The Clearwater Ratings and Reviews
Starters were good, Prawn Cocktail and Crab Cakes. Took over an hour to receive our meal. The excuse given "big party". The first time that happened since I have started going there. Each time I went there was a "big party" and the food would arrive in a reasonable time. Food was luke warm but edible. Not sure if I want to return.
Our server was friendly and generally accommodating. I had the 3 course meal, the red clam chowder was very good but my main entrée the King Salmon was dried out. Which is sad because that's the staple of coastal people! I thought a tribal establishment would make sure their cooks do it right. My girlfriend had the filetmignon and lobster tail, she thought the meat was cooked passed medium like she asked, I thought it was medium. Mainly, the salmon was a letdown for me, being coastal Native. For the price, it should be cooked right. Thank you
Consistency is one of the keys to their success. Always friendly and efficient wait staff and servers. Have a lengthy wine list that is most affordable compared with many other local establishments. When the chef came out of the kitchen and walked through the restaurant greeting customers after dinner was served, it was a pleasure to visit with such a young, aspiring and talented individual. We would highly recommend The Clearwater to anyone whether a family gathering or a private dinner for two. Outstanding!!
for the most part we had a great time! Me and my son celebrate our birthday a few days apart and we usually go to a Seattle Steakhouse for dinner. My son now loves on Bainbridge so we decide on The Clearwater. Our reservation was at 5:15 and the restaurant was pretty empty so we expected Stellar service. Our waitress was very nice and seemed really on top of things. The one thing that we were not happy with was the order in which our dinners came. We all received our steaks (which were cooked to perfection) and we received 2 of the 3 baked potatoes that were ordered. By the time we received the 3rd baked potato (was also when we received the condiments for the potatoes) we were all already done with half of our meal, and the first 2 baked potatoes were cold by then. It just seemed to be a kink in the service of our dinner and when you are paying this type of money for a meal, I think it would be more streamlined. On a very good note, we were a party of 5 and 3 of us had birthdays. Our server surprised us with 3 pieces of chocolate ganache cake with a scoop of ice cream. The dessert was amazing. We will come back sometime and try again.
My party arrived at 4:30 when the restaurant opened. It took an hour to get our order. One individual in my party ordered the Crab Bisque only to be told 30 minutes later that they were out. How can you be out at when at the start of the evening -- there were only two other tables which had guests.
The food was just OK, mostly underwhelming. The view was excellent and our server was kind and attentive.
The former steakhouse the casino had was better and is greatly missed. Have been to the new steakhouse at this casino now several times and they just cannot seem to get their act together.....disappointing.
The Cafe at the Clearwater Casino was very nice with a couple of exceptions. There is no way to get to the Cafe without needing to transit through the noisy and smokey casino floor. Clear directions to the Cafe are not available, so we parked in the East Garage. We asked the security guard at the door for direction and were greeted with the most rude and off putting series of inane questions. He asked if we wanted to go to the Steak House, which has beeb closed for months and had no good suggestons on how to find the Cafe itself. Other than that the food and service were up to our expectations but fell below what I would discribe as "fine dining"
Took inlaws for a nice steak dinner. 3 got prime rib, seared to perfection which is difficult with prime rib. Alittle on the fatty side & potatoes would be better baked with all the fixings imo.
Service was 1st rate, won't get any better! Ambiance was perfect for having dinner conversation. Not too loud, not too quiet. The booths were comfortable.
The fired oyster appetizer was excellent... the light coating made the oyster crispy outside and juicy inside. The underlying sauce and the pickled sea beans made the dish more interesting and brought this appetizer to a new level. My duck breast entrée was also exceptional with a very non traditional sauce and a mixed of vegetable cubes. My husband's set dinner selection of filet mignon & prawns was good but nothing memorable. The crab bisque was a little too sweet for our taste. The house signature chardonnay was very good, crisp, light and not acidic like most other brands. It was very reasonable priced for a glass and even better if a whole bottle was ordered with dinner. The service was good and attentive. We will definitely be back again to try other dishes as well as to have the oyster appetizer again.
I was really looking forward to trying The Clearwater. We chose this restaurant because we could talk & enjoy the company of friends, rather than compete with background noise.
The interior of the restaurant was nice and thankfully, we could enter the restaurant without going through the smoky casino.
We had a kind server. Though, it astounds me that in a nice steakhouse, some of the basic service skills are not followed - management training opportunity. Little things can make a big difference!
What we experienced:
The order process was rushed. Our friends arrived first and they had been before so they knew what they wanted. We barely sat down and ordered a drink before the server returned, ready to take the order.
The cocktails arrived and they tasted watered down, at least that was the consensus of the table. Half way into our drink, the food arrived. Again, rushed.
I ordered a 6oz filet and it was tasty although slightly overcooked, my husband ordered a ribeye and it was tough! He didn’t want to make a scene, so he said nothing. We had to ask for steak knives! (This is a steakhouse, right?) Regardless, the server didn’t come back to inquire if our food was prepared to our likely.
Here’s what I would have appreciated:
A cocktail that didn’t taste watered down.
Having steak knives on the table ready or brought to us prior to the meal being served.
A little more time rather than being so rushed at every phase.
As sauce offering to go with steak.
Wine offering offering to go with steak.
Wine glasses taken away when not used rather than having to dodge them throughout the meal.
Finally, please…do not remove anyone’s plate until the last person has finished eating!!! Overall, this dining experience was average and I hoped for so much more given our limited dining options on this side of the sound.
With a few tweaks to service and a little extra attention, check averages and guest satisfaction could be so much higher.
Came here on a Friday night with the family. Party of five...three adults and two children...
Access to the restaurant took us through the casino area. It's a smoking facility, so that was a bit of a turn off. Would like to have an alternative route to the restaurant that doesn't get us smelling all smoky before dinner.
Arrived a little early for our reservation, but got seated right away. There was some confusion about the size of our party, but that got resolved without a hitch. We were seated in a small room off to the side of the main dining room. The ambiance in the side room is not as good as the main dining area...the parking garage interferes with the view, but you still had a partial view of the water which is nice. Next time I would want to be in the main room in order to have the best view of the water.
The server's assistant was super friendly and welcoming, but our server was lackluster. For example, when we ordered a bottle of white wine, he poured our first glasses and simply left the bottle sitting on our table. I would have expected him to provide an ice bucket alongside the table to keep the wine chilled throughout the meal. When asked, he provided one however.
The food came in a timely manner and we were impressed with all of our dishes. Even our finicky eater devoured his food. It didn't matter what we ordered, the steaks, fish or salad were awesome. We had a calamari appetizer that was a little bland, and I would recommend more chipotle in the chipotle aioli for a little more zing.
In summary, it's the closest thing to fine dining that I've come across in the area, but that may be a reflection of my relative newness to the area. I think the prices are a little high, but the quality is good. Service for a fine dining establishment needs to improve in terms of attention to details and customer care.
We both ordered from the 3 course meal menu plus an appetizer. From start to finish it was 2 hours. We were very disappointed by this. We wanted to walk the boardwalk and play some games before we had to return home to our children, but since dinner took so long we were unable. It's rare for us to get a night out and this isn't how we wanted to spend our anniversary.
The food was just wonderful. The French onion soup was the best I have had in a very long time!
Absolutely no complaints about the food. The service was hit and miss. Servers would come by and check on us, but leave the empty plates and glasses accumulate on the table until we asked them to be removed.
We went through the casino to get to the restaurant. The smoke was overwhelming. Though once in the restaurant, we could not smell the smoke. Took a long way around leaving to avoid the casino and smoke.
This was a special birthday celebration. Tried to get ahold of them to see if flowers could be delivered and ask about a special dessert. There is no way to do that! Phone number just mentions the hours with no way to leave a message. The web site just directs you to OpenTable and again no way to leave a message. It should not be impossible to talk with someone at the restaurant to get information or request something.
My compliments to the restaurant on the food. It was great and well presented. And the restaurant was quiet enough for a party of old people to hear and enjoy each other. Thank you!
This was my third visit to The Clearwater and it never fails to disappoint. The staff are always very pleasant and welcoming and full of knowledge about the menu. The ambiance is simply stunning. Both tables and booths have views from the floor to ceiling windows that overlook the pristine grounds and the Puget Sound. The food is simply wonderful! You can cut the filet mignon with a fork, the vegetables are always seasonal and expertly prepared, and dessert and appetizers also very good. The part I enjoy is that the food is obviously top notch, but affordable. If The Clearwater can continue to provide a excellent, affordable meals with beautiful scenery, I will return time after time. I can't wait for my next visit!
We had the special 3 course meal. Website stated asparagus as the vegetable but ocra was what we got. Tried it and wasn't very good so waitress was nice enough to replace. My filet mignon was overcooked which wasn't pleasant but at least the flavor was good. The salad, soup and cheesecake was very good. Pretty good value for what you got.
went for a daughter mother dinner. We choose to eat from the appetizer menu and the "shareable" section. The shrimp was amazing and they were able to decrease the "heat" for us. The Lobster Mac and cheese had some great flavor, but no sauce, about 1/8th tsp in bottom of bowl consisting mostly of butter and as midge of milk. Would order again and ask for more creamy sauce.
