The server should have told the guests that the bar was out of Sterling and asked the guest for a choice of their own rather than just bringing the Fish Eye as there is no comparison between the two wines.
The rice balls and seafood stuffed mushrooms were good, but the entrees left a lot to be desired.
Something has changed at this restaurant and not for the better.
This place never ceases to amaze me. Food is very authentic Italian and all ingredients are so fresh. We have been going to this restaurant for about 25 years.
Excellent in many ways
Owner is always visible and engaging with the customers
Food is delicious
Excellent food in preparation, execution and taste. Server was above and beyond fantastic. Get here early as they get busy, and for good reason.
Very good food, very good for our group of 11, service was pretty slow but adequate. Wish maybe we had a second server but this place is really good and accommodating.
Make a point of eating here when in New Hampshire. The food is tasty and the service impeccable. They are very accommodating of everyone’s needs and never fail to make you feel special. They do a fantastic job.
Warm greeting on a cold night. Friendly waitress for our table. Lightening fast service after ordering.
Overall a very nice experience. Food was fantastic. Owner stopped by table to chat and see how things were. Waitress did a good job. A little busy where we sat, next to kitchen door. The only disappointment was that the staff did nothing to acknowledge our anniversary to try to make it special, such as a complimentary dessert.
Always a pleasure to visit the Colosseum. Food is great and authentic. The owner is always on hand and interested in being sure customers and operations are A plus.
Raphael our server was excellent. The food was delicious and arrived hot!! We never felt rushed at anytime.
Excellent food and service. The dessert....red velvet cake....was dry. Men's room was a mess. We will be back.
Food was fantastic and the service was excellent. We will definitely return for more.
The service was awful. We waited forever for the server to greet us and then we continued to wait for long periods of time for everything. The restaurant was only about 30 % full at the time of our arrival and it only became more empty as the night went on. We observed a couple arrive and be seated and they waited so long that they got up and left. Their menus that they left on their table were never picked up and the table was never rearranged. The staff was never on the floor unless they were delivering food or drinks. No one checked on the tables. We were served appetizers and salad and my husband needed a fork. We saw our waitress after 5 minutes of waiting and asked for a fork, she took off and returned 3 minutes later with my glass of wine but still did not have a fork for my husband. We asked her again and this time she took one from a clean table. I asked her why all of the service was so slow (she had apologized) and her excuse was that it was busy and it had been very busy earlier. Well, we had been there for over an hour and we had never seen it busy at all. A restaurant should never use, “busy” as an excuse. Restaurants on a Saturday nights are supposed to be busy! The staff is supposed to be able to work efficiently and perfectly when busy. The host and hostess were very nice upon our arrival however they just hung around and did not seem to notice or care when we were not getting any service. They didn’t notice that other couple, sitting and waiting to be greeted. The host left for the evening after about an hour and then the hostess sat down and had her dinner. A server stood at the front desk during this time. It seems that the staff is very unprofessional and does not care about the guests. There didn’t seem to be anyone in charge. As far as the food is concerned, it was mediocre/fair and a couple items were okay/good. The music playing was not appropriate for a restaurant. It was too upbeat for dinner.
We felt a little rushed in ordering apps and meal (waitress was new). Had to ask for lemon for my water four times before it arrived. Food was ok but wished there were more grilled (fish) offerings for people who don’t want pasta with every protein. The interior is a bit dated and the bathroom door could be cleaner. Had been a while since we were there and felt attention to details was lacking.
Excellent Italian food. Recommend it highly. Lovely waitress.
the manager let us try their homemade lemoncello it was amazing! the bartender and manager were very friendly and the food was delicious and the portions were huge. My husband loved it and coouldn't believe I had never suggested this place before!
Had not been back there in quite some time. A lot of competition in the area.
We were very pleased with food and will be back sooner in the future.
Had reservations but they were running behind so we decided to sit at the bar.
It was a good choice, service was great, bartender was really friendly and helpful.
We are very happy that we decided to go there and will be back again soon.
The restaurant was very busy and we were assigned a new waiter, and he was excellent.
Authentic and classic Italian food. Fresh ingredients means excellent flavors.
Sal is the best bartender
The meals were not as hot as hoped for, although the server and the hostess made our visit very comfortable . It seemed to be very quite for a Thursday night I thought it would be much more busy than what it was. Overall we enjoyed and most likely would go back some other time.
