The Clinton House Ratings and Reviews
We went to the Clinton House for a pre-Christmas get together with family and friends. They have a warm and cozy atmosphere which is just what we were looking for. Everyone loved the restaurant and raved about their meals ranging from filet mignon to seafood. Our server was very attentive. We go to the Clinton House every few months and always enjoy it.
we enjoyed dining at the Clinton house about 8 years ago and decided to go again for a special night out. The food was mediocre. We ordered sauerbraten and duck from the daily specials. The sauerbraten was off and the potato pancakes were thick and doughy. The duck was dry as well as the rice and the only flavor was from the gravy. The salad and broccoli side were the best parts of the meal. Service was very good. If we ever return, friends have suggested only ordering steak.
No matter how many years go by between many visits to the Clinton House, it is always as excellent as the previous time. The ambiance is relaxed and welcoming; the service is very attentive and although it is on the more expensive side, what you get for it is substantial and well-prepared. I ordered the twin lobster tails and I was amazed at how large they were. They were well worth the price. The deserts are also worth saving room for. My friend had the chocolate decadence cake which she said was superb and I had the bread pudding, which in my opinion is the best I've ever had. The Clinton House is definitely a place that you want to come back to frequently.
Excellent experience. Accommodating to change in reservation time and still gave us a booth! Warm and welcoming. Excellent and responsive waitress. Great wine list offering my favorite single prosecco. It was cold and delicious. I always order the crab cakes; they are divine. They are all about the crab. Sides were to-die-for au gratin potatoes and perfectly steamed and seasoned broccoli. Bread baked in the onsite bakery is delicious and arrives warm. The bakery also makes the desserts for the restaurant. We stopped in after lunch to get some goodies to go. Everything looked so delicious it was hard to decide what to get. Love this place!
Had dinner at the Clinton House with friends and loved every minute of the experience. Three of our party had the filet mignon which was prepared to perfection; nobody was disappointed. I had the special Stuffed Branzino which was outstanding in flavor and the presentation was phenomenal. May I suggest being seated outside of the bar area if you want to have an intimate dinner.
Brought my mother, a local, for her birthday. This is her choice; last year as well. All meals come with a salad and the red Catalina dressing with blue cheese should not be missed. I had the petit filet au bleu sitting on sautéed mushrooms and onions with potatoes and it was absolutely fabulous! We'll be back again.
We visited here again for our 1st year of marriage and 11th year together anniversary. The food was fantastic and we were seated by the fire place. We had the clams Casio o and French onion soup. For our main dish we went with the beef Wellington and the filet. Both were cooked perfectly. We’ve been here several times before and as usual the food is always consistently great. The staff is always pleasant and made our anniversary special for us.
Our first time for dinner was wonderful, table for two by the fireplace! The ambience by the fireplace made the meal even more enjoyable. The service was excellent. I ordered the filet mignon that was cooked to perfection, my wife had the stuffed pork chop, she said was delicious .
We also had drinks,i must say my Bloody Mary was the best i have ever had! The
finishing touch was desert, delicious cheesecake!Highly recommend and we are looking forward to coming back soon.
This was the fourth time I've visited Clinton House and was underwhelmed in this instance. My first experience, I could leave nothing but glowing reviews, a braised lamb loin was done to absolute perfection. The next time I came for lunch and had a plain, forgettable cheeseburger. The third time I left saying I'd give it another shot, as I vaguely remember the meal having redeeming qualities.
This time left some to be desired, but, I must say, it was partially our own doing. Our server was pleasant, attentive, and hard working. We ordered a house cabernet and a Guinness, both left a bad taste in our mouth's. The cab was practically cooking wine, while the Guinness was poured incorrectly (I assumed it would be ordering it, but none the less, could have been pleasantly surprised). The house salad's were thrown together and drenched with a lazy vinaigrette, resembling what you'd get at a pizza parlor. Our meals, filet and strip steak, were again, forgettable.
I'd return, with lower expectations and for lunch. If impressed, I'd be tempted to give dinner a go again for the sheer history and location.
Another great meal at the Clinton House. Highly recommend the Sauerbraten - seasoned just right and incredibly beautiful meat. Fabulous potato pancakes and as a final topper the best bread pudding you could ask for. Thanks Clinton House - can't wait to be back.
We have been dining there for years. A little expensive but worth it. Always an excellent meal, very comfortable there, friendly staff, nice bar area. Parking can sometime be challenging if you have a handicapped person in your party.... so drop off and go park somewhere.
Went there for me and my wife's anniversary for the first time on Saturday and it was the best meal that I had in a very long time and enjoyed our time together
There was no rush we took our time The food was excellent and the staff was very pleasant
We both look forward to going back again
We had been to the Clinton House many years ago when it was the previous owners! Many great memories! We were going back to relive our great expectations of the prime rib for a special occasion. It really was a beautiful piece of meat, but not living up to our expectations. It really needed to be seasoned more! I wish I could say I truly loved it! But with that said, the restaurant was absolutely packed on a Saturday night. The wine list was decently priced! We had 2 birthdays in our party, that were previously noted on the reservation, and no acknowledgement made. I have to say.. I was overall, disappointed.. Sorry! Not worth the $300+ for the meal..
I booked the Clinton house because it was in between our home and my sister in laws home ... we celebrated my Mother in laws 86th birthday ... the food, atmosphere &a company was excellent ... Its a celebration she won't forget ... the staff was friendly & on top of everything ... she loved the part when they bought out her dessert singing "happy birthday" (which we weren't charged for) awesome surprise. Will be returning next week with a group of nurses for an evening out.
Always enjoyable coming to Clinton and taking a walk along the water and past the Old Mill. The Clinton House’s food options have a good range without being too excessive. The menu appealed to 4 people, ages 11-51. The pecan crusted pork tenderloin, sauerbraten and steak, were all delicious. The stone interior/ surround gives the dining area a very unique look. Though a lot of white noise / chatter, the acoustics somehow allow for easy conversation at the dining tables.
Our waitress was great -there when we needed her, gone when we didn't...
Food was well prepared, fresh ingredients and SERVED HOT which seems to be a big challenge for most restaurants these days.
I have realized, after all these years, that a good restaurant experience has to be at least equal to what you can prepare at home or better. Our meal met that challenge...and my wife is great cook!
We were knowingly seated next to a historic customer that remained on a business mobile call after 7pm, we very pleasantly asked to be moved after realizing that the noisce of the mobile conversation was not going to diminish after 30 minutes at least. WSe were promptly reseated in a nice manner. Also ran out of the white wine we chose for our seafood meals. Food was extremely salty. Our wait staff was very pleasant and enjoyed the restaurant in other ways. We walked to the restaurant from our hotel in order that we could drink our wine knowing we could walk back to our hotel after a long drive that day.
