Fantastic food and service. I will return.
Recently discovered this local restaurant and was pleasantly surprised so returned again. Service was excellent and the staff was very friendly. Our group ordered the chicken, monk fish and octopus and these dishes were perfectly cooked, flavorful, and delicious.
I adore the Clam! Lovely food and terrific service every time. The Happy Hour specials are really super with oysters for $1.00 a piece! Can't wait to go back again!
I went for my birthday and they sat us in front of the host stand - the worst seat in the house. People were checking in basically over our table. The burrata was pedestrian and the fluke standard/bland. While our server was good, it was a disappointing evening.
A bit pricey but food was amazing, service was fantastic, a night you will not soon forget.
I had never heard of The Clam, despite it’s having been around for a while. The food surprised with every bite. Explosively tasty. The staff was pleasant and helpful, the vibe buzzy, good drinks. Now that I know it’s there, we’ll be back for sure.
For the price point of the food, one would expect a much better experience, dry fish, everything plated in a bowel. And then fried clams without the bellies is not really traditional fried clams.
A friend introduced The Clam to me recently so I brought a customer in for dinner after such a good first experience. I asked for a specific table and was accommodated. My customer devoured his Branzino and everything was great. I'll be back.
Great place for a romantic, quaint seafood dinner. The service was excellent and the food was terrific. Highly recommend the shishito margaritas, steamers, and old bay fries. We ordered the “miso fluke” and whole grilled branzino and loved both.
Place is great!
We dined at The Clam Christmas evening. The menu was the traditional Feast of the Seven Fishes (we thought we'd also have the option of ordering from the regular menu), and a couple of courses consisted of seafood that I'm not able to eat. Our waiter managed to work with the kitchen to accommodate us. After straightening out, the menu for my meal, we had a fantastic dinner. The halibut, which is not generally one of my favorite fishes, was perfectly prepared. Every other course was equally excellent. We'll return soon.
Although The Clam has been consistently one of the top three seafood restaurants in the NYC area, their Feast of the Seven Fishes prix fixe dinner is beyond special. Amid the hectic holidays, this becomes my oasis of indulgence -- creative, ultra-fresh, unique dishes served with casual professionalism. Simply superb!
Sensational! The Feast of the Seven Fishes has become our Christmas Eve tradition. Always excellent with superb seafood/fish in creative preparations. This year the stars were lobster with burrata and the peeky toe crab. Excellent service, not too loud so you could have a conversation without shouting and they obviously care about what they do. If only Christmas was every month.
Perfect Christmas Eve lunch. The 7 fishes feast was fantastic.
Cozy spot just outside SoHo. We have wanted to try The Clam for awhile and finally made it. We should have come sooner. Food was fantastic and service was very attentive without being a nuisance. Will definitely be back on a return visit.
The little owl referred us to the clam. So yes, owls are very wise indeed. The foof, service and ambiance were all way above very nice.

Using open table we told the restaurant that it was a special occasion and they delivered exactly that. Thanks!
I don't know their names, but 3 people were extra nice and helpful: guy who seemed to be the host, lady with curly red hair, and another lady with dark hair and tattoos. took good care of me and my group.
Fun and delicious
Great atmosphere and delicious food! Service was also excellent!!
Absolutely love The Clam! The food is great and it’s a wonderful restaurant. Every time I’m in NYC The Clam is a must for dinner!
Outstanding! Friendly service, delicious food, pleasant atmosphere, forgot it was NYC outside the door, felt like we were sitting in a local restaurant in a rustic part of France. Perfect spot for a getaway evening.
My husband and I went to The Clam after randomly finding it on Open Table. What a lovely little place! The service was impeccable and the food was delicious (the clam chowder in particular). Will definitely be visiting again on our next visit to NYC.
Delicious food, excellent service. Lovely ambience. Go early if you have hearing aids or want a quiet conversation. After about 7 the noise level is very high.
We loved everything we ordered. Especially the salad With buttermilk dressing. This was our first trip to the West Village and we can’t wait to come back!
The staff is unwelcoming and let's the guests wait while they go about their business instead of the other way around. Once seated, again waiting for someone to take our order for quite some time even though most of the staff is just standing around. Food is good but not worth the un-hospitality of this restaurant.
Dear Karin, I am so sorry to hear that you didn't have an enjoyable experience with us on your last visit. We do pride ourselves on our hospitality and it is very disappointing to hear that you didn't experience our usual warm service. We would love to have you back in to give us another chance, please do email me at email@example.com om the next time you'd like to join us. Kindly, Laura, GM
Everything about the Clam was great. The food was exceptional.
Thanks for your kind words! Happy to hear that you had a great time and we can't wait to have you back in! Laura, GM
Best steamers ever.
Hi Tracy, The steamers are delicious indeed, and I am so happy you enjoyed them. Looking forward to seeing you another time soon. Laura, GM
We were very poorly seated at a tiny table right in front of the door and the reception counter. cramped for 3 but manageable if we weren't essentially in the way of the front door and everyone coming to the reception. I asked to be placed elsewhere as I was with my elderly parents and sitting in a terrible daft with people coming in and out was not conducive to a pleasant evening. I was refused despite there being tables free, as they said they were busy. We finished our drafty meal and left, and the free table was still empty - not great. Lovely food, great waiter but maitré d' was unkind and unaccommodating.
Dear FirmbutFair, I am very sorry to hear that you and your family were cold and cramped during your dinner, although glad that you enjoyed the food and service otherwise. We would love to have you back in to give us an opportunity to refresh your memories of The Clam, please do reach out to me at firstname.lastname@example.org om the next time you'd like to join us. Kindly, Laura GM
Fresh and delicious!
We live close by and have dined at The Clam more than half a dozen times. Friday evening November 8 we enjoyed perhaps the finest meal among the many good ones we've had there. The reasonably-priced wine our server recommended, an Italian Arneis, was wonderful. We started with oysters and shrimp. Our main courses were baked fluke in a miso mushroom sauce and grilled branzino with mustard frills and sunchokes. Both delicious, as were the brussels sprouts made with squash, sage and spicy apples. The service was warm and attentive as always. The Claim is our favorite West Village restaurant. Don't miss it.
Dear Ed, I am thrilled to hear that you had such a lovely time, and that Arneis is absolutely delicious. Looking forward to hosting you again soon. Kindly, Laura, GM
My fave place in New York
We were well taken care of with friendly, considerate waiter and host. The room is bright (on a corner, so big windows on two sides) and warm. Food choices were interesting and delicious. We sat for a long time for brunch and never felt pressured. It was quiet and we were able to have a conversation.
The east coast oysters were fantastic. I only wish I’d ordered more! The wait staff was impeccable. All in all a great experience!
We were there on Monday and seemed a bit short handed on service. When server was available, she was very accommodating, but we had to flag down busboy and manager to get a second bottle of wine and drinks ordered. They were very helpful in letting us upgrade the smaller platter of seafood to fit the size of our group, much appreciated. We all enjoyed our octopus, the person who had beef tartare (visiting from SF) said it was not outstanding. All guests loved the chocolate pot de creme. We felt relaxed and not under any pressure to move along and eat our meal and move out. My husband who is hard of hearing could hear most of the time.
the dining experience never disappoints. The Spaghetti and Clam and sliders were outstanding and always on my list.
Wonderful clam chowder. Black cod & whole fish very good. Delicious chocolate mouse.
My wife and i were visiting NYC for our 9 year anniversary. It’s our 2nd tome to this establishment, the first was our 6 year anniversary. We debated about coming back, because with thousands of amazing restaurants within a few miles, we considered trying something new for our special day. THANK GOODNESS we didn’t. The Clam was amazing, even better than our first visit. We started with some tasty crafted cocktails and east coast oysters, that were perfect. We both had the Sea Bass for our entrees. The dish was hot and delightful- probably the best I’ve ever had! The service was outstanding. We will definitely always go back to The Clam. Can’t wait until next time.
Love it there
