Was very nice. Service was excellent staff was very kind.
It was just ok, nothing special. The staff was working hard, but there was too much chaos.
Our first time visiting the Drake Oakbrook and we had a great time I brought my mom to treat her to high tea and she was beyond thrilled with the experience. Very reminiscent of attending high tea in her youth.
Patricia was attending to us and she was sweet, informative and patient. Honestly she raised the ambiance and made us feel special.
We had requested no pork products and they accommodated to us without fuss.
You have a wonderful atmosphere. Yet the food is average and the choices are not of a great variety. It really is a shame. I think this is why you do not have a lot of patrons. Our server was very pleasant and attentive but you need to do something to add to the appeal of the dining experience.
It was a great experience for high tea.
Went to the Polo Lounge for our “date night” and enjoyed tasty small plates and delicious bourbon flavored beer. Added to our evening was live musical entertainment in the Polo lounge from the beautiful Diva Montel. It definitely made for a magical night out for both of us.
It was our first time having brunch at the Colonial. We loved the food selection, especially the desserts. Customer service was excellent. Our coats were taken care of. The staff were friendly and inviting.
We took our girls for high tea on Saturday but the room that it was supposed to be in had a private party, unbeknownst to us. So we were put in a sectioned off room with no ambiance or holiday spirit...very disappointing.
I suppose beggars-Thanksgiving reservation made the day before for 8-can't be choosers, and this proved it. Overcooked prime rib and leg of lamb, cheesecakes from Sam's Club, and very mediocre fare for $70/person. You people need to come down South and learn how to make stuffing...a loaf of Wonder bread chopped into pieces just doesn't make the grade, folks. Our server was nice and attentive. Maybe Chicagoans just have lower expectations.
The food was the best that I can recall in variety.
The service was Above and Beyond. Great personalities and handled a group so cordially. The food and Sangria were super delicious. We definitely recommend it 110%
First of all, The location of the restaurant is very poorly placed especially for this time of year. Every time the front door opens cold air can be felt in the restaurant because there were no doors to shield it off from the outside elements. The floor is uneven we noticed it when we walked in, but as we walk out my wife had forgotten about the uneven floor tripped and fell injuring her arm her neck and her leg. No one from the restaurant even knew what it happened. They were absent for long periods of time and you didn’t see anyone waiters, managers, no one. They brought you your meal and disappeared. The noise was so at such a high level you could not carry on a decent conversation at your table. I will not eat there again.
Service was good. Food was good. Atmosphere was weird. The restaurant is across from the bar and is not secluded. We were there on a Friday (7:30) night and It felt like we were at a wedding reception for a couple married in their late 60’s. The music coming from the bar was LOUD and it was (lol) not good. My wife said she felt like we were in Vegas - so if you like that sort of thing...
The food and service are always second to none! I’m already looking forward to my next visit!
The fare was a bit pricey for what we got, but we did have fun trying the various offerings.
It had good food, wine and service but was almost empty. It’s a shame more people don’t use this place.
another great meal..our waiter david cruz and crew ..fantastic..lucky enough to get same crew and table...we tried tuna tartar and shrimp cocktail to start tasty...then the chateaubriand for 2...folks this is worth the trip to try...cooked perfect...don't over look the cesar salad for 2 and desert sampler...will be back...
Overall very good.
Being only one of two tables occupied that night, was too quiet/dead. Though do not wish lots of noise, hustle/bustle, this was too much the opposite extreme
We enjoy the food, the service and the new look. We enjoy the Drake OakBrook, it’s always a pleasure to meet up with friends at The Drake.
The food and service were excellent. We were allowed to take our time and weren’t rushed. Everyone was very attentive and accommodating. I would definitely go back and highly recommend the Colonial Room.
Wow, how things have changed.
Many years ago we enjoyed this Sunday buffet. Since it has been awhile since we enjoyed the restaurant, we decided to have a nice brunch. We arrived a little early so we expected to wait. We walked in, and could not find the hostess, I went to the front desk and a very nice clerk walked us over and found the hostess. I was people watching and discovered that a dress code was no longer in force.
I saw younger men with the baseball hats turned around,Tee shirts, ripped jeans, children unaccompanied running around the dining room and then run into the lobby where the guests were treated to a piano recital by two of the misbehaving children.
Perhaps there should be an enforced dress code and if possible the staff could speak with the parents of the unruly children or maybe the parents who choose to share their children with other patrons should be charged for the children’s meals. This may discourage parents from bring their children into this type of environment.
The food was very good, the service was acceptable but the guests ruined our experience.
FIRST A SHOUT OUT TO DAVID CRUZ OUR WAITER..SERVICE WAS A 10 PLUS..MY WIFE AND I EAT OUT OFTEN AND THIS MEAL AND OVERALL EXPERIENCE WAS FANTASTIC.. SCALLOPS AND CRAB CAKE APPETIZER...CESAR SALAD FOR 2... SEA BASS AND SALMON..YUM..FOR THE RECORD THERE WAS 2 LARGE WEDDING GOING ON AND A FULL RESTAURANT AND BAR..SERVICE AND FOOD DID NOT SUFFER..THOSE WHO COMPLAINED ABOUT NOISE FROM THE BAR..WE THOUGHT IT MADE OUR DINNER THAT MUCH MORE SPECIAL..FELT LIKE WE WERE ON A CRUISE THE WAY EVERYTHING PLAYED OUT..TRY AN OLD FASHION AND A TOM COLLINS BOTH MADE WITH GREAT SKILL ..WILL RETURN SOON...
The food that was served at the High Tea was Not what I expected! The scones were the worst that I have ever had! There were no tea sandwiches and I was highly disappointed! We were told that none of the baked goods were made on the premises and they were not very good. The water for the tea was not even hot but just warm. I have been to quite a few teas and this was definitely the worst. What a waste of my money!
Food and service were outstanding. Just as they always are.
The service was wonderful the food was fantastic we had appetizers, salads, soups, entrées and desserts and everything was phenomenal
when i arrived i noticed groups are setting together however our Group was split in to 2 separate tables. I asked what happened and i was told "we only have round tables for 10 each for seating" i told the hostess how about the other groups setting together? and here response was they asked!!!WOW. fist time at the place and it was not my best experience. Disappointed with entire experience.
I hade to move the tables closer to each other by my self. Food was ok. Had better experience at other restaurants
I chose The Drake because I was looking for a quiet restaurant for a business luncheon. It certainly delivered! Excellent food and service. I will definitely be back.
Can’t wait to go again, Service was wonderful and the food was delicious. Great varieties of teas.
Beautiful room, impeccable service, excellent tapas! And fairly reasonable based on the dishes we ordered. The waitstaff was friendly and extremely accommodating. Will definitely return for Friday Tapas!
Absolute lovely experience at high tea. The food, teas and service was excellent! Will definitely return!
I would recommend with a caveat that enjoy the servicesand the food because the noise coming from the lounge which is located just steps away from the dining area, well you might as well gone to a concert and sat in the front row. We couldn’t hear one another without raising voices. There is no way dinner should be served past 8pm when the lounge starts filling up. The fact there is no sound barrier ie. between the tables and bar area isn’t an oversight, but deliberate and really an insult to paying customers. So go early and either migrate to lounge around 8, or go to another concert.
Absolutely delightful! The staff was great. Could not have asked for a better experience.
Music in bar too loud for dinner. General dining and bar area seemed cluttered, dark and there were used tablecloths and rags laying in tables. Very unimpressed.
Our ladies found the luncheon menu perfect. Great choice and ample amount of food beautifully prepared. The Baked Alaska was wonderful! I really enjoyed it! We are planning to have our Christmas Party there this year in the Colonial Room.I will make a reservation. The only little problem we found was that the waitress was busy taking care of other tables which caused a delay in getting food, coffee and dessert. No big deal! She was the only waitress there and more & more people came in. The servers were very efficient in replenishing water and coffee. All in all, it was a lovely afternoon in a beautiful setting.
There was construction going on in the lobby so it was very noisy most of the breakfast. The eggs did not taste good.
I booked the Drake for my parents 45th anniversary. They had a wonderful time and plan on going back next year! Thanks to the staff for making their evening so special.
Food choice was extremely limited for children compared to Mother’s Day buffet
Lunch and service was good. The hotel is under renovation and it is a distraction
