The Clearwater Ratings and Reviews
We had dinner at the Clearwater with another couple, for our 29th wedding anniversary. It was a great experience end to end. Great, attentive staff, delicious food, pleasing atmosphere. The only thing that could have been better was the view... we were facing the parking lot. We would definitely come back and will recommend to our friends and family.
Jamie was our waitress and she was fabulous. The food was excellent. I had lobster and petite prime rib. Great wine choices - Kendall Jackson Chardonnay. The others at my table drink a few bottles of cabernet - not sure what ones - but they enjoyed them. Others at the table had salmon, scallops, and filet. All commented on how yummy it was. Thanks!
Have eaten here a number of times, but this time we were not impressed with the duck that we ordered. This dish didn't include a vegetable or starch side dish; the only "vegetable" it had was a pile of steamed sliced white onions, which were an odd side dish to have. The duck had a small line of huckleberry sauce but not enough to dip every bite into it. The duck was a bit underdone so was still chewy.
Because there was no true vegetable or starch side dish, we ordered sharable separate side dishes of asparagus and of mushroom risotto. The asparagus was tasty and cooked just right, but the risotto had cheese on it which made it a bit too heavy for our tastes.
We ordered hazelnut chocolate martinis to accompany our dinner, and they were excellent, and helped make up for the disappointing meal. Because the duck didn't include any vegetable or starch side dish (as onion is most certainly not a valid vegetable), the dinner was very overpriced.
I've enjoyed myself there before. I got the special prime New York and Prawns. The new York was dry and chewey! The prawns were an average size shrimp I could get at the local grocery. It was the best false advertising I've seen on an upscale dinner menu ever. It will be the last time I dine there unless I hear they make some changes. I will eat at the buffet for because it's half the cost and same quality
Two years ago we came on Christmas night and the restaurant was quiet and relaxing with superb service.
This time it was almost full, service was so-so, and they wouldn’t honor our request to switch to a booth. Definitely not the same experience as last time and we may not continue the tradition.
Had my second Christmas Eve dinner here. The food was excellent! I had steak and lobster. My filet was cooked perfectly and the lobster was exceptionally sweet. Came with potatoes and carmalelized brussel sprouts which I normally would never eat. They were fantastic! The service was very good as was the atmosphere. I highly recommend this restaurant!
This is the second time that we have eaten dinner at The Clearwater and have been extremely pleased both times. The service has been great, the food fantastic and the ambience is fabulous for a nice, romantic dinner. They seem to do a wonderful job sourcing real, local ingredients and of absolute quality. Will continue to recommend this restaurant, as well as patron it myself.
The food was very good and the staff helped by holding my to go box until I could pick up when they were closing. We were running late for the show when arrived.
We did sit for at least 10 min before we were attended too. Otherwise, the ladies were all helpful and quick to get our food to us.
Three of us for dinner. We all ordered the ribeye steak ($35), no soup or salad, no potato, the veggie was disgusting (none of us ate it). The steak was very good. We had to ask multiple other servers (besides ours) to get iced tea refills. With tip I spent just over $200. Not impressed...will not be going back there.
We enjoyed the lovely decor and the special entrees created for Thanksgiving. The beef striploin was super tender, the turkey was moist, the cranberry bread was flavorful, the pumpkin soup was very unusual and delicious. The side dishes were overcooked, but I'm sure it was hard to keep on top of everything with the volume of people eating there on a holiday. The staff was very attentive and cheerful, which made our long wait for the food seem not so bad. We will try this spot again for a regular, non-holiday meal.
Starters were good, Prawn Cocktail and Crab Cakes. Took over an hour to receive our meal. The excuse given "big party". The first time that happened since I have started going there. Each time I went there was a "big party" and the food would arrive in a reasonable time. Food was luke warm but edible. Not sure if I want to return.
Our server was friendly and generally accommodating. I had the 3 course meal, the red clam chowder was very good but my main entrée the King Salmon was dried out. Which is sad because that's the staple of coastal people! I thought a tribal establishment would make sure their cooks do it right. My girlfriend had the filetmignon and lobster tail, she thought the meat was cooked passed medium like she asked, I thought it was medium. Mainly, the salmon was a letdown for me, being coastal Native. For the price, it should be cooked right. Thank you
Consistency is one of the keys to their success. Always friendly and efficient wait staff and servers. Have a lengthy wine list that is most affordable compared with many other local establishments. When the chef came out of the kitchen and walked through the restaurant greeting customers after dinner was served, it was a pleasure to visit with such a young, aspiring and talented individual. We would highly recommend The Clearwater to anyone whether a family gathering or a private dinner for two. Outstanding!!
