About The Clam
The Clam is a new 50 seat neighborhood restaurant drawing its inspiration from one of our favorite ingredients, the clam. Mike Price, chef and co-owner, offers a menu that celebrates seasonal, market driven ingredients as well as showcases influences of the Atlantic seaboard. The menu boasts a variety of clam dishes, some classic, some with a new twist and fun originals. The menu is rounded out with iced shellfish, salads, appetizers as well as meat and local seafood entrées. Desserts follow suit, and are inspired by the seasonal and local market offerings. All made in-house, the approach is simple and straightforward with something for everyone. Our shared vision and common goal is to offer genuine hospitality to our guests, garner relationships and establish ourselves not only as a neighborhood gem but also a Greenwich Village destination where our guests can be confident that their experiences are sure to be exceptional.

The Clam Ratings and Reviews
Atmosphere, comfortably communal ( meaning few tables but it was fun). Servers are super attentive. Best part is the food which is fresh with high quality fish, foul and other alternatives. I had duck appetizer, a dozen clams with my wife and 2 teenage children’s meals ranging from white pizza to scallops with Brussel sprouts. . We all loved it. Thanks
For the price point, there are so many better restaurants in NYC. I would rather go to Pearl Oyster Bar, Mermaid Inn, Ed's, Lure, or even Marea. The portions are very small, and that would be OK if the food was memorable. The service is great and they have a beautiful restaurant.
With a name like the Clam the one thing they should get right is...clams. But the baked clams were too big and very tough and chewy. I’d say inedible. The paradigmatic baked clam is at Don Pepe’s: Small, tender, not over-baked. These were the opposite. I also ordered linguine with clam sauce. It came with four big clams that were again tough and inedible. And the place isn’t cheap so I can’t recommend this place.
The Clam continues not to disappoint. Mike Price does an incredible job in getting excellent food out of the kitchen and developing a professional staff that is friendly, pleasant and totally there to please the clientele. The clam chowder is one of the best I ever had. The lobster sliders with fried clams were a delight. Going back soon....and if you haven't been there...put it on your radar.
OMG. What a find. This is amazing. Really good beach food in the west Village. The stuff I'd want to eat (and order) in Montauk, Newport or Nantucket. Started with Clam Dip yum. Then I had the heirloom tomato salad (the waitress offered me a spoon for the broth/dressing. THAT GOOD) my husband the grilled scallops -- they were perfect. The other reviews were right, YES, order the Parker House Rolls! My husband had the lobster roll/fried clam sliders -- more yumminess. (And plans to replicate this with ordering an order of fried clams and a lobster roll when in New England). I had the steamers. I almost ordered another roll at this point but held back because I figured dessert would be warranted. And we split the roasted carrots with shallots and dill. For Dessert, he had the Bananas Foster cocktail and I had the blueberry/nectarine crumble. It was great. As good as the Peach Blueberry pie at Perry Street recently. With Ginger icecream. Food is excellent and restaurant was fun. Great vibe. Kind, smart, fun wait staff, attractive crowd. We'll be back... tonight!?!
Our waitress was super attentive despite having most tables outside. Took happy hour orders 2 minutes before happy hour ended and kept our cocktail pitchers on ice. Not to mention the cocktails were amazingly good. Food was prompt and delicious fit for a magazine spread. Servings were the perfect size and the whole staff was very accommodating. 10/10 would recommend and can't wait until the next time I come back!
I so love The Clam. On my second visit I was even more impressed by the great service, fantastic food and lovely atmosphere. This time was a special occasion (anniversary) and they treated us like royalty, which was extra special, considering this is a neighborhood kind of place. The clam dip and home made potato chips were delicious, the clams were super fresh, the bread was very special (be sure to order it -- fantastic). The real highlight of the meal was the main courses -- we had swordfish and halibut -- bother were divine. But the biggest plus to me was the incredible service, and special treatment from the hostess and waiter. So very happy we chose The Clam for our special occasion and I would definitely recommend it for business lunch/dinner as well.
Upon arriving, the host (Matthew) asked if we wanted to sit outside - as the weather was quite pleasant. After a brief discussion in our party, Matthew noted that it is much quieter outside as the inside gets quite busy/loud. He offered us a table outside, but we could switch to inside if desired. He was extremely attentive to us, and checked on us periodically.
The service was excellent. Our server was quick to offer her personal favorites when asked.
The appetizers were incredible. The Clam Pizza is a must, as is the Fried Clam/Lobster sliders. My buddy and I took the servers recommendation and got the Clams with Spaghetti. The clams were HUGE and incredibly tasty. The women ordered the Swordfish, which was excellent (so they said), if not a bit small.
We will definitely go again.
Everything on the menu looks good. And everything we had was very good. Fantastic seafood options (of course) but also some delicious looking choices for those who prefer a meat-based protein. Great service, charming ambience. This may be my new favorite spot.
The Clam is one of our favorite restaurants in the City. The food is creative - for example the spaghetti (home made) and clam sauce has actual clam in shells. There's plenty of really top notch food in addition to seafood- like chicken and vegetables. The food is consistently excellent. And the desserts taste like award winners (gingerbread ice cream sandwiches, blueberry cobbler and passion fruit sorbet). I salute the chef Mike Price!
I wanted to give this place more stars but they are cheap with AC. When I arrived for dinner, the place felt wry stuffy and they didn't crank up the AC till 2 hours later. The chairs need to,be updated as they are peeling. Service was lacking in every way. The food on the other hand is outstanding. Clam pizza, scallops, sea bass, tomato salad are all outstanding.
Had been looking forward to trying the Clam after reading so many reviews. It did not disappoint. Started with delicious hush puppies. Then a wonderful heirloom tomatoe salad. We shared the cold lobster and had a perfectly cooked halibut. Good wine selection and great service. Will return.
Always a favorite; this time was no exception. A warm welcome followed by everything delicious: martinis and fried clam appetizer, sliders and clam pizza, all shared. An early reservation guarantees beautiful natural light and a less noisy dining. Highly recommended.
You cannot beat the happy service and the clean fresh seasonal food. All the staff takes great care of guests and each other. The food is consistently good. It's become one of our two local favorites where we sit and eat at the bar with the lovely Carla or at a table attended by Crystal, Courtney or the rest the happy crew. Only thing we'd like is to have a bit more variety in the food.
