The Cliff House Dining Room has one of the most spectacular views anywhere. Unfortunately, the menu could use an update. The only item that sounded the least bit interesting on the menu was the skirt steak and it was wonderful. My husband's strip steak was also very good but none of the other items screamed-try me. When we saw that the menu was laminated we knew it did not get changed very often---hint, they don't use seasonal ingredients. Also in an area of the country where lobster is prevelant, there were only two choices-a lobster roll and lobster mac and cheese. The chef can create, like the skirt steak I had. Let him do more!

This was a pleasant surprise! We actually returned a second night. The menu was not huge, but the food was outstanding. The lobster was to die for and the brie was great!!

Very happy with our Dining experience. We both liked the menu changes especially the small plates selection. My husbands baked stuffed haddock was cooked perfectly. My crab cakes and house salad was just the right amount of food. The salad had 3 different greens and dressed perfectly.

The views of the ocean crashing into the rocks while dining was spectacular. The flavor, presentation and service were just great. We there were four of us dining and we all had either the fish & chips or the baked stuffed haddock, presentation and flavor were just perfect...

My husband and I went for the weekend to celebrate my 50th birthday. It was our first time going to the Cliff House. The views were spectacular. We ended up having a different room the first night because of booking issues. The first room was excellent. Plenty of room and a great view. We were a little disappointed in our second room. While it still had a great view, it was not as big and accommodating as the first room. Our dining experience was wonderful. The dining room has a spectacular view and the service was excellent. We had two dinners there and two breakfasts. The dinners was superb. Everything was very fresh. The atmosphere was very calm and quiet. Overall we had a very enjoyable experience at the Cliff House.

We were staying at the Cliff House and had friends meet us there for dinner. It was off season and mid week so the dining room was exceptionally quiet. The fact that it was off season may also have been responsible for the fact that the staff seemed to be somewhat inefficient. There were some mix ups with the food. We also had breakfast one day and experienced the same thing. The toast served was not what we ordered. I also heard another diner near by complaining that they had given her bacon when she ordered ham. The food was quite delicious though.

Celebrated our wedding anniversary at this out of the way restaurant and had great seats by the window in the corner. Wait-staff very attentive and thoughtful. The Lobster dinner was perfect and my wife enjoyed the baked stuffed Haddock. The lobster bisque was well seasoned and freshly made. My wife liked the balance of the bacon and clams in the chowder. Save room for dessert!

A wonderful spot if you like to watch the ocean as you enjoy a delicious dinner. Situated right on the ocean, The Cliffhouse has an amazing view. Ask for a table by a window for the best view but then enjoy wonderful service, a very ice menu selection and soft background music for a completely enjoyable dinner.

The decor of the restaurant could definitely be updated but the views are gorgeous and the food was delicious! I had the baked haddock and my boyfriend had the chicken sandwich. The vanilla raspberry creme brulee was also very tasty! Our waitress was very nice also.

Our 2nd time here in a month, the view of the crashing ocean on the cliff is magnificent but the food is just OK. Presentation is very good but the main course quality was lacking, especially for a facility with this view and price.steaks not tender, chicken was dry and lacking flavor, haddock was under cooked. My impression is this is group function food, not high end restaurant. Even wine list is lacking good higher end wines. Staff was very nice and helpful.

While the view was nice it didn't make up for the poor service, outdated interior and mediocre food. The strip steak was thin and tough.

A bit on the shabby side interior and exterior, some charm updating/refreshing needed. View was just okay, but it was dark outside so I don't know how nice it would be during the daytime, but it wasn't anything special at night. The lighting from our booth was not helpful-serious glare on the window, inhibited our view. The lighting is all wrong....large, bright lamp behind and to the side. The steak (filet mignon) was excellent BUT hardly any crabmeat in the crablegs...as we realize since then having had King crab other places, this was a teeny amount for a lot of $$. My dish was not impressive, portion pretty small and not worth the money. I could've done better at home, I remember thinking.

This was our first time to visit the Cliff House. The menu was excellent with entrees for everyone, vegetarian, fish with a
focus on Maine. A great selection of appetizers also. We booked an early dinner so we were the only diners and had a table overlooking both the cliff and the ocean. As we ate the full moon came up over the horizon. Very special!

We headed to the Cliff House on a beautiful Autumn day. The scenery was great. Our first stop was at the bar for a before dinner drink. The bartender was very friendly and even let us know when we could go into the dining room. Once we were in the dining room the waiter was right there to take our order. We both had the sirloin steak , which was cooked to perfection, We had requested a window seat and the view was spectacular.

We were seated near a gas-powered fireplace, at a window seat that overlooked the ocean crashing against the cliffs below us. As the sun went down, spotlights lit up to allow us to continue to watch the water crash below us. The huge lobby and the comfortable bar provided us with an elegant after dinner drink. Simply awesome!

We spent a too short weekend at the Cliff House, but loved every minute and had an excellent meal! Service was perfect, the food was delicious and we recommend it to anyone considering a stay at the Cliff House. I went here several times as a teenager with my grandparents and it lived up to all my memories!

The food is very good, but you don't' go there for the food. You go, and love it, for the atmosphere. Fireplace. Large windows facing the ocean. Surf crashing on the jagged rocks below you. Beautiful. But again, the food and service are very good. My only real wish is that the wine list was improved a bit.

My meal was wrong twice and I was charged $36 for a meal that was inedible. Horrible service. Horrible food. Would def not recommend! The dinning room was empty and strangely, the service was terrible. There were 3 of us; it took forever to bring our drinks, water glasses were not refilled, I ordered a Medium Filet that was rare, it took 10 minutes to call this to her attention; she brought me a new steak about 5 minutes later that was well done, wasn't seasoned & tasted like it was in the microwave. They forgot the glaze on the new steak, it was extra dry, I couldn't eat half of it & I was starving. The waitress never even came back to see if the meal was right the second time. I tried to again get her attention but she just ignored us.

We requested and were given a table by the window overlooking the ocean. In my opinion, no better view in the world! We were delighted to watch the full moon rise over the water; it was something we'll always remember. Our appetizers were really good, great portion size and good taste and presentation. Our entrees were OK; mine was a little bland and my husband's fish was overcooked, but honestly we didn't come here for the food, we came for the view.
