The Class Act Ratings and Reviews
We had exceptional service from Lynze and Baylee helped too. The food was wonderful - so many interesting combinations of flavor and texture. The ambiance was truly classy - from linens in vibrant red and contrasting white undershirts, Lovely cracked glass windows and yet eclectic furniture the space was truly classy. The food, decor and most of all the service lives up to this well named eatery.
I also observed beside me a table of four who arrived and as soon as they sat down their pre ordered food was placed on front of them. I’ve NEVER seen that sort of amazing service at a restaurant before. They were clearly either staying at the hotel or were part of a meeting and only had a short time for lunch. I came from OH for a special occasion a year ago and returned to treat the same lovely lady to lunch yesterday. Highly recommend.
A group of 9 of us met here for dinner during a college reunion. We were given a private room which was very quiet and allowed for lots of conversation. Our server was very attentive, knew the menu and took excellent care of us. The food was varied and everyone found something that they wanted to eat. I would call it an upscale restaurant both in terms of the menu, the ambience, the tablesetting, and the price. We all would highly recommend this restaurant. The only small comments that people had was that there are steaks were not sizzling hot but merely warm. However, all of the other features of the restaurant overshadowed that point.
This lovely space was ruined by the poor service. The excuse for this neglect was a large party having breakfast on a Sunday morning. But our waitress was obviously not well prepared to offer service. During the long wait, the two of us had to wave our arms vigorously to ask for more coffee. She brought only decaf to one of us; the other cup was left empty. Instead, she spent time preparing empty tables (with plenty others available and no one waiting to be seated) and paying no attention to us. Finally, another server offered us more coffee. Food finally arrived after waiting for over an hour. The hamburger was ok; the eggs benedict were luke warm and the sausage patties huge and tough. At the end of this experience, the check was discounted, but unfortunately, the Sunday breakfast was ruined for us.
It's my favorite spot in Cedar Rapids to go to for a special event. It's never crowded, even on a Saturday night. Everything is always very clean and neat. Their menu is unique; they always have a student featured entrée that is just a little different. It's run by Kirkwood culinary students so they are usually younger and motivated to do a good job for you.
Lamb Wellington for 3 of us and "Nutty Scallops" for the fourth were all excellent. The menu has choices like those that aren't on other restaurants' menus in Eastern Iowa. Wine list has grown since our last visit and has many excellent choices, also not found at other spits nearby. One guest found the vodka shaken with ice and served with lime perfectly prepared. Flourless chocolate cake was superb.
Atmosphere was beautiful. A student run restaurant. Great menus but our chicken sandwichs were over cooked and tough. The flavor was good but student chef needed some work on cooking technique. I would definitely go back even though it was quite a drive for us.
We had a pleasant host, a solicitous waiter, beautifully presented and tasty food, and a nice quiet atmosphere suitable for conversation. We didn't request anything special, but in the past I have requested and received one-of-a-kind meals because of my many allergies. It's a bit pricey, but it's worth it for a fine, comfortable, leisurely meal.
Nice decor, quiet atmosphere. We were there for our wedding anniversary, and the food was locally sourced and very flavorful. The fingerling potatoes included with my entree were a bit salty for my taste, but everything else was very good, and I especially enjoyed the butternut squash soup. The presentation of the dishes was very pleasing to the eye. Overall, a wonderful meal with good service.
This restaurant has the ability to be amazingly unique. The food tasted good with a variety of original options. There was a very secluded round table I would enjoy with a small dinner party, but otherwise I wouldn't go back. The wait staff was very slow even though more than half of their tables were empty. Maybe bad timing in between busy hours??
We enjoyed a lovely meal after being late for our reservation. We were forgiven and seated immediately. Service was fast and lovely. We really loved our unusual food--lamb wellington and cod on a bed of a delicious combination of fruits and vegetables. We also loved the bread and would recommend this place.
Service and food were both outstanding! Our waiter Jon was very attentive to our requests and provided great suggestions for our meal options. The medium rare short ribs were amazing. Paired with a hickory smoked Manhattan...awesome! Desert was a house made strawberry Swiss roll shared by the family, which was a great finishing touch to a superb dinner out.
The food, service and value were all outstanding. Our server was very friendly and efficient. We were celebrating our anniversary and found the setting (booth) to be a romantic setting. The main area is open and suitable for a first date or casual family dining.
This is a well appointed restaurant with a nice variety on the menu. Everyone of our party of seven enjoyed our meals. Service was attentive.
One quibble. I t did take a very long time from the time of the order for the meal to arrive. This could be due to the quality of the actual food, but the wait could have been a problem in other situations.
The food was very well prepared and presented. Four of us had four completely different plates and all remarked how good they were. The dining area itself does have bit of that restaurant-in-the-hotel feel because, well, that's what it is. It is very quiet and easy to have dinner conversations. Staff was friendly and presented themselves professionally, but did allow water glasses to get empty, so could have been better at checking that. I would recommend and return.
