Wonderful food and service. Definitely a hidden gem and we will be returning.
I have never been to a high Tea that serves everything at one time. Also never been to a high Tea that even thoug you have 3 people at your table you only serve 2 of the same kind of sandwiches. They always serve everyone one of each item on the plate. Then if you need more sandwiches they usually as which one do you want. I never had them bring another plate again of 2 each when serving 3 people. I have been to about 7 High Teas This one need much improvement. I will not be going back. They should look at the High Tea downtown at the Drake what a difference.
Great service, quite with very good food at a reasonable price.
We went out to dinner to celebrate a birthday. We couldnt have asked for a better server. David was very polite and has great knowledge of the tapas being served. He made our experience one of a kind. He asked for all of our names, which made the whole night more personable. The food was very excellent. The ingredients were very fresh and presentation was beautiful. The dessert was out of this world. We tried a couple of desserts and then they brought us chef’s choice of a dessert. Raspberry cheesecake. So good! And they even personallized the dessert by writing the name of the birthday girl! Even the chef, Ezequiel, personally came out to see if we enoyed all the food that was served. The evening was perfect, we even sat by rhe fireplace and took pictures by their christmas tree! Thank you again!
Nice holiday buffet. Great service! Nice selection of items for all ages.
Decor was beautiful! Costing 380.00 for 4 people the food was not good at all. I usually do the Thanksgiving brunch at Ditkas Arlington Heights which is Amazing! I thought the Drake would have been just as good but I was wrong.
The food is top-notch and the ambience is elegant and inviting.
My husband and I went for Thanksgiving and it was our first time dining at The Colonial Room. While the per person charge is somewhat steep, the choices were plentiful from meats, sides, salads, seafood and desserts. Most important, everything was so delicious that we had to be careful not to overeat! The service and ambiance were excellent. Holiday music was playing in the background but it was not distracting. The room itself is open with windows all around. Had it been snowing, it would have been a beautiful sight. We thoroughly enjoyed the experience!
We went to the Colonial Room for Thanksgiving lunch. The food was pretty good (for a buffet), the service was exceptional, but the dining space is tired. For the money, other places feel a lot more special.
Made reservations for 45th anniversary dinner through open table. Showed up restaurant was closed. I will never go here again. I will never use open table either.
Lighting was too bright. With the nice fireplace and quiet atmosphere
Our first time dining at this renowned buffet & my wife & I were very pleased. All the food choices were above average for a buffet & the service was excellent. An expensive brunch but worth the cost.
Overall our brunch experience was nice. The staff was very friendly and attentive. The one thing that rubbed me the wrong way was that I was charged for a child under 5 when they were supposed to be free. No one even asked how old she was. When I brought to the servers attention, they had no problem adjusting BUT they added a 18% service fee on to the total prior to removing the fee for the child. Our service was very good so I would have left a 20% tip. But I don’t like the sneakiness of putting a service fee on the incorrect bill amount. It has made me think twice about returning.
The service was wonderful, and the food was delicious with generous portions. Great value!
I made the reservation several weeks ago for our party of six. When we arrived, we were advised that the Colonial Room had been undergoing renovations and was not ready for guests. Had we known in advance we would have found another place for our luncheon. We were given the choice of being seated in the Colonial Room while the workers were busy bringing chairs and tables and linens to get it ready OR being seated in the Polo Lounge. Who would enjoy visiting and dining while a three ring circus was in progress? So we chose the Polo Lounge which is just off the lobby. It was dark and noisy. While the service and food were acceptable, I feel the Drake let us down by failing to notify us that we would not be dining in the Colonial Room. Our group gets together once a year so needless to say we were disappointed in the experience.
Unknown to us the Colonial Room is going through a remodel. The Drake is seating people in the bar area and providing the Colonial
Room menu. The food and drinks were fabulous and the service was exceptional. The ambiance was certainly not the Colonial Room due to the large flat screen TVs with Monday night football. Phone first!
I went with family for Sunday Brunch and was disappointed to find out that brunch would be in a side room, instead of the main room with gorgeous views. I had called the day before making sure we booked for brunch, and there was no mention that brunch would be moved from the usual location. We found out after we arrived that the room was closed due to a party the night before. The staff the night before didn't finish cleaning up, so they moved us to a corner room. There were tables stacked with dirty dishes and linens. The food was ok, but not what I would expect from The Drake.
A bar pretending to be a restaurant. At these prices we were expecting a luxury dining experience.....it was anything but. We arrived at the empty eight table dining area thinking we were in the wrong place because there was no hostess. We stood there for sometime without acknowledgement. We finally asked a bartender for help and his response was "just sit wherever you want". The food was mediocre as was the service. Will not be back.
Even though the main dining room was closed due to remodeling, the food was wonderful. The service as always very good. We ate in the bar which is lovely as well.
It was an experience which was not very pleasant. The buffet looked very nice. The problem was the food
was dry, the oysters were warm, the salad was limp, the eggs benedict were almost hard boiled and etc.
The service was very poor. We saw the waitress once. She never refilled coffee or water glasses.
It was over priced and the service charge of 18% was added into the bill for 2 people. It was a buffet with
Our first time there. Great experience. Will definitely be back.
The food and service are always excellent.
Get the chateaubriand. Great taste. Great value. A steak for two from days gone by.
A great place to visit and celebrate a birthday party!
Food is plentiful and super quality!
Excellent attention to detail and service
Always a good experience. The best food and service.
We booked Sunday brunch reservations in The Colonial Room but when we arrived, the brunch had been "bumped" to a ballroom for a high school graduation party. The Colonial Room looks like a beautiful Sunday brunch location but we felt as if we were at a work convention at round conference dining tables. When the restaurant called to confirm our reservation, they should have let us know that we were not going to have the experience we had reserved for. Very disappointing.
I had a wonderful dinner with my family for my daughters college graduation. The staff was very good and took great care of us. The food was delicious. Thanks for s great experience.
we had a reservation for 12:15. It was very crowded it was Father's Day. They had it setup different to accommodate more people. There was a line for food. Delayed because of where they had the omelet station, causing a hughe back up. The food was good as always. The service was good also. It would have been better if they had it set up to have the line on both sides. Also, they could have some one take your order make the omelet order and bring it to your table.
We went for father's day and it was a mess. The lines for the food were way too long. They only had plates in one corner, so everyone was in the same line and people waiting for omelets held the whole thing up. We tried to explain to the hostess what the problem was and she did not get it. She told people "lunch is on the other side" but there were no plates for people to get food. There was a private party who basically all ate at once and caused a huge delay. We did not have one dedicated server and had to ask several times for a high chair and for the bill. We would send one person to get a lot of food for the table instead of all waiting and the "attentive staff" kept taking plates full of food that were in the center of the table to share before we could tell them to leave it. I get if it happens once, but 3 times! And then we get the bill, and this place is not cheap. I expect way more for that price.
Father's Day Brunch was fantastic! Food was delicious -worth the wait. Lupita provided excellent service (our coffee cups / water glasses were never empty). She and her other wait staff really worked hard . Very professional. Highly recommend.
The Father’s Day brunch was clearly oversold. Nice brunch usually but was really disappointed by the service and the 18% tip added to bill. Never asked if we’d like juice or soda. Had 4 children there and was very disappointed
Lunch was very nice. The atmosphere lent to good conversation. Nice selection of lunch entrees. They could include a few more entrees for meatless meals. Since it’s located in a hotel it was very easy to obtain a reservation on the weekend.
The chateau Brind for two as well as the ribeye and one of the seafood entrees were all...superb. Well served and delicious! I have grown up eating home fed prime angus beef and this could have been the best beef dinner I have ever had (I am in my 70’s!).
The bar area was hopping with live music...Classic music from bygone era. What a great place for excellent food very quiet and classy. I may wear a coat next time...it is a great place for a date or romantic setting. Food was superb and competes with Gibsons and The Chop House etc... There was a wedding at the same time in the banquet area so it was busy but still quiet in our area. What a great find for the western suburbs. These types of places are getting harder to find. Thank you to the people who took over and made it a classy place!
Great getaway for business lunch; quiet, not ever crowded. Food is awesome, but it takes a while for the food to be served.
Excellent service on a busy day like Mother's Day!! Servers were very attentive. Food was great as was the atmosphere. Can't wait to go back and try out a regular Sunday brunch.
Mother’s Day Brunch was our first visit to The Drake. It was absolutely the best brunch we have had in 10 years of going out for Mother’s Day. This outing is a real treat for me and my family. The food and service was beyond exceptional, the setting is beautiful. We really enjoyed everything and I thank you and your attentive staff, all welcoming too!
Service and food were very good. Wait staff made us feel very comfortable and had many good dining and drink suggestions. Very nice happy hour drink prices.
I had to go to the reception desk to find out where the restaurant was. There were signs all around for everything except the Colonial Room. We were the only guests except for a table doing tastings for some future event. The food was fine but not amazing. Several times we thought we were forgotten by the wait staff but when they did pay attention they were attentive. I was looking for something other than the normal fare at Oakbrook but this was really the normal fare at Oakbrook.
