What Insiders Are Saying
The Clam in the West Village is (you guessed it) a seafood restaurant that's a safe bet for most occassions.
Really delicious oysters on the half shell with lovely presentation was the perfect way to kick off my dinner at The Clam. I then had a beautiful lettuce and asaparagus salad with green goddess dressing. It was a tad over dressed for my taste but really a very fine dish. I finished with the totally decandent lobster and fried clam sliders and a side of Old Bay fries. I will be back soon!
Took my mom for Mother’s Day brunch and the place was amazing! Love the food and the service!
Located on a lovely corner, The Clam offered us an amazing brunch with great service to go with it. The Clam is normally know for its exquisite lobster rolls and ocean offerings accompanied by an delightful and original wine list. Now they offer even more with their brunch. Will definitely return again and again.
Loved this place! Nice menu ... excellent service. Had the steamers which were awesome ... the side of green. means was pretty terrific too!
Wish you still had the lobster salad. Lobster roll with clam still great. When the place is full, noise level a bit beyond what we can tolerate given desire for conversation. Love it still, esp for lunch
This is always a good time experience. I wanted to try the brunch. Everything, including the eggs was prepared with care
One of our favorite restaurants but this time the food was disappointing: the octopus was hard and tasteless though its accompanying potatoes/chorizo/olive purée/pea shoots were good; the clams with The spaghetti were unchewable and had to spit out; the skate was well cooked but the green gazpacho/avocado mousse with it were awful. It’s hard to give up a favorite but we are—at least for a while.
very very noisy
good but not exceptional food
We visited this restaurant for my husband's birthday and everything (cocktails, food, service and ambiance) were nothing short of phenomenal. We'll be back :-)
One of the best restaurants in the city
I would recommend but it’s a noisy restaurant and difficult to communicate with your friends. Also steamers were as small as cockles! The waitstaff should have mentioned that steamers are very small and we can’t serve it to you!
I love this restaurant. But don't go there. It's already too crowded! And it belongs to locals...
EXCELLENT atmosphere and food. Would definitely go back.
Soft shell crab special was outstanding!!!
The Clam was a wonderful dining experience. The ambience is terrific and has a local neighborhood feel. The team that works there gives off a really good vibe and are wonderfully friendly. The food was really delicious - we started with the clam dip served with huge homemade chips. The steamers were really good. The skate was fantastic. Dessert was apple crumble and ice cream sandwich - both incredibly tasty. I'd highly recommend you try the Clam!
It was my wife’s birthday and we loved it. Food and service was very good. Drinks were excellent but pricey. Seafood was very good and presentation was excellent.
The Clam is one of my favorite NYC restaurants and where I take my out-of-town friends. They are always impressed with the terrific food, friendly and efficient staff, great chef and neighborhood feeling. This time we ordered and loved the Clam dip (homemade chips) specialty clam pizza, spaghetti & clams and chicken under brick. We lived the deserts of apple cake and chocolate gelato and my favorite gingerbread ice cream sandwich.
The Clam is a wonderful spot in the West Village. It was so nice to be in a relatively quiet, civilized environment with excellent food.
Everything about the Clam was above and beyond. If I could give 10 stars I certainly my would. Attentive staff. Great food. Great ambience and an overall wonderful time! Oysters were amazing! Clam dip was amazing!! Drinks were top notch. Signature beverages were exquisite!! Especially the cucumber and gin concoction!! Can’t wait to go again!!
Great seafood and drinks! Would highly recommend the lobster sliders and clam dip!
Every time we come to NYC, we make a point to come to the Clam. It is one of our favorite all time restaurants! The vibe, the service and the food make it a gem.
I love the restaurant but it's pricey! Excellent service, the best rolls ever (for a price) and a great menu.
First rate, combining neighborhood charm with upscale service and food. Wonderful staff and excellent food
The homemade clam dip and chips are outstanding. My chicken was a bit dry and the breading was bland.
Married for 28 years, we still enjoy Friday Night dates - and the Clam is the place to go!
Absolutely my favorite restaurant in NYC! Staff is always amazing and food quality consistently excellent! Freshest oysters, Parker House rolls to die for! I come here every time I am in NYC about 8 times a year. Don’t miss out in this hidden gem!!
The drinks are okay. At least the ones we ordered. The food depending on what you ordered was either mediocre or absolutely delicious. The Lobster Clam sliders were so good we asked for a second order. The fries are also amazing. Very loud and crowded but overall very good. Would go back for the sliders.
Great birthday dinner for my wife
Always a great spot!
We love this place. We live nearby and consider it one of the best in The Village
The food and service was fabulous. The seafood was fresh. The staff very attentive.
Quality experience. Everything was good and. The restaurant has a nice vibe. Nothing was sooooo memorable that I’d plan to go back.
Food was great. We were not rushed and service was very good. Will definitely go back.
Very nice welcome by the staff at an early hour, choice of tables, but I found the menu too limited (no special main courses) and the appetizer portions extremely small. My lobster sliders would have been good if they hadn't been ice-cold. I didn't send them back because the warm-up process would most likely have been a microwave zap which would not have helped the texture. The restaurant was a request by the birthday boy, I do not see any reason for returning.
It was a lovely celebration for my husband’s birthday! Service was warm and friendly, knowledgeable and food was delicious. We’re we’re a family of 5 and enjoyed the round table near the window!
Went to The Clam with five friends, and we loved it. Exceptional food and great drinks in a cozy but lively atmosphere. It was a great time and we all agreed to go back again!
Although they couldn’t accommodate us with a window table as requested they were very attentive. We did not feel rushed. The food was exquisite!
We absolutely loved this restaurant. A lovely environment, cozy and lively, the staff was wonderful, but the highlight was the food, absolutely incredible. This is definitely on the highly recommended list and we plan to visit again when in town. The food was nothing short of spectacular.
Sadly, one of us had the clams with noodles and must have gotten a bad clam. Later that night was very pukey for him.... The rest of us were fine. Everything else was fabulous. Too bad, we loved the place.
