We had tapas. They were excellent and good value. Energetic bar across the hall; loud but not so loud that we could not talk. Service was very good. I was surprised there were not more customers in restaurant. I will go back to restaurant but also want to try the bar.

No atmosphere. Went for the Thursday night tapas. Food was just ok. No one was there and the atmosphere was zero. Would not return.

The food was very good with a nice variety. The service was very poor, with only 4-5 staff waiting on tables for the entire room of about 70 diners. No server appeared to be assigned to our table, and requests for several items had to be requested from several different staff members as they were walking by. I don’t mind paying an 18% tip when the service is great, but today it was a disappointment.

25 minutes to tell you - only after you flag someone down and ask - that they don’t have the chocolate ice cream that your daughter ordered. This place is awful. Do not go here.

This was a real find. Apparently this was formerly owned by the Drake Hotel, now under new ownership. The interior is cozy feeling, with a beautiful fireplace and nice decor. The service was perfection. David, our server, was well informed and friendly. The wine we ordered was currently out, so he brought us two other bottles and glasses to try. He was excellent. The food was marvelous. The shrimp cocktail was succulent and interesting, their risotto was perfection, steaks done perfectly as ordered, and a lovely moist falvorful salmon.

We had the chance to meet the new owners who were gracious and kind.

There was a band in the bar area who played, and there was dancing.

All in all, we felt quite happy with the experience and the meal.

If you want an elegant dinner with great food and great service, then the Colonial Room is the place! We went for my wife's birthday and had a table near their fireplace, which was fantastic and cozy. The service was very attentive and friendly and provided great recommendations for our selections. When we received our dinners, we were both amazed at the dishes...which were prepared and served piping hot and both were attractive and delicious. To pair with our dinner, we ordered a bottle of wine from their nice selection of wines. We especially like the attention to the details from our waiter (David) and the rest of the team at this restaurant. Two big thumbs up for the Colonial Room!!

Our first time visiting the Drake Oakbrook and we had a great time I brought my mom to treat her to high tea and she was beyond thrilled with the experience. Very reminiscent of attending high tea in her youth.
Patricia was attending to us and she was sweet, informative and patient. Honestly she raised the ambiance and made us feel special.
We had requested no pork products and they accommodated to us without fuss.

You have a wonderful atmosphere. Yet the food is average and the choices are not of a great variety. It really is a shame. I think this is why you do not have a lot of patrons. Our server was very pleasant and attentive but you need to do something to add to the appeal of the dining experience.

Went to the Polo Lounge for our “date night” and enjoyed tasty small plates and delicious bourbon flavored beer. Added to our evening was live musical entertainment in the Polo lounge from the beautiful Diva Montel. It definitely made for a magical night out for both of us.

We took our girls for high tea on Saturday but the room that it was supposed to be in had a private party, unbeknownst to us. So we were put in a sectioned off room with no ambiance or holiday spirit...very disappointing.

I suppose beggars-Thanksgiving reservation made the day before for 8-can't be choosers, and this proved it. Overcooked prime rib and leg of lamb, cheesecakes from Sam's Club, and very mediocre fare for $70/person. You people need to come down South and learn how to make stuffing...a loaf of Wonder bread chopped into pieces just doesn't make the grade, folks. Our server was nice and attentive. Maybe Chicagoans just have lower expectations.

First of all, The location of the restaurant is very poorly placed especially for this time of year. Every time the front door opens cold air can be felt in the restaurant because there were no doors to shield it off from the outside elements. The floor is uneven we noticed it when we walked in, but as we walk out my wife had forgotten about the uneven floor tripped and fell injuring her arm her neck and her leg. No one from the restaurant even knew what it happened. They were absent for long periods of time and you didn’t see anyone waiters, managers, no one. They brought you your meal and disappeared. The noise was so at such a high level you could not carry on a decent conversation at your table. I will not eat there again.

Service was good. Food was good. Atmosphere was weird. The restaurant is across from the bar and is not secluded. We were there on a Friday (7:30) night and It felt like we were at a wedding reception for a couple married in their late 60’s. The music coming from the bar was LOUD and it was (lol) not good. My wife said she felt like we were in Vegas - so if you like that sort of thing...

Being only one of two tables occupied that night, was too quiet/dead. Though do not wish lots of noise, hustle/bustle, this was too much the opposite extreme

Wow, how things have changed.
Many years ago we enjoyed this Sunday buffet. Since it has been awhile since we enjoyed the restaurant, we decided to have a nice brunch. We arrived a little early so we expected to wait. We walked in, and could not find the hostess, I went to the front desk and a very nice clerk walked us over and found the hostess. I was people watching and discovered that a dress code was no longer in force.
I saw younger men with the baseball hats turned around,Tee shirts, ripped jeans, children unaccompanied running around the dining room and then run into the lobby where the guests were treated to a piano recital by two of the misbehaving children.
Perhaps there should be an enforced dress code and if possible the staff could speak with the parents of the unruly children or maybe the parents who choose to share their children with other patrons should be charged for the children’s meals. This may discourage parents from bring their children into this type of environment.
The food was very good, the service was acceptable but the guests ruined our experience.

The food that was served at the High Tea was Not what I expected! The scones were the worst that I have ever had! There were no tea sandwiches and I was highly disappointed! We were told that none of the baked goods were made on the premises and they were not very good. The water for the tea was not even hot but just warm. I have been to quite a few teas and this was definitely the worst. What a waste of my money!

I asked what happened and i was told "we only have round tables for 10 each for seating" i told the hostess how about the other groups setting together? and here response was they asked!!!WOW. fist time at the place and it was not my best experience. Disappointed with entire experience.
