What Insiders Are Saying
The Clocktower in the Edition Hotel is a Flatiron facsimile of a popular restaurant in London. And it works here just as well as it works over there.
Not our first time at the Clocktower and another disappointment. We took one of our clients out for dinner last night because we'd had the burger there before and it was delicious. We ordered a nice bottle of red wine, and halfway through our main course it still didn't arrived. We asked the waiter multiple times, and were told that the sommelier 'was looking for it'. Finally, the waiter suggested we ordered something else by the glass instead, and by then our guest was done with his meal, which was very embarrassing since we were trying to show him a great time. Otherwise...food is excellent, service is very slow. I wouldn't go back there again.
Beautiful physical space. But stunningly overpriced and stingy wine pour.
The ambiance and history of the space the restaurant is in is wonderful. Service was fine, the food was nothing to write home about. The ground level bar which happens to be the Hotel bar was fantastic, lively and upbeat. As for dinner, I should have reserved a table at 11 Madison where you wont be disappointed.
The food was amazing and the service outstanding. Pricey but worth it for a special occasion.
Everything was lovely but the food was sort of mediocre. I ordered the pork chop and it was visually unappealing, all dark brown on a plate and it was so dry. The scallop hamachi was not very flavorful. I usually like this place but the food was just not great this time around. Cocktails were very good.
Takes itself too seriously. Overpromises and underdelivers on the food. Wine list very expensive.
Interesting club room vibe.
Staff very keen to upsell an already expensive proposition.
I'd forgive all of this if the quality was delivered (food, ambiance, service) but didn't
Many customers clearly forgot to use their inside voices.
45 min for bread. 1:20 for app. 1:50 for main. Lunch service total should be 45 minutes. My guests left before entrees. Got them to go...no apology from management.
Really great service, ambiance and food. Met all our expectations.
Simply phenomenal. Outstanding food with thoughtful flavor combinations. Knowledgeable somollier. Excellent service. Truly upscale, but with a relaxed feeling. One of my favorite restaurant experiences.
Wonderful service and food. I look forward to dining with you again!
Great experience. The service provided by the entire staff was outstanding.
The Clock tower restaurant was beyond amazing. I have never had a better filet mignon and the homemade butter was out of this world! Oh, and the potatoes au gratin...I could keep going. The ambience and service was 5-star all the way! I swear there was a different person to deliver each serving of food as if I were a king! Thanks again!
Un peu déçu par rapport à celui que nous connaissons à Londres, Pollen Street Social. Cadre très agréable, bon service mais peu souriant. Peu de créativité dans les plats même si bien exécuté, ce qui nous déçoit de Jason Atherton...
Good food, but not fantastic. Also fairly expensive so expected the food to be better than it was. Really nice atmosphere.
Sophisticated restaurant and educated waiter and hostess.
Among the most underrated restaurants and bars in all of New York. Love the bar (second floor by the pool table is just beautiful). Love the drinks (3rd visit — I think I’ve had them all now.) last one was the the buttered rum which I went to pieces over. Love the burger. I replaced fries with carrots and they were awesome. Steak tartare was just bursting with rich flavor. The scallops (at 2 a little small) but lightly covered in a seafood bisque that was luxuriant. The duck - I can’t comment because my wife ate it too fast.
Pistachio soufflé should be a requirement for dining there. The corn custard was the perfect bridge from savory to sweet.
Looking forward to coming back soon.
The restaurant is nicely appointed and the server was excellent. However, the menu choices are quite limited, pretentious in their descriptions, sometimes odd in the combinations of ingredients and expensive. The food presentations were, however, attractive. The wine choices by the glass are also very limited although we enjoyed the wine we settled on.
This might be a place to bring someone in order to make an impression but a better and more extensive combination of choices and a more modest set of price points would make it a better value.
Food was good overall but the service was off. It took 45 minutes for us to get our starters and the restaurant wasn’t busy and servers were standing around with not much to do.
Loved this meal and this restaurant. I stay at the Edition from time-to-time and will make it a point to come in more often to the Clocktower....
Food was okay given the price. Service was awfully slow (took 45 minutes for starters to come out) and not very professional. Would not recommend for a nice occasion.
Excellent meal, attentive service and very vibrant atmosphere.
My husband and I went to the clock tower for our 15 year anniversary. The prices were out of sync with the quality. The duck breast was the worst we’ve had. I did love the venison, but there was only about 2 ounces of meat. The waiter asked if he wanted another glass of wine, but didn’t even bother to bring us a menu to decide which one we wanted. He brought us what he thought we would want and it turned out to be $36 PER glass! The waiter paid little attention to us. It was a very expensive dinner that left us depressed that we drove four hours to New York for our anniversary.
I like the upscale setting and the decorations. The receptionist and our waiter was friendly. The fish stew and the risotto we ordered were very good. The oysters, crab toast, smoked fish omelettes were good but not amazing. I hope the menu can be more spectacular. Overall pretty good experience. Will recommend friends this restaurant.
It was our anniversary and their attention to detail and our over all experience was outstanding. The sommelier listened attentively to our interests and recommended the perfect wine. Our dinner was delicious and we couldn’t have wanted a better experience.
Rafined atmosphère, professional service, tasty food
Quite expensive , ad one can imagine
For all the dinner hype....breakfast was meh.
Amazing food, wonderful service, even better atmosphere.
Great place for a business lunch or meal with friends in the Grammercy area. The food was delicious, great fresh tomato salad, and the Halibut was amazing. Will definitely return.
Great food and service
During my stay in Manhattan, this was simply the best place I had dinner. It was absolutely phenomenal, with 5-star gourmet dishes and professional service through and through. I will DEFINITELY be back!
I love his London restaurants but this was extremely loud. We had to yell at each other across the table the entire time which not only made for an in enjoyable time but the din is at odds with the decor of the place. More of a ‘scene’ than his restaurants in London.
I’ve been here a few times, and the ambiance is always very nice. This time the food and service just seemed to be on another level. Granted I came early so a lot of the staff had nothing to do but pamper me, but the food was absolutely fantastic. The braised halibut was perfectly cooked with Ana amazing lobster sauce, and the NY strip steak was very good as well. I like this place, and I go to the lobby bar downstairs all the time. Great location by Madison Square Park, so if you want to try out a new swanky spot, come here.
Went there for an anniversary and they took special care to seat us at a nice table, offer us champagne on the house, and gave us an after dinner dessert.
Extremely friendly staff and awesome atmosphere. I’d recommend going if you’re looking for a very nice date spot.
Somewhat expensive, but worth it for everything that they offer.
Green beans were served cold (intentionally) and just too much truffle oil. They weren’t my favorite. Everything else was amazing.
It was our first time, here and they have expanded their restaurant in Cebu City Philippines . My friend had the steak and our waiter suggested i get the snapper for our main dish. The food, service and place was impecable. We love it here.
I like the bar a lot. The restaurant was meh...Pork chop was good but it is a fu fu place.
I celebrated my birthday with my partner. All the staff was very friendly, since I arrived, congratulations and throughout the dinner. The menu was short but delicious, especially the seafood and a great wine list. The ambiete very warm and pleasant
Excellent food & service - as always.
Impeccable service. Friendly staff. Food was either very good or excellent. Pricey, but normal for this type of dining.
