What Insiders Are Saying
The Clocktower in the Edition Hotel is a Flatiron facsimile of a popular restaurant in London. And it works here just as well as it works over there.
There were quite a bit of flies today in the restaurant
Very attentive, knowledgeable and helpful staff. Cozy, warm and interesting restaurant in the former MET Insurance building. A lovely experience.
We went for the afternoon tea and had a great experience. They give you soo much food and almost everything was tasty. The dining room is gorgeous and the staff were very kind and attentive.
Sunday Brunch at the Clocktower: great food, attentive service and nice atmosphere. Not complaints but the size of the burrata, it’s ridiculously small, even for fine dining standards, I suggest you to take a look at it. The wine list is pretty solid and the staff is courteous and professional. We left happy and we’ll probably be back.
This is one of the finest restaurants in all of NYC.
Easter family brunch
Excellent food and service wonderful decor. The only complaint is that it the noise level was greater than we expected. But we would return.
Our steak was cold and they still made us pay for it
The ambiance and service was great. The food was not. Overpriced and under sized. We ordered the dry aged burger and the skirt steak. The burger is better characterized as a slider and I just did not get any of the funkiness one would expect. The skirt steak...well we've had better skirt off our grill at home. I will say that the fries and the mashed potatoes were amazing. Though, if you melt 4 sticks of butter into anything itll taste great.
They serve a complimentary sourdough loaf which honestly might have been the tastiest thing we ate.
we were very well looked after and the food was amazing
Amazing food and drinks and wait staff was super friendly!
Service was inconsistent and a bit disappointing. Food was otherwise OK. Ambiance was great.
It's always fantastic! Great service, the food is always very good and it's a great space!
Staff were cold, tried to take plates before we’d finished. Wine was average yet marked up by 5 times shop price. Food was average, cauliflower starter lacked inspiration and the tenderloin main was, if I’d did not know better, perhaps frozen then thawed. Basically it was tough and stringy, dry. Bill was nearly $700 so feel my comments are valid. Won’t eat her again. On the upside, ambiance of setting is very nice. All show and no go...
Great room with iconic photos, fireplace, excellent service!
Dover sole for 2 was served at room temperature. We sent it back and were told that the kitchen would prepare it fresh and reserve. Instead, the kitchen decided to reheat the returned portion and reserve it. The food was warm and tasty but the presentation and subsequent experience was disappointing. Every other aspect of the meal lived up to our expectation.
Food is very average and so is the service.
Our $65 steak was the same quality you get for $16.99 in the grocery store. Very disappointing.
Excellent food. Favorites were the lobster and skirt steak.
Very lovely setting and nicely prepared food although the portions are super tiny and the prices are not justifiable
Everything about The Clocktower is great: beautiful restaurant, amazing cocktails, delicious food, attentive service. My only complaint (which keeps the rating at 4 stars) is the size of the portions. My date ordered the duck and got about half a breast. I had the lamb; for nearly $50 I got about 3oz of meat. Again, everything tasted fantastic, but they need to be more generous with the proportions.
The food was disappointing and the venue had terrible and loud music more appropriate to a disco club than a Michelin Star restaurant. Very difficult to understand the wait staff given the noise and their desire to stand at some distance from the table in a largely empty dining room. Kudos to the wine manager who offered to bring us something else and graciously apologized for our poor dining experience. Nevertheless we will not be revisiting this restaurant.
We came here for my husband’s birthday (the two of us). We were seated at a great table and they had a card waiting there wishing him a happy birthday. Several of the staff were aware of the occasion and greeted us warmly. The two birthday glasses of good champagne on the house were an especially welcoming touch.
Our marinated yellowtail appetizer, while a bit inventive for my taste buds, was still delicious and creative. This was the last day it would be on the season’s menu. The bread loaf is beyond delicious -- every time. For entrees we had a strip and a filet, both perfect, along with a nice and reasonably priced bottle of white chosen by the sommelier. A little desert (not specifically requested) came with a candle.
I don’t want to pigeonhole this as a “birthday” or “special occasion” place. It’s a great restaurant, period. I’ve been here on several other dinner occasions, business and casual. It is an especially gorgeous room, with gracious service, and creative and yet solid food. But on this occasion we were satisfied and treated wonderfully in every way. There are a lot of places in New York where you can spend the same amount of money, but few that have left us feeling so good. Go ahead, treat yoself!
Everything perfect here, except for the noise. It's in my neighborhood, the decor is great and the service is fabulous. But I was not able to hear a word. Most of Americans can ignore this as I know you guys love noisy places, you even call it energetic. But how you can chat in this environment is a lifetime secret for me.
It was an amazing time. The service was on point. Food top notch. I can for a special occasion and they did not disappoint. I look forward to my next dining experience with them.
Only go for the bar. You can do far better for food.
Big dilemma!! Service at The Clocktower was excellent but food was adequate. Too bad! We were welcome with a smile and a happy birthday note on the table followed by a glass of champagne. The disappointment came with the food. Hudson Valley Foie Gras And Chicken Liver Parfait - salty, served on a bed of lentils (not mentioned in the description of the dish) apparently served with a brioche toast (read white bread)
Brooklyn burrata resembled cottage cheese lacked in flavor with an occasional coarsely ground pieces of salt sans fava beans. Long Island duck breast was fine but not fine enough to please a guest at Michelin-starred restaurant. Berkshire Pork Chop was excellent and it saved the evening as it was ordered by the birthday girl. I could not wait for dessert but the disappointment continued. Earl Grey Soufflé with cognac cream was anemic in looks and taste. I think they forgot the cognac. Soufflé and birthday candles do not mesh well therefore a little, tiny b'day cake arrived at the table. It looks sweet and adorable but without flavor. It was a very expensive dinner which I expected it to be otherwise I would not have chosen The Clocktower but I expected to be wowed for the price. It is a beautiful space with ambiance and great service but the chef might have had a night off on Friday March 15th.
I could sit in The Clock Tower for a week just looking at the fabulous photography collection. The food was excellent and our server was a true professional - she appeared like magic when we needed something but was not over attentive. It was a late lunch so not very crowded, noise level was low. I will return for sure.
The bartender made me some amazing tequila cocktails (no margarita or trendy over the top spicy mezcal bs.) in the restaurant, service was attentive and smart. My burger was cooked perfectly and fries weren't soggy, plus there were only like 10 so I didn't feel like an enormous cow rolling out of there. Overall good times.
Considering this is a Michelin starred restaurant at a reasonable price point, I would recommend it. Wonderful option for cocktails in the Lobby Bar and then dinner at The Clocktower for a date night.
Not the ideal place for a business dinner. We were interrupted every two minutes. For dinner waitstaff are keen to get you out of your table. It was a very annoying and disruptive dinner with two clients.
Great birthday celebration with friends here! Servce was impeccable and the souffle ad banoffee tart were unique and delicious highlights of our meal.
Love everything about this place. Except for the prices. Good for a special night out.
Everything was good but the duck entree was a little on the salty/sweet side - at least for my taste.
The experience was average. For a large party we were seated at a small table despite there being other larger spaces that remained available throughout our entire meal. There wasn't even room for a bottle of water on the table!
amazing food, flavor and presentation. Service was wonderful and detailed. Sommelier very knowledgeable and accommodating. Hopefully return soon.
Great food & presentation- need a few more entrees though
Outstanding food. Attentive and precise service. Great wine program to boot. Will definitely be returning.
I’ve been to this restaurant multiple times-brunch, afternoon tea, lunch. I’ve loved every meal I’ve had here leading up to this last visit. It was my first dinner experience here-I ordered the risotto, which was very undercooked. I guess I could have sent it back but I didn’t want to be fussy. My friend got the tilefish and was underwhelmed by it’s flavor. She also got a side of potato gratin which she felt was under seasoned-it was. I had seen pictures on Instagram of the risotto and it usually had sautéed mushrooms and some type of green on it but mine included shaved truffles which is great, but I think the dish needed some contrast. I also got an orange cordial which was mostly iced so I couldn’t detect the creamsicle flavor that had been hyped from my server. The servers are awesome by the way. My friend and I split the banoffee tart tatine for dessert-transcendent. Hands down, the star of the night and made up for the not so great meal before. I will dream of that dish for years to come. I may go back, becausd even the best restaurants have some misses and this is one of the best
Expensive but very good food
Great food and impeccable service. I would definitely recommend for a special occasion.
